Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1015: Chapter 480: When the City Gate Burns, the Fish in the Pond Suffer (Second Update)

The host took out the lot box and signaled the four winners of the first round to come up and draw.

Mr. Zhūgé, Daoist Wāng, and Daoist Quán all drew, but Lawrence Winters just sat there without moving.

The host walked towards her with the lot box, smiling. ”Lawrence, your lot?”

Lawrence crossed her arms and calmly said, ”... Can I choose not to draw?”

Host: ”...”

He smiled and said, ”Not draw? Are you planning to forfeit?”

Lawrence chuckled and stood up, ”Of course I won’t forfeit, but your lots may not align with my intentions.”

”Then what are your intentions?”

”I think the person with the problem is neither Mr. Yú nor Miss Táng, but Mrs. Fāng.” Lawrence smiled meaningfully, ”May I ask if Miss Táng has commissioned dealing with Mrs. Fāng? Or has anyone else commissioned dealing with Mrs. Fāng?”

The host was very surprised: ”... Handling Mrs. Fāng? Why? She’s obviously the victim...”

Lawrence swiped her hand through the lot box held by the host, making a rustling sound with the purple bamboo lot strips.

She said indifferently, ”Mrs. Fāng’s husband has a mistress. She hasn’t thought about divorcing and leaving such a rascally man but instead goes after Miss Táng. As you mentioned earlier, she used many methods against Miss Táng, attempting to make her leave her husband, but none succeeded, leading her to believe Miss Táng is ’not ordinary’ and requested us to ’restore Miss Táng to her original form.’

”Tell me, what methods did she use to make her believe Miss Táng is ’not ordinary,’ hmm?”

The inflection at the end of her words lingered long, sending shock waves through everyone’s mind.

Lawrence glanced casually down the stage, noting the astonished expressions on Autumn Stetford and Ava Harlow didn’t escape her notice.

Everyone else was either surprised or curious, but just those two were shocked, as if Lawrence said something outrageous.

Lawrence withdrew her gaze, remaining composed, continuing, ”Based on Miss Táng’s commission requests, if Miss Táng is an ordinary person, her requests are reasonable and legitimate. If Miss Táng is not ordinary, her requests are still reasonable and legitimate. So in this case, why does Mrs. Fāng seek extraordinary means to deal with her?”

”Can Mrs. Fāng really win back her husband by doing this?”

”I scorn and condemn third parties who ruin others’ marriages and families, but that doesn’t mean we can take reckless actions against third parties. Why doesn’t Mrs. Fāng deal with the third party within the legal framework?”

Lawrence expressed such views as she was uninterested in this kind of romantic entanglement case.

In the previous case, the affectionate love and protection of the Zhù couple for their daughter made her empathize greatly, feeling glad to help them.

But this time, whether Mrs. Fāng or Miss Táng wins, it’s pointless to her.

As the root cause, Mr. Yú is just a contemptible man. Is he worth two women fighting fiercely?

However, she could not withdraw from the competition, so she had to make a unique proposition.

The host was bewildered by her explanation, scratching his head, saying, ”So what does Lawrence want?”

”Prepare a separate lot for me; I’ll be a group on my own.” Lawrence smiled, ”I want to uncover the truth of this matter, not accepting commissions from either Mrs. Fāng or Miss Táng. Is that okay?”

The host was in a dilemma, looking pleadingly at the chairman of this preparatory committee, Evan Stetford.

Evan Stetford thought for a while, walked over saying, ”The key to our competition lies in the scoring by the judges. There hasn’t been a stipulation that the group completing a commission wins. From this perspective, Lawrence’s request to be a group on her own is entirely possible. She can refuse any commission and explore an alternative path to investigate the truth of this matter.”

”Only with the revelation of truth can we better understand why Mrs. Fāng and Miss Táng made such commissions.”

”This is just my opinion. Whether it’s feasible depends on the judges.”

Evan Stetford lightly tossed the ball to the judges.

The five judges from the Celestial Path Sect and the five scientist judges discussed among themselves, casting votes.

It was still five against five.

The five Celestial Path Sect judges believed Lawrence’s proposal was unprecedented, disagreeing with her forming a group on her own, asking her to either forfeit or team up with others.

The five scientist judges felt the truth is more important, noting that the participants are not lawyers and have no fiduciary duty to the clients’ commissions.

And after all, a competition is a competition, its main goal isn’t to fulfill the clients’ commissions but rather to use their commissions to verify which participant is more capable.
