Cursed Immortality

Chapter 958: Crazy Researcher

Within the Infinite Space, a ten-meter tri-colored Life Bane Wheel was revolving in front of Jacob like a celestial ring; the three sections, black, white, and purple, were pulsing, especially the purple section; there seemed to be something squirming inside.

An unknown ghostly glyph seemed to be slowly manifesting within the purple section, Spectral Despair, and Jacobʼs eyes were fixed on it as if he were obsessed.

But just as that glyph was about to manifest, the Spectral Despair trembled, and the glyph instantly shattered.

Jacobʼs eyes flickered with a hint of uncertainty, and he started to mutter something into an active wisdom tome in his hand, ”Evolution of Spectral Despair Trial-5th, failed again! The aspect of Spectral Despair still failed to assimilate the structure of the Ghost Form. Itʼs always failed at 50%, and after the fifth try, Iʼm sure the Spectral Despair lacks negative life force cognition. Nonetheless, I can feel the Spectral Despair is becoming more refined. I also manage to get important data with the eyes…”

The wisdom tome in his hand shone brightly as Jacob recorded his insights into it, which couldnʼt be explained with words. It was a unique function of Legendary King Rank Wisdom Tome, and he not only got the formula to make it, but the Myriad Galaxy King also had many finished products in his treasury.

After recording at this point, Jacob retracted the Life Bane Wheel. The moment the giant manifestation vanished, a fragile body fell to the ground—it was Alma!

However, unlike her majestic and imposing self, Almaʼs ethereal, transparent skin was now wilted and almost seemed like a layer of membrane, and her bone structure almost seemed to be filled with black fissures. Her hair was thin and lifeless, and the ghostly light in her eyes seemed to be on the verge of vanishing.

Jacob looked at Alma with no emotion, just a calculative glimmer. His focus was on the glyph and her unique orbits. Although she seemed to be on the verge of death, the glyph seemed to be keeping her alive without showing any signs of waning.

”I must say, the growth-type magic core is something else. This is the entire reason for you awakening your Ghost Form, and itʼs completely connected with the glyph you called the ʼGhost Sigil.ʼ

”If I didnʼt know better, I wouldʼve considered you a Zodiac Constitution. Itʼs a pity you are not, but you might be very close to one. Specimen-1, you might be able to barely survive till I assimilate your Ghost Form secret with your growth-type magic core.

”Alright, rest for now before we start our next series of experiments. Since youʼve been cooperative, Iʼll give you a single drop of Death Law Essence. If you donʼt want to get devoured by my Spectral Despair, you need to endure; if you want to end it all, just surrender your soul to despair!” Jacob impassively stated.

He sent her away in some corner of the Infinite Space while also giving her a drop of Death Essence, he had plenty. Furthermore, he really didnʼt want her to die now because after interrogating Alma, he discovered her true talent and just how many secrets she was hiding.

First, she had a growth-type magic core, which Alma called the ʼYin Ghost Core.ʼ She probably awakened her Ghost Form because of this growth-type magic.

Second, Alma revealed that when a Ghost King awakens its Ghost Form, it receives unique ʼGhost Sigilsʼ, which contain secrets of the Ghost Form. These Sigils were like bloodline legacies of the Ghost Race, and not even the Soulless Ghost King knew about them.

As a matter of fact, no one in the entire ghost race knows about it, and there is no record of it. It seemed to be a secret deliberately hidden from the others, and only the owner of a Ghost From was privy to it.

Alma also revealed that her Ghost Form can only reach its full potential after she became a Mythical Ghost King, and it can also help her become a Mythical King, as for who, even she didnʼt know that. She only told him that the Ghost Sigil released this information when she became a peak legendary king.

In fact, Alma couldʼve become a Quasi-Myth long ago with the Ghost Form, but because of the seal, she couldnʼt increase her power beyond the legendary king rank, and Soulless Ghost King again escaped a disaster unknowingly.

Lastly, Jacob wanted to confiscate her entire wealth, which was pitiful compared to the Soulless Ghost King. However, nothing interested him, so he let her keep it in the end.

However, Jacob got something even more valuable: a piece of information on another Law Essence!

ʼNow that Iʼm stuck with the Spectral Despair, I need to increase its proficiency before assimilating the Ghost Form and then evolving it. I need more negative life force, and the easiest way to get it is through the Divine Soulless Pagoda or devouring Ghosts.

ʼLetʼs keep the Divine Soulless Pagoda aside first. The Law Essence she told me about is the law essence of Space, the same one with incomplete information. And itʼs in the hands of a Fiend King of Evil Domain…

ʼSince Ghost Domain is about to fall into ruin, and the war I ensued before this, as long as I find myself a new identity, I can freely hunt down Ghosts. Furthermore, Iʼve already imbued my Life Bane Wheel with Ghost Racesʼ top aspects, and the Life Devour is also slightly inspired by the Vampire Race.

ʼI should capture a legendary king Vampire Race specimen and a Fiend Race legendary king specimen to strengthen my Life Bane Wheel further, and who knows, I might get another inspiration for a new aspect!ʼ

Jacobʼs eyes flickered as he made his decision. But before that, he needed to make sure the outside was safe. He then stowed away his personal wisdom, and the next moment, he was out of Infinite Space, where he opened the portal.

However, Jacob didnʼt use the Gluttony Mask this time because the Soulless Ghost Kingʼs identity was already useless, if not dangerous to him. Furthermore, if the outside was chaotic, he needed his own body to react fastest!
