Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1047: Chapter 492: Overestimating Oneself (Third Update)

Mrs. Foster is being so straightforward, probably wanting to cut through the Gordian knot?

Seeing Edward Foster getting deeper and deeper, as his mother, she obviously doesn’t want her son to get hurt too badly.

Lawrence Winters can understand Mrs. Foster’s mindset.

But to ask such questions in front of so many people, Lawrence Winters still feels immensely embarrassed.

Her toes involuntarily curl and grip the ground, wishing she could scratch through the soles of her shoes.

Her mind races, searching for an appropriate way to respond and a suitable way to navigate the situation.

Edward Foster seems genuinely or perhaps feigning being drunk, looking at her so endearingly, his handsome silhouette carries a familiar feeling to Lawrence Winters; otherwise, she wouldn’t have unknowingly gotten closer to him.

Personal boundaries have been breached through ”small, persistent efforts over time.”

Everyone in the room is watching her, except for Kenneth Osborne who has turned his gaze away.

Lawrence Winters sensitively notices this but is momentarily unable to understand why Kenneth Osborne is not looking at her at this moment.

Her heart feels both awkward and flustered.

In a daze, she hears herself saying, ”I currently don’t have a boyfriend, and who can say what the future holds.”

Mrs. Foster smiles with crescent-shaped eyes, looking thrilled, she says, ”So my silly son still has a chance, right? Alright, alright, no wonder he came all this way, Edward, you can’t mess this up anymore, your mom has paved the way for you.”

Edward Foster feels a surge of exhilaration, unable to say anything, wishing he could immediately hold Lawrence Winter’s hand and give her a kiss on the cheek.

Unfortunately, there’s a dining table between him and Lawrence Winters, such a distance, he can’t reach her.

Love separated by mountains and seas, thoughts dwelling afar.

He awkwardly raises his glass toward Lawrence Winters, slurring, ”Not... not messing up... Law... Lawrence, drink this glass with me; I’ll take it as you allowing me to pursue you!”

He only says he wants to pursue her, not anything else.

Lawrence Winters thinks, having just divorced, with no boyfriend or fiancé, if someone wants to pursue her, she can’t exactly stop them, can she?

She hesitantly raises her own glass, using a noncommittal and nonresponsible delaying tactic, saying: ”But I’m very busy right now, so busy I don’t even have time to sleep. If you truly mean it, Little Foster, can we wait until after my competition?”

Honestly, she and Edward Foster make good friends, unlike Kenneth Osborne, who often makes her so angry that it hurts her heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys.

After saying this, Lawrence Winters immediately feels Kenneth Osborne’s gaze, colder than before, like a current from the Arctic, threatening to freeze her whole.

Lawrence Winters involuntarily shivers, quickly takes a sip of coconut milk, and smiles while nodding to Edward Foster.

Edward Foster grins so widely that he can barely hold his glass steady, his head bobbing, saying: ”No worries, no worries, I’ve waited a year; can’t I wait a few days? I’ll wait! I’ll wait!”

Evan Stetford slightly furrows his brows imperceptibly; he looks at Lawrence Winters and raises his glass, saying: ”Lawrence, I’d also like to toast to you, is that alright?”

He asks with subtlety, unlike Mrs. Foster and her son, who are straightforward.

Lawrence Winters is adept in social niceties in other matters, almost reading intent from a glance; yet she’s somewhat lacking in handling romantic feelings.

She reflects inwardly, attributing it to too little experience and too few samples, causing her to unable to make effective judgments; therefore, she aims to brush up her experience.

Lawrence Winters smiles and winks at Evan Stetford, raising her glass again: ”Sure, I can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk!”

In the room, three men, two have expressed their interest in pursuing her, yet she accepts all, refusing none.

The third man, Kenneth Osborne, was her first love and ex-husband, now fuming with anger.

He never expected, sitting here, that Lawrence Winters could act as if not seeing him, clinking glasses and giving frivolous promises to the other two men responsible for the breakdown of their marriage.

If that’s the case, where does that leave him?

At this moment, Kenneth Osborne truly feels disheartened.

Moreover, with Mrs. Foster’s presence, he even feels a bit ashamed.

He lacks a mother like Mrs. Foster, who wouldn’t hesitate to intervene herself for her son to win the woman he loves.

In contrast, his family, they all dragged him down, none supported him, always hinting that Lawrence Winters isn’t good enough for him...

In fact, it’s him that isn’t good enough for Lawrence Winters.

Kenneth Osborne lowers his gaze and picks up his glass, taking a sip.

As Lawrence Winters clinks glasses and drinks with Evan Stetford: ”...”

She catches sight of Kenneth Osborne’s actions, senses his sudden desolation and downward spiral, noticing his foul mood.
