Cursed Immortality

Chapter 951: Harbinger of Disaster! (2)

Jacob was shocked when the Soulless Palace suddenly started to crack, and then even the Throne of the Soulless began to shake violently before cracks appeared. Powerful energy fluctuations rippled through the throne hall.

Although this situation was completely unexpected, Jacob had a pretty good idea of what caused it. Before he could react, the Soul Ghost King Almaʼs hysterical scream, filled with terrifying shockwaves, reverberated throughout the Soulless Palace.

”NOOOOOOO! THE SEAL!!!???!!!”

Jacob instantly looked at her and saw her throne was filled with cracks, and a mysterious light was oozing through the cracks. Not only that but as both thrones crumbled, layers of runes surfaced throughout the throne room!

However, he didnʼt have time to assess because the Soul Ghost Kingʼs ghost form was flickering like raging flames, and he could feel she was losing her mind.

”Calm down!” Jacobʼs assertive voice rang as he used soul force to break her hysteria.

However, this only made it worse because the next moment, the Soul Ghost Kingʼs eyes shone with maddening killing intent. She glared at Jacob, and he instantly felt a sense of danger.

”You did this!” She roared, and the next moment, countless wailing ghosts started to surface from her ghost form, ”You broke the seal and doomed our race!”

ʼThis bitch!ʼ Jacob knew the time for talk was over, and whatever this seal was, it seemed quickly important to Soul Ghost King, not to mention the Ghost Race.

Furthermore, now that the Soullessʼs throne was crumbling, the Soul Ghost King wouldnʼt fear the Soulless Ghost King anymore, and Jacob felt she was sane enough to consider this.

A plan instantly formed in Jacobʼs mind to get rid of Soul Ghost King since he couldnʼt take her down in this form while he was still exhausted. If he wished to recover his prowess, heʼd lose more lifespan, and if he used those life crystals, the Soul Ghost King wouldnʼt be kind enough to let him recover.

In fact, the moment he showed his true form, the Soul Ghost King would attack him even more fiercely, and those ghost ministers and members of the Soulless Palace would attack him together once they found he wasnʼt their king.

Even if he wasnʼt afraid of them, he was wary of Soul Ghost King, and getting rid of her was the priority, and he didnʼt want to drag this.

”Alright, since you want to know the truth, follow me, and Iʼll show you why this is happening!” Jacob roared under the sea of ghosts created by the Soul Ghost King.

The next moment, a portal opened in front of Jacob, and he entered it without hesitation, escaping the sea of ghosts before it could overwhelm him.

”W-what!?” The Soul Ghost King, hidden in the sea of ghosts, was startled when Jacob suddenly opened a portal. This shouldnʼt have been possible because this was her absolutely ghost domain, powered by her unique ghost form.

Even a Legendary King with a space soul totem wonʼt be able to use space portals within. Yet the Soulless Ghost King had done it, and she suddenly felt uneasy because despite the throne of the Soulless and the seal starting to break, the ʼSoulless Ghost Kingʼ could still use power beyond his means.

Furthermore, with his suspicious behavior and this sudden crisis, the Soul Ghost Kingʼs confidence started to waver. Her hysterical behavior was nothing but a façade to eliminate Soulless Ghost King, especially now that she had gotten a chance.

The broken seal wasnʼt actually harmful to Soul Ghost King, but on the opposite, it was a massive opportunity for her to claim her freedom. She wouldʼve never expected the chance she was looking for to break this seal for a very long time to be granted to her by none other than the Herald of Soulless!

In fact, she had already lost all her hopes and considered it impossible. She knew that if that seal were broken, the entire Ghost Race would lose its dominion over the Ghost Domain and slowly wane away, turning into a Lord Race like the Skeletal Race, the Zombie Race, and others without any legendary kings in its ranks.

After all, the Soul Abyss was the only reason the Ghost Race was born with the potential of reaching the Legendary King. At the same time, anyone who inherited the title of the Soulless would become a Legendary King within a few years.

Yet not only was the seal broken, but she didnʼt even need to do it personally to become the traitor and sinner of the Ghost Race. She felt no joy in it since Blackwell was dead. With the seal gone, the other powers would soon realize the Soulless Palace had lost its protection, especially with Jacobʼs action of turning against the Dead Faction.

But before any of this, the Soul Ghost King had to take care of the Soulless Ghost King, who was behind all of this, and she also needed to know what had happened to him and that still open portal was the only thing that could possibly give her answers.

Lastly, the Soul Ghost King still suspects the Soulless Ghost King of killing Blackwell, but now that he has lost his authority and freed her, she has nothing to be afraid of.

Moreover, now she had a righteous reason to get rid of the Soulless Ghost King and then claim the throne of the Ghost Raceʼs only king, her birthright!

Yet, she still didnʼt underestimate the Soulless Ghost King and sent her ghost slaves into the opened portal.

However, the moment they enter that portal, the Soul Ghost King instantly loses all connections with those ghost slaves, alarming her. After all, ghost slaves were part of her own soul, and unless they were killed, it was almost impossible to free or snatch a ghostʼs ghost slave.

Yet this situation was quite strange because her ghost slave wasnʼt killed or attacked; instead, her connection with them was suddenly as if something had turned it off.

The Soul Ghost King became even warier as she sent hundreds of ghost slaves inside, yet the same result every time.

”Where did this portal lead to?” she wondered gravely. Could it be that this portal leads to the inheritance grounds, where the treasury vault is also located? Only that place forbids fighting or attacks and has absolute authority over the Ghost Race. This means that if I go in, he wonʼt be able to attack me. Furthermore, he said the answers lie beyond that portal. Was he telling the truth?”

The more Soul Ghost King thinks about it, the more things start to make sense to her, yet she is still hesitating.

However, at this moment, the entire Soulless Palace started to cave in, and those runes were getting dimmer while the two thorns were like a ticking time bomb about to burst apart, and a terrifying momentum was forming within.

The Soulless Ghost King instantly made her decision, and her cold voice reverberated throughout the Soulless Palace: ”Everyone evacuates the Soulless Palace! This was done by the Soulless Ghost King, who had turned traitor, and now Iʼm going to pursue him to bring justice to the Ghost Race!”

After defaming the Soulless Ghost King, the Soul Ghost King retracted her domain, turning back to her shadowy ghost form. Like a dark cloud, she drifted towards the portal. With a moment of hesitation, she vanished into it, and the portal closed!
