Cursed Immortality

Chapter 994: Assassins of ATLAS

Jacob’s soul puppet suddenly shifted its attention from his ’meditative’ state, and the next moment, Constant Baron-0 appeared in front of him.

”I hope you are bearing good news.” Jacob impassively stated while looking at the cloaked figure of the Constant Baron-0.

Constant Baron-0 remained silent, but Jacob could feel her scrutinizing gaze on him; she might have sensed the change since this wasn’t his actual body. Nonetheless, Jacob didn’t care even if she could see through the soul puppet because it would change nothing.

”I have gathered the information on the Law Essences. The Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water are the most common law essences; almost all the elemental galaxies can produce these four common-tier law essences. Organizations like the three absolute factions should have them, even our Timeless City has them. How much do you need? I can have them retrieve it.” Constant Baron-0 revealed curtly, and she clearly didn’t figure out the identity of the soul puppet in front of her.

Jacob was slightly surprised but wasn’t by much, ”Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I need 15,000 drops for each element’s law essence. What about others?”

”15,000 drops? Even the rarest superior-tier elements, like Space and Time? Are you joking? Even in the history of the Legendary Plains, I’ve only heard there were about 1000 drops of Space law essence found, and even then, it raised a storm. As for the essence of the Time law, there are no records related to it. Because anything related to ’Time’ is very mysterious, and even if someone found something, they won’t be foolish enough to publish it.”

Constant Baron-0 exclaimed with incredulity as she wasn’t expecting Jacob to require so much Law Essence, and on top of that, he wants Law Essence of ten different elements, which include space and time!

”If you have questions, take it to ’Dreamy’, I need them to complete the Lord’s task, and I was told you can help me. If you have doubts, complain somewhere else.” Jacob coldly retorted.

Constant Baron-0 trembled slightly when Jacob mentioned ’Dreamy’; she almost forgot who Jacob represented, and quickly changed her tone.

”Apologies, I was out of line. I can arrange for Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water Law Essences for you.

”Since you need such a large quantity, then the Law Essence of Life is in the hand of Witch Race, they are in the possession of an elemental galaxy which is rich with life element, scarce, and they won’t allow any outsider to enter because it’s their headquarters, just like the War Giants’ Enigma Elemental Galaxy.

”The Law Essence of Dark is under the Dark Kingdom’s control, another elemental galaxy, but this galaxy is open to Dark Count, and above Dark Nobles. Lightning Essence is rare, but I have recently found a source, and I’m currently working on figuring it out. It won’t be long.

”Which again, left us with the Law Essence of Space, Time, and Void. Truth be told, I never heard about the ’Void’ element before, and the only void I’m familiar with is the Universal Void between the boundary of Lesser, Middle, and Upper Plains. So, this Void Essence might be there, but that place is nothing but the territory of death; if someone goes too deep, they are forever lost.

”Lastly, just as I mentioned, the Space Law Essence is too rare, and there wasn’t any information on it to go around. However, I do hear that a Fiend King of the Fiend Race had it, but we both know what happened to the Fiend Race, and even if they were around, I don’t think he would have enough to meet your demand.

”But I do uncover a piece of information after digging into this Fiend King, it seems he had also acquired it by chance from the depths of a chaotic space. However, it was just a rumor; no one can confirm it, since venturing into the depths of chaotic space and coming out alive is no different from venturing into the Universal Void. He was probably spreading these rumors to trick others into killing themselves. As for Time, even after all this, I found no clues, not even a rumor to go around.” Constant Baron-0 truthfully explained what she was able to find.

’I don’t need lightning law essence anyone, and after I got those four common-tier law essences, I can go after the Life and Dark law essences now that I know their locations. But just as she said, the law of Void is really troublesome, since there is no information on it, and I don’t want to dive into the Universal Void.

’As for the laws of space and time, what should be done? Do I have to use Wish to find these three law essences? Let’s gather the ones I can before worrying about the last three...’

Jacob thought.
”Alright.” Jacob nodded in understanding.

Constant Baron-0 felt relief before she ambiguously said, ”About our deal the other day...”

”Speak freely.”

”Constant Baron-1 is about to make his move. Although I don’t know the details, Constant Baron-5 and Constant Baron-9 have summoned a few ’Noble Assassins’, and they wouldn’t have summoned them unless they’re planning to make a big move personally.” Constant Baron-0 revealed.

Jacob’s eyes flickered when he heard ’Noble Assassin’ and couldn’t help but think about those ’disk freaks’ he had encountered in the past.

”What Noble Assassins?” Jacob has to confirm his guess since he got the chance to know more about them.

”Just like the Star Hackers, who are a branch of ATLAS, and their role is to be the face of ATLAS, and the Assassins are ATLAS’s hidden fighting force, and are fully armed. They do all the killing, and they can also be ’hired’ by Constants with Timeless Sand.

”But unlike us, the Assassins have no free will, they can’t think for themselves, and their only role is to obey the command of Timeless Hourglass, or the Constants allowed by the Timeless Hourglass.

”You can even think of them as living puppets, but they are not like undead or a Necromancer’s summons because they are made with...” Suddenly, Constant Baron-0 abruptly paused, ”Why am I telling you this?”

Jacob kept silent, but a hint of frustration flashed across his eyes as he pretended to be clueless. ”I have no idea.”

Despite Constant Baron-0’s doubts, she brushed it off as if a slip of tongue, and finished what she wanted to say, ”Anyway, all you needed to know is like constants, Assassins are ranked the same way. Iron Assassins have the lowest strength, while a Noble Assassin is a legendary rank existence. The highest Assassins present in the Timeless City are Baron Assassins; they are Legendary King State experts, and they are costly to hire.

”So, since those guys are hiring Noble Assassins, this could only mean they are going to do something outside the city, and I want you to take care of them. Can you do it?”

Jacob pulled a toothy smile on his ghost face as he answered, ”When do we start?”
