Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

There are three days left until the gamma-ray burst strikes.

On this day, around nine in the morning in Huaxia, Lu Li returned to Earth.

He didn’t go straight back to the super base; instead, he went to Su City.

He planned to bring all his relatives and friends to the super base.

Once he had picked up all his relatives and friends, he would summon a super spaceship to enter Earth.

Then he would let all his relatives and friends hide inside to avoid being affected by the gamma-ray burst.

Although Lu Li was confident in handling the gamma-ray burst and even in absorbing its energy for personal use, he had never directly faced a gamma-ray burst before and didn’t know what might happen in practice.

Naturally, for the safety of his relatives and friends, he had to prepare for any contingency.

The super spaceship had a very thick layer of high-tech ”lead-boron polyethylene board” on the outside.

It was designed by Lu Li’s simulation function and its ability to resist gamma rays was 132 times that of a common lead-boron polyethylene board.

Moreover, because it’s a spaceship, the outer shell used composite material layers, which could not only resist gamma rays but also almost all other rays like alpha and beta rays.

Lu Li once considered making more super spaceships when he hadn’t found a solution for the gamma-ray burst, allowing all eight billion humans to board them and thereby avoid complete extinction. However, this plan was eventually dismissed by him.

Why dismissed?

A super spaceship could carry ten million people, so eight billion people would only require 800 ships, which seemed not too difficult on the surface.

But in reality, at that time, Lu Li’s energy was not enough to manufacture so many spaceships in such a short period.

This was one reason.

Secondly, the spaceships needed energy.

If the load was light, they could absorb free particles from the outside world and convert them into antimatter annihilation to power the ships, but if the load was very high, Lu Li would have to help.

Moreover, how much food and water would eight billion people consume every day?

Lu Li couldn’t manage it all alone.

That’s why he abandoned this idea at that time.

Besides, what happened later also proved that the decision to abandon was correct.

Of course, those were previous thoughts.

Now Lu Li’s mindset had changed.

He urgently needed the gamma-ray burst to arrive to provide himself with enough energy to complete the last step of the sixth deep evolution.

Although solving the gamma-ray burst actively would be a bit of a slap in the face, he believed the humans on Earth wouldn’t resign to extinction and would definitely seek his help to intervene, so he wasn’t afraid of a slap.

You’re asking me to step in.

How can stepping in be considered a slap?

Lu Li thought this about Earth before he returned.

However, after coming back, he found that the situation he saw was somewhat different from what he had imagined.

In the countryside, near his grandmother’s house.

Lu Li was preparing to take away his grandmother, uncle, aunt, cousin, and aunt.

He had just transformed back from superfluid state into a normal human form and hadn’t crossed the threshold of his grandma’s ”little bungalow” yet.

Suddenly, Lu Li saw his grandmother’s neighbor Cheng the Third riding an electric scooter, loaded with food supplies and even a bottle of Wuliangye liquor.

He couldn’t help but be momentarily stunned.

In his impression, Cheng the Third, a man in his sixties, was extremely frugal.

Except during festivals when he had to buy some fish and meat, he was reluctant to even turn on the lights at night.

The main reason was Cheng the Third’s lifelong habit of frugality and his son’s lack of ”ambition.”

The mortgage and car loan were being repaid by the old couple, so they had to live frugally.

Seeing Cheng the Third with a scooter full of goodies, how could Lu Li not be stunned?

He didn’t activate his superpower to sense people’s thoughts at the moment.

Otherwise, the thoughts of eight billion people would be too noisy.

Lu Li took the initiative to greet, ”Uncle Cheng San.”

Cheng the Third was almost home, and his scooter was already moving slowly.

When he heard someone calling out, he immediately slowed down and came to a stop.

Cheng the Third turned his head and, with a smile, said, ”Oh, it’s young... Mr. Lu.”

Lu Li blinked and said, ”Do you have guests at home today? Such a spread of food and Wuliangye?”

”No,” Cheng the Third waved his hand and sighed, ”It’s just that I haven’t enjoyed life in decades. Now that doomsday is coming, might as well enjoy myself before I die.”

At that point, he seemed to realize something and quickly added, ”We understand that you don’t want to save the world, don’t worry, we won’t force you; as the saying goes, life and death are fated, wealth and honor are in the heavens, if heaven wants us to die, we really can’t blame anyone.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li felt a deep sense of reflection. He didn’t expect the usually tight-lipped Cheng the Third to be so open-minded.

He pondered, if everyone on Earth shared Cheng the Third’s perspective, he wouldn’t have made such a fuss before, or made such harsh statements about waiting for human extinction.

After a brief chat with Cheng the Third.

Lu Li stepped across the threshold of his grandmother’s house.

As soon as he entered, he saw his grandmother and aunt constantly looking out the inner house.

Due to a stroke a few years ago, his grandmother was not very nimble on one side.

When she saw Lu Li come in, she immediately exclaimed, ”Xiaoli is here, Xiaoyan, I told you I didn’t hear wrong, but you wouldn’t believe me.”

Aunt said with a half-smile, ”I spoke with my sister this morning, and she said Xiaoli went to the alien planet, so when I vaguely thought I heard him talking to Cheng the Third just now, I thought I was mistaken.”

Saying this, Aunt turned her head, motioned with her hand, and said, ”Xiaoli, come in and have a seat.”
