Cursed Immortality

Chapter 954: Soul Abyss!

After dealing with Alma, Jacob focused on recovering from his exhaustion. He can recover almost ten times faster inside the Infinite Space than outside it.

Furthermore, Jacob had no idea what had happened in the Soulless Palace. Still, he wasnʼt in a hurry to interrogate Alma. He knew he couldnʼt leave the Infinite Space right away and might find himself in the middle of something dangerous.

After all, Alma was pretty hysteric about this ʼsealʼ destruction, and from Jacobʼs own conjecture, he felt that all this fiasco was related to the Divine Soulless Pagoda.

In three days, Jacob recovered to his peak state and finally felt much better. Without hesitation, he called, ”Specimen-1, join me!”

Jacob is currently in the center of the Infinite Space, where he has arranged all the equipment he has. Most of them were from the Myriad Galaxy Palace, while some of them were from where he had gathered in his years of travels. This was Jacobʼs ʼopen lab.ʼ

Since this world was an enclosed space, and no one could harm or infiltrate it without Jacobʼs permission, he didnʼt bother to build a structure. In fact, he had already taken the entire Infinite Space as his future lab, which would continue to expand with him.

Moreover, he was already planning on gathering specimens and even some slave assistants to do minor rudimentary tasks. Once someone saw this place, Jacob had no intention of letting them leave unless they were like Autarch, Nyx, or Elia.

Other than his ʼopen lab,ʼ which only covered around ten kilometers of infinite space, the rest were empty, and Jacob also had other plans regarding it. As for Alma, she seemed to be wandering aimlessly after Jacob dismissed her three days ago in the infinite space like a wandering ghost.

But once Jacob called, she instantly teleported in front of him. Her empty eyes fluctuated ever so slightly when she saw Jacob surrounded by the unique alchemy equipment, the pride and joy of the Alchemy Guild. Yet he somehow had them.

Nonetheless, it really didnʼt matter to her anymore. She had lost her freedom, hope, and even her family. But for some strange reason, her hatred for Jacob was deteriorating, and a hint of respect was forming in her mind, and she didnʼt even notice it.

Jacob was sitting in front of a huge metallic table outlined with peculiar runic lines as if divided into sections. This table was not a regular table. It was a unique ʼDate Analyzing Stationʼ that could analyze samples of blood, plantations, ores, and even living things.

Furthermore, this was only one of its main features. It can also store almost limitless data, run tests, and even crack cryptic data. This was the most important thing in the entire lab of the Myriad Galaxy King, and almost all the records of his lifeʼs research were stored there after he became an Alchemy King.

This station was only granted to an Alchemy King by the Alchemy Guild, and it needed to return to the Guild once the Alchemist died. There was a special function installed in it that could send a signal back to the guild once someone other than its owner came in contact with it for a certain period.

But itʼs too bad. In infinite space, such functions were meaningless, and despite this Date Analyzing Station being a Quasi-Legendary King Rank treasure, it wasnʼt a soul artifact but a wonder of magic technology.

Now, it was Jacobʼs, and he had already found all the information in Myriad Galaxy Kingʼs belongings. Not only that, but the Alchemy King also recorded all the equipment. Like any other alchemist, he was obsessed with recording his alchemy research, and the equipment was a crucial part of it.

When Jacob saw Alma, he could feel the change starting to take place. Within a few years, she would completely forget about her hatred for him and become a loyal slave.

”I have summoned you today to ask you some questions. Answer them truthfully, for I can see through your lies, and itʼs also best for you not to hide anything from me because you choose this route to save yourself the torture and misery once you dare to resist me.

”Forget about the outside world. Now, this is your new world. Who knows, as long as you are cooperative, and I get what I want from you without you dying, I might even consider changing your status from a ʼSpecimenʼ to an ʼAssistance.ʼ

”You are nothing but a legendary king, but if you can survive your life as a specimen, I might even help you become a Mythical King. I always repay my enemies with miserable death and obedient helots with adequate rewards.”

Jacobʼs words seemed to have little effect on Alma, yet despite not being obvious, he could sense the change in her mind, which seemed to have intensified very slightly.

His eyes flickered subtly, ʼJust as I thought, the Soul Tether Hexʼs effect can be increased as long as the boundaries of the set rule are influencing the victim.ʼ

He asked, ”Tell me, what kind of seal were you talking about back in the throne hall?”

Alma emotionlessly replied, ”It was an ancestral seal created upon the foundation of the Ghost Domain by the Soulless Ghost Ancestor when the Ancestor opened the Soul Abyss.

”According to the annals of the ʼSoul Ghost Clan,ʼ the Soul Abyss was created by the Soulless Ghost Ancestorʼs godly prowess, and the reason the Ghost Race evolved from a Lord Race to a King Race was precisely because of the Soul Abyss.

”However, it was stated that the Soul Abyss was highly unstable, and to keep it from erupting and losing its power, the Ancestor also created a Soulless Seal, which was the Soulless Palace and the Throne of the Soulless and the Throne of the Soul were core of this Soulless Seal.

”For generations, the Soulless and Soul titles have been passed down in the Soulless Ghost Clan and the Soul Ghost Clan of Ghost Domain, who will inherit the Soulless Ghost King and Soul Ghost King positions in the Soulless Palace.

”The Soulless Ghost King always has prime authority over the Soulless Palace, and they are always the most talented male successors chosen for this title, while on our side, the Soul Ghost King title is inherited by the most talented woman.

”But no matter who ends up with these titles, they will always have to marry and then create a single heir for each generation. If the heir is a male, they will be sent to the Soulless Ghost Clan, while if itʼs a woman, she will go to the Soul Ghost Clan.

”However, creating an heir also has another meaning in our Soulless and Soul Ghost Clans: once an heir is made, the legacy shrines will be activated again and gather power to create the next generationʼs Soulless and Soul Ghost Kings in 10,000 Years.

”Which also means the reigning Soulless Ghost King and Soul Ghost King will have no choice but to abdicate their titles and enter the Soul Abyss, which, according to the records, leads to the Mythical Ascension Bridge!”

Jacob impassively listened all this time, but when he heard the final part, his eyes flickered furious, and a strange glint shimmered in his eyes when he heard ʼMythical Ascension Bridgeʼ was inside the Soul Abyss.

Suddenly, Soullessʼs jeering words repeated in his mind about tricking the Soulless Ghost Ancestor into going into the Mythical Ascension Bridge without an Ascension Permit.

Now, he was almost certain that Soulless had tricked the Soulless Ghost Ancestor more than once, and all those previous Soulless Ghost Kings and Soul Ghost Kings were most likely dead, or there was another deeper purpose!
