Cursed Immortality

Chapter 981: The Target and Partnership

Jacob had already considered this possibility about using this ’Timeless Sand,’ and now that Constant Baron-0 had confirmed it, he started to get an idea of how the ATLAS works and where the complication lies.

’These rankings might appear meaningless, but they are not simultaneously because the higher a Constant is ranked in this hierarchy, the harder it is for them to promote further, because the higher the rank, the more limited the slots.

’Like there are one million Iron Constant but when it comes to Constant Noble, there are only 10,000, and Constant Barons are only 5,000. The Constant Viscount would be even more limited, probably in one or two thousand.

’So, even a Constant Baron completed their unique life experience, as long as a Constant Viscount won’t promote or demote, they can do nothing but wait. This means that Constant Baron in single-digit rankings and those in the higher rankings would also catch up with the complete Baron rank hourglasses.

’That’s why, it’ll become a fierce competition to get the 0 number so they could be the first to promote when a slot opens. This way, ATLAS can make them do these ’missions’ with diligence and everything they have to promote themselves.

’The true viciousness of this system is that they can’t kill each other, forcing them to use their wits instead. They might be able to scheme against one another, but everyone’s main target would always be the person standing at the very top, which in this case is Constant Baron-0.

’Now that she knew I could truly kill those constants, she naturally wanted to use it to her advantage, while she might’ve thought that she was doing it for the ’Lord’. Furthermore, her ’trust’ is becoming more powerful as she believes in the ’Lord’...’ He mused with a sharp glint in his eyes.

Jacob nodded, ”Alright, I’ll help you with your problem as long as you can ensure it won’t be traced back to me. Furthermore, since this is a private deal between us, I would appreciate it if you keep it that way.” He hinted meaningfully.

Constant Baron-0 didn’t find it strange. In fact, this makes Jacob’s performance even more believable and convinces her that he was doing this ’independently’ and was afraid of the ’Lord’.

”That goes without saying.” Constant Baron-0 quickly agreed and then said, ”The problem I want you to get rid of is another Constant Baron, who lived on the 100th floor of the Timeless Tower, which means right below this floor. His Constant Baron number is ’1’.

”Any Constant Baron ranking from 0 to 100th will give a floor in the Timeless Tower, the highest 101st floor for the ’0’, while the lowest floor is the ’100’.”

When Jacob heard it, he was slightly startled because he wasn’t expecting there would be 100 Constant Barons right below his feet, and a killing intent rose in his heart for a moment.

After all, he was almost sure the Constant Baron level Timeless Hourglass should be ’complete’ or ’perfect’ hourglasses. Immortika had hinted it, and once he killed just 9 or 18 of these constant barons, he would instantly achieve his purpose.

But now that he was learning so much from Constant Baron-0 and taking advantage of his enemy, the ATLAS, he wasn’t in a hurry because he might never get another chance like this in the future.

There were still those Disc Assassins he wanted to know about, and probably more core secrets of the ATLAS. Lastly, he needed to ’meet’ that Golden Constant who had painted a target on his head.

Constant Baron-0 would have imagined what Jacob was thinking right now as she continued, ”But despite that, not all the Constant Barons stay in the Timeless City since those who have incomplete timeless hourglasses like to wander outside where they can gain richer life experience.”

Jacob didn’t find it strange since this made more sense, ”If that’s the case, then this Constant Baron-1 should also be outside the Timeless City?”

Constant Baron-0 shook her head, ”No, he’s within the Timeless Tower because including me, Constant Baron, 1, 5, 6, 9, 13, 18, 21, 28, 33, 34, 45, 59, 60, 63, 72, 81, 88, 89, 90, 94, and 100 have all completed our baron timeless hourglasses which made us all qualified to go to the Upper Plains.”

’Like her, huh? Which means, they are all legendary kings...not even the Dead Faction has so many legendary kings. If all these guys decided to attack any faction, they could absolutely sweep them. But they’re afraid of alarming the Zodiac Plains Enforcers...’

”So, you want to get rid of Constant Baron-1 because he’s the closest to your rank while the next one is Constant Baron-5, right?”

”Indeed. Although I’m not sure, I have reason to believe that the Constant Baron-1 is very close to gathering enough Timeless Sand to claim the ’0’ rank. That’s why he needed to be gone!” Constant Baron-0 coldly stated, ”Furthermore, the Constant Baron-1, 5, and 9 probably have the same Constant Viscount backer. Because they are too close and always have secret meetings, not to mention they would always do missions together.”

”If that’s true, then how are you planning to lure Constant Baron-1 out of the Timeless City, since I don’t think it’s a good idea to kill him within this tower?” Jacob calmly inquired, and he didn’t sound worried at all as he waited for Constant Baron-0 to reveal her actual trump card.

Constant Baron-0 finally revealed her plan, ”A few days ago, Constant Baron-1 added new information within the Timeless Hourglass Achieve. They found a newly established Secret Fraternity by powerful Legendary Kings, and there were even suspected Quasi-Myths involved.

”Those three seem to be very interested in this Secret Fraternity, and the Timeless Hourglass also judged it ’important’, which put a huge reward behind it. So, I’m also gathering information on them. Once I have it, I’ll give you details with the entire plan. For now, you should focus on the Lord’s task!”

Jacob looked at Constant Baron-0 meaningfully before nodding, ”As you wish!”

This was the start of Jacob’s ’partnership’ with Constant Baron-0!
