Cursed Immortality

Chapter 993: The ‘Dead’ Egg

The Star Auction Virtual House’s in-house auction ended with many strange events and raised a lot of rumors.

In the end, the almost forgotten Champion King suddenly appeared in the public view again, and because of this legendary existence, Nyx was completely ignored.

Nyx successfully managed to win the final item, but to get that item, she needed to sign a Zodiac Soul Oath Contract or have a Legendary King sign it. Which was quite simple; she got a physical Zodiac Soul Oath Contract through the Soul Star Watch’s teleportation function, with all the conditions already written by SAAI.

But Jacob was the one who signed it before the Soul Star Watch retrieved the contract, and a few moments later, another item was sent in his way with a letter.

Jacob glanced at the letter, and the seller actually sent it with a polite yet straightforward command, they want him to ’report’ to his duty within 30 days at some location in the Cosmic Continent of Leo, and also a Star ID, probably belonging to the seller who has successfully ’hired’ him. He merely snickered, and the next moment, the letter turned into ashes.

Only then did Jacob look at the 18-inch, ash-gray egg in his hand, and its shell had a texture like a gem, smooth yet sturdy; it was the ’dead egg’ he had received for providing his services.

Without hesitation, Jacob again changed his position with his soul puppet and returned to the infinite space. After all, he had been outside in his true body ever since the auction had started, so he was afraid that the ’hunter’ might appear here.

Although he had already gained a deeper understanding of the location where the Timeless City was, he wasn’t going to believe it was completely safe. Even his Universal Godly Artifact can be rendered useless with the correct method, so he doesn’t believe for a second that a chaotic space can’t be dealt with.

Once he returned, Jacob appeared within a concealed location protected by thick iron walls. Within this location, a pond with pitch liquid was located, which was the death law essence!

Furthermore, not far away from the pound was a large glass container filled with a pale, ethereal golden liquid; it was the Light Law Essence, which he had swindled from the Champion King!

The next moment, Jacob flipped his hand, and a new container, filled with sky blue liquid, appeared in his hand. It was the Lightning Law Essence he had gotten from today’s auction.

”Nine more to go!” Jacob muttered as he placed the new law essence beside the others.

He was about to teleport back to his lab when suddenly, the gray egg in his hand trembled slightly, instantly drawing Jacob’s attention.

’Is it alive?’ Astounded, Jacob looked at the Gray Egg, and his Eyes of Judge burned fiercely, but he wasn’t able to see through this egg.

But at this moment, the egg trembled again, and this time, it suddenly showed signs of being pulled, and the direction it was getting attracted to was none other than the open pond of the Death Law Essence!

’Interesting...’ Jacob was intrigued as he flicked his finger, and a drop of Death Law Essence suddenly appeared above the egg and landed on its smooth surface.

Under Jacob’s scrutiny, the drop of death law essence instantly absorbed into the Gray Egg, and the next moment, the attraction force became stronger.

”Don’t tell me this is some Dark Beast?” Jacob assumed, but nevertheless, he had quite a lot of Death Essence, and this egg seemed to have even tricked SAAI; it was clearly alive, yet it had been declared dead.

Even he himself couldn’t detect any vitality from it, and if he hadn’t taken it in this place by pure coincidence, he wouldn’t have discovered this reaction as well.

Moreover, anything that can absorb the drop of a superior-tier law essence is anything but ordinary. Jacob then continued to ’feed’ the egg with death essence, since he had much to spare.

In the entire Legendary Plains, only Jacob might have so much law essence to waste it like this just to quench his curiosity.

As each drop dripped on the egg one by one, the egg’s surface would instantly absorb it, and after a hundred drops, a change happened on the egg’s surface.

The top of the gray egg suddenly started to become black, which made Jacob even more determined to continue. When the 1000th drop fell on the egg’s surface, 2 inches out of 18 inches of the egg’s top were completely pitch black, just like the Death Law Essence.

However, an even more strange thing happened when the 1001st drop fell on the surface; it suddenly slipped off the shell without leaving a single trace.

Jacob was surprised and quickly caught the drop before it fell, only to have it drop again on the Egg’s surface. The result was the same; even after dropping more than ten times, the same thing repeated itself.

Furthermore, the attraction force was completely gone, and there was only one possibility: ”You’re full?”

However, at this moment, Jacob was given another surprise, which was even more unexpected, because the egg again showed an attraction force. Still, this time, this attraction was not from the death essence, but from the Light Essence!

Jacob’s eyes flickered profoundly, ”Let’s see, you showed a strong reaction towards the Death Essence first because it wasn’t contained in a container, and after you consumed 1000 drops of Death Essence, you’ve already got enough of Death Essence. Then you showed a strong reaction to the Light Essence, which means you now need 1000 drops of Light Essence? Or is this some unique pattern?

”But what’s strange is, what kind of egg can feed on pure law essence before hatching? Not to mention, if I follow this black pattern, then doesn’t this mean, even if I feed you the Light Law Essence, I’ll still need other law essences and the next one might not be the lightning law essence...not to mention I won’t be using those law essences since I also have limited amount of them. Not until I have something more precious to gain...”

Jacob looked at the trembling gray egg, which seemed to want to fly towards the light essence, but was too weak to escape his grip.

Still, Jacob was very curious about what this egg was and its origin, and after thinking for a moment, he thought, ”Infinity Blood Sacrifice!”
