God's Imitator

Wang Yongxin asked, ”Officer Cao, do you mean that the stronger someone is, the easier they are to poach, so we should simply recruit weak people?”

Cao Haichuan shook his head, ”That’s not entirely what I mean.

”From the perspective of solving games, of course the more smart people the better.

”But smart people also have issues of discourse power among themselves.

”For the same game, two smart people each have what they think is a better solution. Perhaps both solutions work, but they can’t reach consensus and instead constrain each other.

”Then the smart person with weaker discourse power is very likely to be poached by other communities. Even if the other community’s players might not be as strong, as long as this smart person can gain greater discourse power after going there, they’ll have such motivation.

”So I think ’personnel composition structure’ is more important.

”For example, Wang Yongxin, you and Lawyer Lin are both smart people in our community. If you enter the same game and think of the same strategy, or complementary strategies, naturally everyone’s happy.

”But your thoughts are bound to differ, and your knowledge structures are different too. If you think of two different solutions in the same game but can only implement one, who do you think should compromise?”

Wang Yongxin fell into silence.

Obviously, he wouldn’t be willing to compromise but he also had to admit that many times Lin Sizhi’s ideas might be more comprehensive and complete.

Even if he verbally agreed to let Lin Sizhi make the final decision, in some special situations, he might still be more insistent on his own views, creating conflicts between them.

Zheng Jie weakly added, ”I understand. It’s like a basketball team with five players. Although each is a star player, there can still only be one commander. Otherwise, once discourse power allocation issues arise, even a galactic battleship can capsize in the gutter.”

Cao Haichuan nodded, ”Exactly. If it’s a game with multiple community members participating, actually having one absolute core make decisions is enough.

”The remaining people don’t need to make decisions. It’s best if they can have different knowledge structures for supplementation, different divisions of labor, sufficient loyalty and execution ability.”

Jiang He asked, ”So how many cores do we specifically need?”

Cao Haichuan seemed to have thought about this question long ago, ”From current game situations, multiplayer games might have 4-6 people participating, with 4 people being more common.

”Games like ’Blood Poker’ with full participation are also split into three 4-person groups.

”Considering this, our 12 people only need 3 puzzle-solving cores in games.

”If there are more, we’d need to consider discourse power allocation issues between different cores. We must ensure that one person will definitely obey another before letting them enter the same game together.”

Although Cao Haichuan didn’t specify who the 3 puzzle-solving cores were, most people had a clear idea.

Lin Sizhi and Wang Yongxin definitely counted as two.

As for the third person, it could be Cao Haichuan, Cai Zhiyuan, or Li Renshu.

Of course, judging from current in-game performance, none of these three had shown effects as brilliant as Lin Sizhi but their performance in game reviews could also prove their abilities from the side.

Cao Haichuan and Cai Zhiyuan’s last game was still ’King’s Judgment,’ but that game was quite special, with limited room for performance under mechanical constraints.

Among them, most community members certainly recognized Cao Haichuan more as the third in-game core.

In this situation, if they wanted to include a fourth in-game core, one person would have to be willing to give up in-game decision-making power and be content being a tool.

From the current perspective, none of the 3 people in the community seemed willing to give up decision-making power. So if they recruited a new core, would he be willing to give up decision-making power and completely follow the decisions of these three people in the community?

This was hard to say, smart people are all very opinionated.

And if this problem couldn’t be solved after recruitment, with the defection mechanism updated in games, big problems could very likely arise.

After thinking for a moment, Wang Yongxin said, ”But the ’three cores’ theory is mainly extrapolated from the number of participants in past games.

”If there are some 3-person team games in the future, then four cores would be just right.”

Cai Zhiyuan reminded, ”I personally think this probability isn’t high.

”Because the newly updated rule states: to poach or kick someone, at least 3 players must agree.

”This means future multiplayer games will likely be mainly 4-person participation.

”Of course, we can’t completely rule out 3-person participation, but in that case, this member replacement rule wouldn’t apply at all.

”It’s normal for rules to make such restrictions, because 3-kicking-1 is the bottom line. If it were 2-kicking-1, or even 1-kicking-1, everything would be chaos.”

Wang Yongxin sighed quietly, ”Alright, what you say makes sense too.

”But I still lean toward recruiting a smart person with independent ability to lead teams in solving games.

”The discourse power issue can be discussed further.

”Whether they’ll be poached due to discourse power reasons is still unknown. What if they’re not poached? What if discourse power issues don’t exist? I think this risk is worth taking.”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Good, I think the discussion has been quite thorough.

”Gender is already determined as female.

”Age, young or old to be decided by vote. Of course, we could also consider submitting a specific age, like trying 30 years old, but this might greatly narrow the screening range or interfere with other screening criteria.

”For profession, based on our previous discussion, there are three types: cook, nurse, special forces. I personally want to add two more options: farmer or worker. These two can better screen for truly grassroots people, optimizing our current personnel structure.

”Are there any other supplementary suggestions?”

After thinking, Jiang He said, ”Or, how about an actuary?

”When you were reviewing games before, Yang Hui from Community 8 left a deep impression on me.

”Moreover, our community’s professional composition is obviously too heavy on liberal arts. We might also have deficiencies in science and engineering fields.

”Most actuaries should be quite smart, right? And they can also have good supporting effects in games. Like Tian Fan and Yang Hui before, although both were very smart, there were no discourse power allocation issues.”

This suggestion made many people’s eyes light up.

Li Renshu nodded, ”Mm, I’ve considered this issue before too. Then let’s include actuary as an option.

”Let’s do an initial screening through show-of-hands voting first.

”I’ll name specific professions, and those who agree raise your hands. You can raise your hands multiple times, but be careful, because once this result is chosen it can’t be changed.”

Li Renshu read through these alternative professions one by one, then announced the vote count statistics.

”Cook 4 votes, nurse 5 votes, special forces 4 votes, farmer 2 votes, worker 3 votes, actuary 9 votes...

”So it seems we don’t need a second vote. We can confirm it’s a female actuary.”
