God's Imitator

Xu Tong hesitated somewhat, but ultimately nodded, ”Alright, I understand.”

Xu Tong returned to her office, came to the computer, opened the employee interface, and clicked on the recruitment market.

She pulled all those with low wages into the recruitment list.

Xu Tong didn’t know whether this recruitment plan would cause Su Xiucen’s task of breaking her obsession to fail, or whether Su Xiucen would fail because of forcibly treating that employee with a 0% cure rate but no matter what, this was everyone’s final choice.

Xu Tong pressed the [Submit] button.

Soon, the recruitment plan was approved.

The sound of ”click” kept ringing, and all the lights at the workstations lit up. All 30 workstations were filled, illuminating the entire hall brightly.

Xu Tong knew very clearly that this was merely Company 17’s final burst of vitality before death.

The only good news was that the big screen temporarily didn’t announce the failure of the judgment game, nor did any prompts related to Xu Tong’s special task appear but Xu Tong had a bad premonition that judgment would come sooner or later.

...In the president’s office.

Su Xiucen approved all the plans. After confirming that all employees had been hired, she opened the page for that lung cancer employee.

There were two different plans, one was to spend 5,000 minutes of visa time monthly for his special treatment.

The other was to give up.

Su Xiucen gently touched the screen with her hand, her eyes showing attachment and reluctance but in the end, she still moved the mouse and selected [Give Up].

On the computer screen, both plans disappeared together.

...

”We’re back.”

Li Renshu and Fu Chen both looked dejected. They had gone with 20,000 minutes of visa time, considering whether to tear up the agreement with Community 8 but in the end, they still chose to honor it.

This meant the company’s account balance was already precarious but just then, a new message prompt appeared on the big screen.

[After learning that the company’s funding chain was at risk of breaking, the cured work-injured employees spontaneously raised funds for the company. The account balance has returned to 50,000.]

The company’s details interface changed.

[Company 17 Limited]

[September company account balance: 50,000 minutes visa time]

[October estimated income: 0 minutes visa time]

[October estimated expenditure: 83,200 minutes visa time]

Li Renshu was somewhat surprised, ”Hm? The estimated income is no longer negative? It’s back to zero?”

Then, more message prompts appeared on the big screen.

[The game has met specific conditions:]

[1. The game has proceeded for at least 6 rounds.]

[2. The total number of employees hired by both companies has reached or exceeded 30.]

[3. Both companies’ account balances are positive.]

[The economic winter has ended, and economic recovery will begin.]

[The ’Financial Sources Game’ has entered the final countdown. Starting now, after 3 more rounds, the game will end and enter final settlement.]

[Now announcing the final results of the hidden judgment tasks in the game:]

[Xu Tong’s hidden task: Help Su Xiucen break her obsession.]

[True task objective: Convince Su Xiucen to agree to any layoff action and give up all work-injured employees with a 0% cure rate.]

[Final result: Completed.]

Xu Tong suddenly raised her head, surprised but also delighted.

She had originally worried that she needed to lay off all employees to count as breaking Su Xiucen’s obsession, but now it seemed this game wasn’t so harsh but the broadcast wasn’t over yet.

[Su Xiucen’s hidden task: Help Xu Tong break her obsession.]

[True task objective: After any layoff, convince Xu Tong to agree to increase the company’s employee count back to over 20 people, and cannot give up more than 5 employees with cure rates above 50%.]

[Final result: Completed.]

[You will all be exempt from immediate death punishment.]

[Now, you no longer need to keep secrets. Please relax and enjoy your last time in this game. This is all the reward you deserve.]

”We succeeded, we succeeded! Achoo!” Fu Chen was beaming with joy.

Although there were still many doubts about the game rules, the economic winter was over, and the hidden judgment tasks were all successfully completed. Could there be a better result than this?

Xu Tong hurriedly got up and went to the president’s office to share the good news.

”Aunt Su, we succeeded!”

Su Xiucen looked at her with a smile, ”When will the game end? We still need to play three more rounds, right?”

Xu Tong nodded, ”Yes, but these three rounds should have no difficulty at all.”

Su Xiucen nodded, ”Go on then. I want to be alone for a while. After all, opportunities to be a boss like this don’t come often for me.

”Let me savor it a bit longer.”

Xu Tong smiled, ”Alright, Aunt Su, take your time savoring it. You’re an excellent boss! If possible, I’d want to work for you again next time!”

Su Xiucen took out a player from her pocket, ”I heard on the broadcast that we don’t need to keep secrets anymore, right? Take this thing.”

Xu Tong reached out to receive it. Looking at this small player, her feelings were complicated.

What was recorded inside should be her own crimes.

Actually, having come this far, she had more or less guessed it, but she still pressed the play button.

[Hello, Su Xiucen.]

[In this judgment game, you have two objectives:]

[1. Achieve team victory conditions with any company.]

[2. Complete a special hidden task: ’Help the sinner Xu Tong break her obsession.’]

[Xu Tong, female, 32 years old.]

[Occupation: Human Resources Manager.]

[Through disguised salary cuts, malicious job transfers, cross-province relocations, and workplace isolation, she forced employees to resign voluntarily. She colluded with other HRs in the industry, exploited legal loopholes, and delayed arbitration deadlines to save layoff costs for the company.]

[Those in power can always eliminate subordinates without psychological burden. Arrogance and indifference are themselves sins, and bullying the weak while serving as an accomplice to evil compounds the sin.]

[As for how to break her obsession, as players who have lived together in the same community for some time, you need to find the answer yourself.]

[You must complete this task through covert means and cannot let anyone know of the task’s existence.]

[If there is suspicion of deliberate disclosure, you will be warned or even face immediate death punishment.]

[When the economic winter ends, if any of the above objectives is not achieved, the game’s judgment mechanism will be activated, and Xu Tong will face immediate death punishment.]

[Learning to think from others’ perspectives will be the key to completing your hidden task.]

[Good luck!]

”Aunt Su, I...”

Xu Tong wanted to explain something, but ultimately couldn’t speak. She just handed the player from her own pocket to Su Xiucen, then left the president’s office.

...

After Xu Tong left, Su Xiucen chose not to press play on the player, but left it on the office desk.

She stood up from the spacious boss chair and took one last look at that position.

”Being a boss really does feel quite good. No wonder everyone wants to be a boss.”

She touched the leather armrests of the boss chair with some attachment, then slowly walked toward the cold storage.

Opening the cold storage door again, a bone-chilling wind hit her face.

Su Xiucen wrapped the several layers of outer clothes around herself and entered the cold storage once more.

The door closed, and she sat trembling in a corner, curling herself into a ball but this one minute seemed much faster compared to last time.

When time was up and she saw the exit button light up, Su Xiucen instinctively raised her hand, wanting to press it but her hand stopped in mid-air for a moment, and ultimately she lowered it again.

Su Xiucen’s eyes became vacant, and chaotic thoughts flashed through her mind like a revolving lantern.

Then she closed her eyes with a sense of relief.
