Beneath the Red Dragon

In the following period, Paul followed the Fremen, starting to learn how to survive in the desert, how to fight in the desert, and also learning how to become a Fremen.

His performance gradually won the recognition of the Fremen, gaining the help of the young girl Chini and Stilgar, allowing him to grow quickly.

During this time, he and the warrior girl Chini became lovers, despite Chini still not believing her lover is the Savior, it did not prevent her from falling in love with a warrior who bravely challenged herself.

Relying on his precognitive abilities and understanding of the Leo Empire and Harkonnen Clan Legion, after joining the Fremen resistance, Paul won battle after battle.

The spice mining fields of the Harkonnen Clan Legion and many mining vehicles and Guard were also destroyed and wiped out by Paul and the Fremen resistance using the looted laser firearms and ion cannon.

Paul began to become a true Fremen, even learned the way these Fremen rode and controlled the Sand Worms as mounts, although this riding method seemed more like hitchhiking, he too became a Sand Worm Knight.

Another day of battle ended, Paul habitually sat on the dune, gazing at the dim sky, the House Atreides heirloom ring on his hand already tucked away in his chest.

”Maybe I have found the path I need to take,” Paul thought, feeling that living as a Fremen Warrior would be good.

He could join these warriors in blowing up the spice mines of the Harkonnen Clan, eliminating the power of the family’s old blood enemies, without having to worry about the clear impression in his mind, the fervent religious influence of millions of Fremen to the south.

With nightfall, the tents set up in the wind-sheltered side of the dunes by the Fremen warriors were lit with cozy lights, Paul then walked down the dune and into the encampment.

Cheers rose, as the Fremen warriors applauded Paul, not only for his outstanding performance but also because he had saved his partner and lover, Chini, with his precognitive abilities.

In Paul’s eyes now, there is no distinction between northern and southern factions, for all these Fremen have accepted him, and he is becoming a leader without having seized real power.

”You have all seen what he has done,” Stilgar enthusiastically cheered, shouting at the Fremen daredevil legion warriors.

”He foresaw the enemy’s actions and predicted the future.”

Even the previously opposing and mocking Fremen female warriors were mimicking the movements of desert mice in the desert, their mouths mimicking sounds to tease Paul.

The female warrior Chini gave a gentle look to the silent Paul, asking with curiosity, ”Who taught you how to fight, your fighting style is different from ours.”

”My former masters, who are also my close friends,” Paul said softly.

Nowadays, Paul only needs to open his mouth to make all the Fremen in the tent stop and listen to his voice.

”They were all slaughtered, just like my father,” Paul raised his eyes, looking at these companions and warriors.

”You have fought against the Harkonnens for decades, while my family has battled them for centuries; I know all their habits well.”

”You have mastered the power of the desert, together we can definitely block them, destroy them, and let them perish in the desert.”

Stilgar gazed at his chosen Savior and said in a deep voice, ”What would you have us do, hmm?”

”What would you do, Stilgar,” Paul did not answer but looked at this warrior who has always supported him in a counter-question.

”Me? I would,” Stilgar pondered for a moment and said, ”I would continue the attack northward,”

”Then I shall head north,” Paul said decisively.

”The further north you go, the more likely your life might end,” the female warrior said softly.

Paul shook his head, lightly smiling and said, ”Then I shall bravely face death,”

He looked at the female warrior and said, ”Perhaps you will too,”

Paul’s gaze swept across the faces of the other warriors, he said, ”But the rest will continue forward, the Fremen will not give up unless they achieve victory!”

All the Fremen pounded their chests, uttering voices of praise.

Thus Paul earned the Fremen name—Muad’Dib, signifying that he had already become an accepted member among the Fremen.
