Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1013: Chapter 479: A Beauty by Nature, Yet a Thief by Fate (Part 2)

Kenneth Osborne followed her over.

Watching this pair walk together, Ruby Sheldon clenched her fists and shouted loudly, ”Do you have the nerve to call Kenneth ’Brother Kenneth’?! You’ve already divorced him, yet you keep appearing together! Do you have no shame!”

”Betty, shut up!” Aiden Sheldon couldn’t bear it any longer and finally shouted to stop Ruby Sheldon.

Lawrence Winters’ face darkened, and she turned around, pointing a finger at Aiden Sheldon: ”Mr. Sheldon, I’ve told you, if your precious daughter provokes me again, I won’t hold back. You can’t teach your daughter, but I don’t mind helping you teach her how to behave.”

”What did you say?!” Ruby Sheldon looked at Aiden Sheldon, then at Lawrence Winters, and instantly burst into tears like beads falling from a broken string, ”Dad, you’re siding with an outsider to scold me? Dad, am I no longer your most cherished treasure?”

Lawrence Winters’ hair stood on end; she didn’t want to teach Ruby Sheldon how to behave anymore. She quickly walked away from this dramatic scene.

Kenneth Osborne couldn’t stand it either; with his long strides, he quickly caught up with Lawrence Winters, and the two of them swiftly climbed the steps and entered the Stetford family’s main house.

Aiden Sheldon’s eye twitched uncontrollably, but seeing Ruby Sheldon’s tear-streaked face, he couldn’t utter a single word of reprimand.

”...Betty, you need to grow up...” He reached out his hand, hesitated for a moment, but still gently patted her head.

Ruby Sheldon leaned into his arms and said, sobbing, ”Dad, I will grow up; I’ll be good. Dad, please don’t care for anyone else, just care for Betty alone, okay?”

She gently shook his arm while her slightly lighter-colored eyes were washed with tears, sparkling like crystal glass.

Aiden Sheldon closed his eyes, steeling his heart: ”Betty, you’re already twenty-one; you need to grow up.”

”...But Dad, before, anyone who made me angry, you and Mom would make them disappear from my sight. Why can’t you make that annoying Lawrence Winters disappear from my sight?” Ruby Sheldon pouted, stubbornly shaking Aiden Sheldon’s arm.

Aiden Sheldon looked at her with a complex expression, shifted his gaze after a moment, and said, ”Your mother and I have spoiled you. You used to be young...”

Back then, he was afraid she wouldn’t grow up, afraid she wouldn’t be happy, wished he could cherish her in the palm of his hand.

Everyone with intentions towards her, everyone who wanted to harm her, would face Aiden Sheldon and Autumn Stetford’s fierce opposition.

But now she’s grown, already twenty-one, yet her temperament is still like a child’s.

Ruby Sheldon hurriedly said, ”Dad, I’m still young now! I don’t want to grow up!”

”Silly child...” Aiden Sheldon shook his head, ”Come on, let’s go watch the competition.”

He skillfully changed the topic, leading Ruby Sheldon towards the Stetford family’s main house.

Ruby Sheldon bit her lip, her eyes flashing with a hint of unwilling darkness.

...

In the same large study used as a meeting room at the Stetford family’s main house, when Aiden Sheldon and Ruby Sheldon entered, most people were already present.

Autumn Stetford gracefully stood up and waved to the father and daughter, saying: ”Aiden, Betty, come sit over here.”

Her position, of course, was excellent in this room, second only to the eleven judges.

After everyone was seated, Evan Stetford stood up from the chair on the podium and began to speak.

”Dear judges, audience members, and contestants, hello everyone.”

”Today marks the beginning of the second round of our eighteenth Celestial Path Sect World Cup Grand Championship competition.”

”This time, we have no commissioners, only topic presenters.”

After Evan Stetford finished speaking, he gave the podium to the host.

The host stepped up, bowed slightly to everyone, then turned on the projector, displaying the materials he had prepared on the large screen hanging on the wall in front.

Soon, a family portrait appeared on the big screen.

The photo’s background was a beautiful garden villa.

In front of the house was a lovely flower bed, and behind it was a grassy field.

A couple stood at the door with two children, smiling at the camera.

This couple looked middle-aged, but the children were still small, one about four or five years old, the other only two or three.

The host pointed to the couple and said, ”These are the two commissioners for our competition, both of Chinese descent.”

”The husband is named Yu, an executive of a listed company.”

”The wife is named Fang, a homemaker, but her family is politically affluent, having produced several state and federal legislators.”

”Their target for the commission is the same person.”
