Beneath the Red Dragon

Thus, Sakaro habitually swallowed, pretending not to care about the aroma of meat and meals from the basket. He let the women who volunteered to join the logistics team deliver warm food to the warriors resting against the city wall while guarding, which is all they could do from the rear.

One by one, the warriors saw the warm food and rushed forward. After being buffeted by the cold wind at night, even hiding behind the battlements was somewhat chilling, urgently needing a substantial amount of food and energy.

Occasionally, some grumbling voices would be heard.

”Why is it always pea dry rice and fish fillets? I want to eat meat!”

”I also haven’t had a real piece of meat in a long time.”

”Come on,” another warrior said vaguely, ”it’s good enough you have dry rice and fish fillets to eat. Large pieces of meat are a privilege only enjoyed by the most valiant Dragon Legion.”

”If you’re brave enough to lead the charge into those demon hordes like them, you could enjoy big pieces of meat, and maybe even have some of the grandmother’s brewed ale.”

The complaints quickly quieted down, replaced by the sound of warriors gobbling down their food, with no one daring to question the valor of the Dragon Legion.

The demon heads hanging on the city walls, along with the demon corpses scattered across the field of view, are proof of the courage and might of the Dragon Legion. Even the thought of complaining vanished from their hearts.

Sakaro took this moment to observe all around from the city wall.

The giant crossbows and stone-throwing cannons mounted on the city walls have seen so much wear and tear during the continuous wars that they’re barely serviceable after repairs. Even the stock of crossbow arrows is low, though the materials for the stone-throwing cannon are quite plentiful on this peninsula.

Once bundles and bundles of arrows were transported, now they’re pitifully scarce, only gathered every three to five steps, placed directly in the open air on the city wall walkways.

The reason isn’t that these warriors don’t understand the techniques of maintenance and upkeep, rather, once engaged in battle with demons, they barely have time to grab weapons from behind and beside them. A little slower, and the overwhelming demons would break through the entire section of the wall’s defense.

Sakaro heard that the casting materials retained by the Imperial Legion mages are also running low. These mages can rely on casting materials to cast spells more quickly and use more powerful magic.

But once the casting materials are exhausted, they can only rely on their own magic power output, causing the casters to deplete faster. After one battle, they may need to replenish their magic power several times, while also having to rest their spiritual power.

He could only silently pray in his heart, ”Great Dragon God, as radiant as the sun, may your will once again illuminate this land.”

Sakaro continued to silently pray while leading the logistics team on the city walls. This is the most dangerous front-line segment where battles can erupt at any moment. Only by personally delivering can he be assured that these warriors get a warm meal in time.

He walked along, stopping occasionally when seeing a young warrior dozing against the city wall. Sakaro would wake him up, ”Wake up, kid, it’s time to enjoy a warm meal, to comfort your weary body and soul.”

This occurrence wasn’t rare; despite nearly a million people guarding the defense line of the entire peninsula, the numbers still seemed constrained.

Many warriors, once setting foot on the city wall, never came down again, either dying there or living there, facing nearly unending warfare.

The whole blood-dyed front line is these warriors’ home.

As he walked along, stopping occasionally, Sakaro also laid down the Dragon Horn Hammer and code, beginning to distribute food to the warriors.

After passing through the edge areas once guarded by the Slave Corps and the Unblemished Corps, they entered the most dangerous position of the entire battle line.

Here confronts the Valerian Avenue, wide enough to allow thirty-six luxurious six-horse carriages to simultaneously traverse, an artifact of the peak magic civilization of Valerian. This stands as the last remaining channel through the continent’s civilization for the demons to assault.

The royal banner of the Dragons flies here, never having fallen, because it is garrisoned by the most powerful Dragon Legion.

Although these Dragon Legion always have their own names for their battle groups: such as the proud Bloodscale Frenzy Battle Group, the most ferocious Demon Hunter Battle Group, the most ruthless Dragon Demon Fiend Battle Group, the varied Thousand Sons Battle Corps, and the Flying Dragon Battle Corps.

Yet, in the eyes of the people of this world, they are all Divine Warriors of the Giants. Even the endless demons fear these mighty warriors.

Two enormous terrifying Titan Dragons Python coil under the dragon’s royal banner, scales darker than the deep night, seemingly absorbing the rays of the sun.

The massive bodies, nearly thirty meters long, are marked with battle scars, a pair of menacing horns standing proudly on the heads of the dragon pythons.

Sakaro couldn’t help but pause, saluting the two Titan Dragon Pythons, ”Morning, Grinek and Haninek, my lords!”

These two Titan Dragon Pythons possess formidable combat strength and have special status. Though claiming to be foster sons of the Ancestral Red Dragon and often seen as pets raised by the Ancestral Red Dragon, they have earned respect through their tremendous power.

”Good morning, little Sa,” Haninek lazily opened his mouth, his eyes remaining closed, still sprawled on the ground, unwilling to waste a bit of energy.
