Eternal Thief

As Eva started to describe the Evernight Council’s structure, everyone listened attentively, especially when she mentioned the three most powerful races of the Abyss of Wandering Souls.

Eva continued, “Together, these three races control almost the entire populated domains of the Abyss of Wandering Souls. You can think of the Evernight Council as a massive-scale federation.

“If you want to have any kind of power or status in the Abyss of Wandering Souls, you must be part of the Evernight Council. If you show any signs of resistance or defiance, you’ll be dealt with together with your entire clan.

“The Evernight Council rules with an iron fist, and in truth, the Abyss of Wandering Souls is all about who has bigger fists, and the concept of rules or fairness doesn’t exist.

“As long as you don’t oppose the Evernight Council and acknowledge their rules, you can thrive in the Abyss of Wandering Souls. You can create your own power under the Evernight Council’s authority and even claim the ranks of the Evernight Council by raging wars with others or defeating powerful members of the Evernight Council.

“There were six council circles in the Evernight Council, which are like ranks. Now, there are two categories among these ranks. The first are powers or organizations affiliated with or under the rule of the Evernight Council.

“The second category is sole individuals who are either part of the Evernight Council or joined their ranks and operate like mercenaries. Although those mercenaries have far fewer advantages, they still regain some of their freedom but don’t even think about how they can go against the Evernight Council.

“Because the Evernight Council has strict contract policies, those contracts are no different from powerful law contracts. They can’t go against the Evernight Council if they join them, and those who refuse will be dealt with by those members of the Evernight Council; they didn’t even need to send their true members.

“The First Outer Circle consists of organizations and individuals with the power of Abyssal Soldiers and Abyssal Warriors.

“The Second Outer Circle had Abyssal Grand Generals and Abyssal Masters. The Third Inner Circle has Abyssal Grandmasters and Abyssal Guardians. Up to this point, you all can consider these three council circles as the Evernight Council’s rudimentary strength.

“The Lord Circle consisted of Abyssal Lords, the Grand Lord Circle consisted of Abyssal Grand Lords, and finally, the King Circle, consists of individuals of Half-Step Abyssal Kings, are places where the true hidden might of the Evernight Council lies!

“Because to enter these three circles, you must sign a new contract with the Evernight Council and become their faithful member. Although these individuals can keep their ties with their organizations or groups, they absolutely can’t go against the Evernight Council even if they want to. This also squashes any chance of future rebellion.

“Anyone who refused will suffer the wrath of the Evernight Council. Those three races behind the Evernight Council are too deeply rooted in the Abyss of Wandering Souls, and all their elite members are part of the Evernight Council.

“Although there are three more races like the Evernight Council with one Abyssal King in their ranks, in front of the Evernight Council with three Abyssal Kings standing at the top, they didn’t dare to go against the Evernight Council and are even forced to sign strict treaties with them never to oppose the Evernight Council.

“Albeit I don’t know the contents of those treaties, with how long the Evernight Council had been ruling the Abyss of Wandering Souls, I’m pretty sure the treaties are more and less like those contracts they made the organizations and individuals sign in the first three circles.”

Eva became silent at this point, giving the others time to digest this information before proceeding.

Ace’s eyes shimmered with astonishment as he wasn’t expecting the Evernight Council to have such a tight grip over the Abyss of Wandering Souls. Even the powers in the Mortal Ascension Heaven can’t achieve this despite their countless years of inheriting.

The six top sects were the best proof of this. Although they had Ascension Kings hidden in their ranks, they should only have one since if some power was able to cultivate more than one, they could probably become like the Evernight Council. However, even then, it might not be possible since the other five powers might join hands to get rid of those two ascension kings and any future trouble.

It could be said that the equilibrium of power in the Mortal Ascension Heaven was too hard to break, and unless an Ascension King with overwhelming power emerged, it was impossible to tip the scales of power.

The Evernight Council could be considered lucky or extremely cunning to cultivate three Abyssal Kings and then establish their might, and now it was too hard for others to escape their rule.

In fact, Ace even suspects the Evernight Council might be hiding more Abyssal Kings.

Whatever the case was, now that Ace knew about the terrifying power of the Evernight Council, he even considered abandoning any thought of taking the hard mission route as well.

Nonetheless, he remained silent because Eva was still waiting, and he wanted to know what the other members thought.

At this moment, Noa spoke as she impassively looked at Eva, “You just said the King Circle consists of Half-Step Abyssal Kings but did not mention actual Abyssal Kings; why is that?”

Eva smiled faintly before she replied, “Because it is just as I said, the King Circle didn’t have an actual Abyssal King; instead, they are only Half-Step Kings. The actual Abyssal Kings are always in seclusion in the most secret area of the Evernight Council, continuously cultivating to break into the next realm.

“After all, once someone reaches the top of the world, everything becomes meaningless, and only when one reaches the summit do they realize there are even taller peaks ahead of them.

“For Abyssal Kings, they are already the most powerful existences of the Abyss of Wandering Souls, so unless another Abyssal King won’t act against the Evernight Council or the Evernight Council was ruined by their descendants, they won’t care about anything else.”

“And dare I ask how you got such information about the Abyssal Kings? What is your rank in the Evernight Council?” Alina questioned with narrowed eyes as the smirk on Eva’s face irked her to no end.

Ace was also curious about this since any information about the Abyssal King would be top-secret, even though he knew nothing about the Ascension King or Zaria.

Although Ace was pretty certain Zaria didn’t care about such secrets at all, Falcon should’ve known about Ascension King of the Runic Crown King Palace.

Eva confidently replied, revealing something unexpected, “Well, it’s pretty simple. Not only I’m an individual member of the Third Inner Circle, but I attracted the attention of a Half-King from the Abyssal Devil Race and managed to become her disciple!”
