Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

”Alas, Mr. Lu is unwilling to save the world. We should stop harboring illusions.”

Lady Sanna and other leaders from various countries were all crestfallen.

George’s gaze was profound as he said, ”Mr. Lu did express his pleasure in seeing us perish, but don’t forget, he said those words in extreme anger. Previously, when he invited us to the super base, he did say he was willing to save the world, indicating that he still has deep feelings for this Earth. So, so many days have passed. Has his anger subsided? We could actually give it a try.”

The Great Emperor hesitated a bit, ”What if we anger him by approaching him? Who can bear the consequences?”

George laughed dryly, ”If Mr. Lu does nothing, humanity will perish tomorrow. What consequence could be worse than that?”

Upon hearing this, everyone was suddenly awakened.

Indeed.

If they don’t plead with Lu Li, humanity is certain to perish.

If they do plead, and even if they anger Lu Li, it merely brings ”doomsday” forward by 24 hours.

Plead.

There is a chance of survival.

Do not plead.

There is a 100% chance of annihilation.

Anyone can discern the critical points and know what to do.

In an instant, everyone’s thoughts became active.

Right.

No matter what, we must try to invite Mr. Lu to come forward!

...

In a hospital in Bei Yan.

A woman in her thirties who had lost all her hair due to chemotherapy, emaciated, lay on a hospital bed, gazing tenderly at her five-year-old daughter sleeping in her husband’s arms beside her.

The woman was extremely weak, and she called out with all her remaining strength, ”Jianguo.”

The man holding the daughter heard her, hurried to the bedside, leaned closer, and asked, ”Xiaoli, are you thirsty?”

”No... it’s not that.”

The woman spoke, gasping, ”Bring me my phone.”

The man was momentarily stunned, ”What do you need the phone for in your condition?”

The woman looked at her daughter’s adorable face, smiled gently, and said, ”The end of the world is coming. I’m in the late stage of cancer and beyond saving. My death doesn’t matter, but... sigh, I can’t bear to leave you and Nannan as well...”

The man said with a firm look, ”I had thought about it before. If it weren’t for Nannan, I would certainly commit suicide after you died. Now that doomsday is coming, I’ll accompany you to the afterlife. In this life, I love only you.”

The woman tried to lighten the atmosphere, playfully blinking her eyes, ”I don’t only love you.”

The man said speechlessly, ”Then who else do you love?”

The woman weakly raised her finger pointing to her daughter, ”Of course, there’s Nannan too.”

The man suddenly realized something, ”You want me to get the phone to go online and plead with Mr. Lu Li to save Nannan, right?”

The woman gently nodded, ”I don’t care if I die since I’ve lived over thirty years, but Nannan is still young, and hasn’t experienced the wonders of the world. I don’t want her to perish in the gamma-ray burst. So, I want to try going online to plead with Mr. Lu Li. No matter if he’s willing to save the world, I just hope he can save Nannan.”

The man nodded, deeply agreeing, ”Yes, it doesn’t really matter if we die as long as Nannan can survive. Xiaoli, you’re weak, don’t move. Let me go online and plead.”

...

Su City.

Lin Xiang was Lu Li’s elementary school classmate.

However, the two never particularly got along from childhood till now.

Including the six years of elementary school, they probably hadn’t exchanged more than a hundred sentences.

Naturally, he and his family weren’t as fortunate as Lu Li’s junior high school classmate Wang Yu, who was taken to the super base.

At this moment, Lin Xiang was standing on the apartment balcony, gazing at the tranquil sky.

He knew this was the calm before the storm.

Tomorrow, the calm would be shattered.

The whole Earth would become Hell.

”Son.”

His mother’s voice came from behind.

Lin Xiang turned his head, ”Mom, what’s up?”

Mrs. Lin approached with an expression of great expectation, ”Didn’t you study with Lu Li in elementary school? The end of the world is coming tomorrow. Hurry and contact him, regardless of whether he wants to save the world or not, at least get our whole family out. I’ve heard that anyone with any connection to Lu Li has been taken somewhere, protected by him, and they will surely escape perishing.”

