Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 1011: Chapter 478: Not Understanding a Man’s Heart (Second Update)

”No need, it’s too late. You all go to sleep. I’ll come to you after the weekend.” Although Aiden Sheldon cared greatly for Ruby Sheldon, this weekend, he just wanted to be alone.

He needed to sort out some things from over twenty years ago.

”Huh? Wait until after the weekend? That’s a full two days! Daddy, no! I want to be with Daddy! Mom and I want to accompany Daddy!” Ruby Sheldon drawled, ”Where are you? Are you at the house near Central Park?”

Aiden Sheldon: ”...”

He had many properties in New York, and to directly guess the one near Central Park, his Betty was indeed clever.

Unfortunately, still not as clever and astute as Lawrence Winters...

With a sense of admiration, Aiden’s voice softened involuntarily, ”Yes, I’m here. You all sleep. Daddy is going to sleep too.”

After speaking, he hung up the phone without further ado.

Ruby Sheldon stared at her phone in disbelief that Aiden actually hung up on her!

This had never happened before!

Autumn Stetford, sitting beside her, kept silent all along.

Only after seeing the call disconnect did she softly ask, ”...Is your father at the house by Central Park?”

”Yes.” Ruby nodded, ”He’s there, he admitted it.”

Autumn was a bit anxious, ”Is he alone, or is there someone else?”

”Why would Daddy have someone else? Of course, he’s alone...” Ruby looked at Autumn in confusion, ”Mom, you’re too nervous! Daddy isn’t that kind of person.”

”I know, but your dad has been acting a bit strange lately...” Autumn said with a bitter smile, ”He’s not as doting and accommodating as he used to be with you, and he’s paying more and more attention to that Lawrence Winters...”

Everything else was fine, but at the mention of Lawrence Winters, Ruby’s guard went up.

”Impossible?!” She reflexively retorted Autumn, ”Daddy couldn’t possibly like Lawrence Winters! He’s much older than her!”

”Where is your mind going?” Autumn smirked, ”I mean, your dad’s concern for Lawrence is like an elder’s care for a younger, even when Lawrence offended you, your dad didn’t mind...”

”Huh? Yeah, it seems like that!” Ruby grew more uneasy, ”How can Dad be like this? I’m his biological daughter, after all!”

Autumn gently smoothed Ruby’s slightly curly bangs with a smile, ”Betty, you’re still young, you don’t understand men’s hearts. To them, whether one is biological isn’t that important.”

Otherwise, where would the saying ”with a stepmother comes a stepfather” originate?

Ruby immediately stood up nervously, ”Mom, let’s go find Daddy... Daddy is going to be out for the weekend, shouldn’t we go accompany him?”

”Since Betty wants to go, of course, Mom is going to fulfill Betty’s wish.” Autumn smiled, getting up, ”I’ll arrange the car; remember to bring your belongings.”

Of course, Ruby didn’t need to pack luggage, she just carried her purse with her wallet and cell phone.

After sending Ruby into the car, Autumn bent down and waved at her, ”Betty, remember to take good care of Daddy!”

”Mom, aren’t you coming?” Ruby asked in surprise, ”I’m going alone?”

”Your Aunt Blue and cousin are staying here; if we all leave, they’d feel awkward.” Autumn affectionately patted Ruby’s round cheeks.

Ruby frowned, ”Why don’t they stay at their own homes? It’s not like they don’t have properties in New York.”

”Betty, don’t say that, little girls should be sweet, adorable, innocent. Being so meticulous isn’t pretty... Also, your dad doesn’t like girls who are petty either...” Autumn joked.

Ruby quickly nodded, wide-eyed, ”I know what to do, Mom!”

Watching the car drive Ruby away, Autumn straightened up slowly, folding her arms.

Under the streetlight, her expression was extremely cold.

...

This weekend, Lawrence Winters continued with her rehabilitation and began looking into some materials on Four-Dimensional Space.

She wanted to know how to harness her ”Black Rider.”

However, she found a lot of books filled with profoundly complex physics.

Having not studied physics since starting college, this liberal arts major struggled to comprehend most of it.

Nonetheless, her math skills were very strong, so she started looking for a calculus tutorial online and watched it for two days.

By Monday morning, Kenneth Osborne brought her breakfast, saying, ”We’re heading to the Stetford Family together. The topic for the second round of the contest will be announced there, right?”

Lawrence Winters nodded, ”Yes, this time it’s the semi-finals, but we still don’t know the groupings.”
