Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1004: Chapter 476: Searching (Second Update)

Word by word, she said into the phone to Alice Blythe on the other end, ”Miss Blythe, you don’t need to feel regret or guilt.”

”What you’ve received is the best arrangement that fate could make.”

”Your life was exchanged for your parents’ lives.”

”As long as you work hard, as long as you don’t give up, as long as you live well, then they did not sacrifice their lives for nothing.”

Sometimes, if you just look at things from a different angle, the sky opens up.

Alice Blythe had just momentarily lost her way; after listening to Lawrence Winters, she really felt she couldn’t keep sinking into self-pity anymore.

Did she need to keep agonizing over whether her parents loved her?

They had already given her the answer with their lives.

What she could do—just as the Great Heavenly Master had said—was to live better, so that their spirits in heaven could be comforted to see that their daughter was worthy of what they gave.

Alice Blythe nodded hard. ”I understand. Thank you, Great Heavenly Master Winters, for comforting me!”

She added, ”Actually, those two people... when my parents were leaving, they told me that if there was anything I didn’t understand, I could come ask you. At the time I didn’t know what they meant...”

Lawrence Winters rubbed her temples and said with a faint smile, ”I was just reasoning things out, really. After all, they’re from the future, and I don’t exactly have any firm grasp on my future self either.”

She reminded her again, ”This matter, just you and I knowing is enough. There’s no need to tell anyone else. You go to the cruise liner’s side and get the surveillance footage; that’s your parents’ final images. Have a lawyer sign a privacy agreement with them and have them destroy all original records.”

Her words reminded Alice Blythe, who immediately said, ”I get it. I won’t bring this up to anyone ever again. I’ll go find a lawyer right now.”

”...Do you need me to help you find a lawyer?” Lawrence Winters asked again.

Alice Blythe was only seventeen, a little flower raised in a greenhouse, suddenly having to face such a complicated situation; Lawrence Winters was very understanding of her.

Alice Blythe shook her head. ”I brought a lawyer with me to claim my parents’ bodies, and next I’ll have to take over their company. There’s a lot I need to do. Great Heavenly Master Winters, I really thank you.”

Though she couldn’t see it, Lawrence Winters had the uncanny feeling that Alice Blythe was bowing to her over the phone.

Alice Blythe really did bow; her whole body was trembling, but she forced herself to put on a strong front.

Without her parents, she realized she had truly grown up overnight.

All those old hang-ups, those doubts, those melancholy, self-pitying musings—were all gone without a trace.

Now all she wanted was to live well, live seriously, manage the company her parents left behind, and let them see that their daughter would not disappoint them.

Seeing how orderly and methodical Alice Blythe was in handling things, Lawrence Winters admired her.

Not many people, when hit with such a drastic change at seventeen, can still keep their mind steady.

Just for that alone, Lawrence Winters also understood why her future self had agreed to help the Blythes return to the past to save their daughter who died young.

Because all of this had already happened, because she knew Alice Blythe could shoulder such a heavy burden.

...

Because she’d been held up by this, Lawrence Winters received a call from Kenneth Osborne.

She had originally planned to head over by herself, which was why she set out so early.

In the end, she still didn’t manage to get in a car and leave on her own.

She said to Kenneth Osborne, ”I just came downstairs; I’m at the hotel entrance waiting for a car.”

”Don’t rush, I’ll be right down, we’ll go together.” Kenneth Osborne casually changed into another outfit and hurried downstairs.

”Been waiting long?” He’d gone to the parking garage to get his car and now pulled up by Lawrence Winters on the road in front of the Half Moon Hotel.

Getting out of the car, he gave her a smile.

Kenneth Osborne was wearing a light gray, small stand-collar, non-iron dress shirt, paired with tailored black lightweight wool trousers, the creases razor-sharp, his legs long and straight, and at his waist, a Hermès H-buckle leather belt.

His hair had been styled; it looked casual, but this kind of ”just run your fingers through it and it falls into place” hairstyle is the priciest.

The leather casual shoes on his feet were comfortable and laid-back, but judging from the logo, they were probably LV.

From head to toe he radiated a kind of refined, rakish elegance, which only made his already out-of-this-world good looks stand out even more.

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She nodded, half-smiling, half-not. ”President Osborne’s taste has finally caught up to President Osborne’s status and position.”

Kenneth Osborne smiled calmly. ”The Great Heavenly Master Winters runs so fast—if I don’t keep up, wouldn’t I just be left behind?”

”Cut it out, I’m not ’running.’ I am a graceful, fashionable Holy Light magical girl—don’t make me sound like some rabbit.” Lawrence Winters curled her lip at him and slid into the seat as Kenneth Osborne held the car door open.
