Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

One hour ago, at the superbase.

Liu Kexin, Dad and Mom, Shen Xia, Peng Erping, Qin Liang, and Lu Li’s friends and family were orderly boarding the super spaceship.

Thousands of ”Savior” mechs were flying around in the vicinity.

Yes, even the family of the fiery beauty Li Yajing was here.

Lu Li wasn’t heartless; anyone remotely related to him was basically brought along.

The vast majority had already boarded the spaceship.

Only Liu Kexin, Dad, Mom, and Gu Wei were still standing below, looking worried.

Liu Kexin tightly grabbed Lu Li’s hand, anxiously saying, ”Lu Li, promise me, if things become unmanageable, don’t force it. I only wish for you to return safely.”

Lu Li smiled, patting the back of her hand, ”Don’t worry, I’ll manage. You all stay well on the spaceship. If I really can’t handle it or if the gamma-ray burst’s effect reaches Earth, you’ll be safe inside the spaceship.”

There was one thing he didn’t say: if Earth’s atmosphere were to be destroyed, this super spaceship would immediately launch into space, following the pre-set course towards Proxima Centauri.

Why head towards Proxima Centauri?

Because, after returning from space, Lu Li had discovered data showing that a habitable planet in the Triple Star System belonged to Proxima Centauri.

This means if Earth’s atmosphere were ruined by the gamma-ray burst and became uninhabitable, Lu Li wouldn’t leave his family and friends to wander in space indefinitely.

Mom came up, also expressing her concern, ”Son, like Kexin said, if you really can’t stop the gamma-ray burst, don’t push it. Your dad and I only have you; we’re counting on you to take care of us in our old age.”

Lu Li knew Mom was reminding him there were family and friends, urging him not to risk his life unthinkingly for Earth’s protection. ”Mom, rest assured, I’ll prioritize my own safety first, so you and Dad won’t worry.”

Despite this, worry was still evident in Mom’s eyes.

Dad wasn’t as delicate; he just patted his son’s shoulder and said, ”Xiaoli, be careful.”

Lu Li nodded, ”I know, you all should get on the spaceship. I need to head into cosmic space to stop the gamma-ray burst.”

”Alright.”

”We’ll go up now.”

”Make sure you come back safely.”

Liu Kexin, Dad, and Mom reluctantly boarded the spaceship.

Only Gu Wei stayed behind; he looked at the backs of those entering the spaceship and then turned back, saying, ”Mr. Lu, are you confident?”

Lu Li shook his head, ”I’ve never faced a gamma-ray burst directly; it’s hard to say right now.”

Gu Wei’s eyes were complicated, ”If it really can’t be stopped, make sure you come back safely.”

Hearing this, Lu Li smiled, ”Old Gu, I can’t say for sure whether I can stop the gamma-ray burst right now, but I can assure you it won’t harm me. So, don’t worry.”

Gu Wei nodded slightly, ”I believe you. I’ll go up now.”

Lu Li replied, ”Go ahead. I’ve already sent several thousand ’Savior’ mechs towards Venus. Besides potentially taking on some of the gamma-ray burst’s impact, they’ll transmit the upcoming scenes back to Earth. There’s about a twenty-minute delay. Oh, by the way, if the signal’s lost, it means I couldn’t withstand the gamma-ray burst. Then, you can have the spaceship’s artificial intelligence assistant start the spaceship; I won’t be long behind.”

Gu Wei acknowledged this and boarded the spaceship.

Lu Li said no more. The moment the spaceship’s door closed, his whole body disintegrated into quanta, heading towards Venus.

...

Meanwhile, leaders from various countries were at the aerospace monitoring center.

These leaders had previously pleaded with Lu Li to save the world, but unfortunately, they didn’t receive a direct response.

However, it wasn’t entirely unproductive. At the very least, during a call with George, Lu Li didn’t directly refuse as he had initially.

Thus, these leaders, helpless against the gamma-ray burst, gathered together, hoping to see if Lu Li would take action.

If Lu Li intervened, they still had hope of survival.

But if Lu Li ultimately did nothing, they would have to accept the fate of annihilation.

George and the Great Emperor, being the highest-ranking individuals present, naturally sat in front of the monitoring screen.

Xiong Wen Si Lang, Lady Sanna, and the remaining nearly two hundred leaders stood tensely behind them, their eyes constantly darting to the screen.

A young white female technician was briefing George and the Great Emperor, ”Since August 27, 1962, when our Old Ugly successfully launched Mariner 2 into orbit towards Venus, Earth has sent thirty probes to Venus. Twenty-one succeeded in conducting investigations. Even the Russians once successfully launched the first artificial satellite to Venus. Currently, around ten probes or satellites are near Venus. These probes or satellites can capture conditions around Venus, meaning, if the gamma-ray burst comes from the direction of the Sun as Mr. Lu previously mentioned, it will surely be detected by our probes or satellites.”