Lin Xiang replied helplessly, ”I would also want to ask him to save our family, but since childhood, we have no ties, and I don’t have his contact information. Where should I plead to him for help?”

Mrs. Lin was anxious, ”Whether there’s a tie is another matter. After all, you were elementary school classmates. Pleading at his doorstep might work? Even though you don’t have his contact details, doesn’t he have accounts on major social media worldwide? You could leave a message there, ask him to save our family.”

A thought stirred in Lin Xiang’s heart.

Right.

At this moment of life and death, who cares if there’s a tie?

Better to plead than do nothing!

He hurriedly turned and rushed into the room, quickly reaching the computer to log into social media and look for Lu Li’s account.

...

Countless others had the same thought as Lin Xiang.

Some may have had a tiny connection with Lu Li.

For instance, having once worked at the same company without ever speaking a word.

Yes, Brother Cheng, Xiaozhao, and Old Zhu, with their slightly stronger ties, were taken by Lu Li.

Of course, the vast majority had nothing at all to do with Lu Li, and may not have even seen him in person.

At this moment on the internet, or rather, across all major social media sites, regardless of whether they had ties with Lu Li or not, nearly everyone was imploring.

For example, on Huaxia’s domestic Weibo.

Many people stormed Lu Li’s account, constantly pleading there.

”Mr. Lu, you have a magnanimous heart!”

”Others offended you, we didn’t!”

”Wah, wah, I really don’t want to die. I am only seventeen, haven’t even had a boyfriend. Mr. Lu, please be kind, save me.”

”Great, honorable Mr. Lu Li, in my heart you have always been like a god. I even have a shrine dedicated to you at home. I am your most faithful follower. As the world is about to end, I pray you will shine your divine light and save my family from peril.”

”Mr. Lu, we beg you, please save us ignorant Earthlings!”

”I promise, if I ever hear anyone speak ill of you, I would defend your honor at any cost, just wish you would save the world.”

”Mr. Lu, I’m not afraid of death, since I am a late-stage cancer patient with not much time left to live anyway, but my daughter is only five. She hasn’t experienced the wonders of life. I really don’t want her to perish. If you don’t want to save the world, could you at least save my poor daughter?”

”Mr. Lu, I am your elementary school classmate, Lin Xiang. I am pleading with you to save our family. Please, save my family, will you?”

”Mr. Lu, I beg you...”

”Mr. Lu...”

One million people!

Thirty-two million six hundred thousand people!

Two hundred ninety-four million seven hundred eighty thousand people!

Countless people are desperately imploring Lu Li online, hoping he will save the world.

This is just the scenario in Huaxia.

In fact, almost everywhere worldwide, it’s virtually the same.

If someone did some statistics, they would surely find that the number of people beseeching Lu Li to save the world has reached the tens of billions!

It can be said that at this moment, the entire Earth is begging Lu Li to take action.

However, Lu Li, deemed the last hope by everyone, seemed to have a heart of iron. No matter how people implored, there was no response from his accounts on those social media sites.

Even though many people knew Lu Li had stated that he wouldn’t save the world and his social accounts showed no sign of activity, which was understandable, they truly didn’t want to die, and they were still tearfully pleading there.

Some claimed to be Lu Li’s followers, worshipping him as a deity.

Others played emotional cards, telling of their own hardships in life, trying to move Lu Li.

Additionally, some people, who were already at death’s door, were praying for their families to survive.

For a moment, all kinds of voices existed on the internet.

But invariably, the expressed intent was the same; everyone hoped Lu Li would save the world.

The global pleas naturally reached the eyes of the leaders of various countries who were preparing to beseech Lu Li.

George, the Great Emperor, Lady Sanna, and others were all extremely nervous at this moment.

Because they didn’t know whether Lu Li would act in response to the pleas of billions worldwide.
