Beneath the Red Dragon

”Please speak, great Majesty, on behalf of the Scholars Research Department, I assure you we will make improvements,” the scholar Mobius bowed and said respectfully. This young scholar did not possess the arrogance seen in some scholars who pride themselves on their talent.

Although such people are rare before a Dragon, the vast diversity within the Empire means people have varying personalities. Some truly talented scholars respect Emperor Karon but do not flatter him.

Karon cast his gaze towards the golem moving its heavy body beside him and said softly, ”Although the Heroic Spirits drive the golems, they are also trapped by them. Only when the golem is completely destroyed will the Heroic Spirits be freed.”

”But in their daily existence, these Heroic Spirits endure the imprisonment and constraint of this insensible, ignorant body,”

The Red Dragon sighed softly at this moment, ”These brave warriors, who offered me their blood and body in life, still present their undying loyalty after death.”

”Even slave owners know to reward slaves who perform excellently, let alone me.”

”Though I am a Dragon, I cannot bear for my loyal warriors to suffer such torment. Therefore, I hope you will research a spell to release the Heroic Spirits, allowing the warriors’ souls to make their own choices freely, rather than being confined behind closed doors loyal to me.”

The Scholar Mage Mobius was slightly taken aback, and the other casters also showed surprise on their faces. They did not expect that the Emperor of the Empire, the Ancestral Red Dragon, would make such a request.

Even if these scholars and casters knew that Karon Gogomola, the Dragon Emperor of the Golden Empire, was different from ordinary Dragons, they never realized until this moment that the image of this Ancestral Red Dragon would become so unique in their minds.

Other Noble Lords think only of how to extract every last bit of value from their subordinates and citizens, sometimes neglecting even superficial niceties. Meanwhile, the Dragon with a reputation for brutality abroad is a world apart from them.

Perhaps, this is the reason behind the widespread rumors about the Dragons being adept at bewitching hearts, but these mages have already willingly succumbed to the allure of this Red Dragon’s power.

The Fog Dragon De Niro’s expression slightly changed, looking at the Imperial Guard Warriors beside him, now gently bowing towards the Red Dragon, only then realizing why this Red Dragon’s subordinates are so loyal. It’s not only because of his might but perhaps more due to this Red Dragon’s charisma.

Mobius’ face showed a respectful expression as he deeply bowed towards Karon, saying, ”Your Majesty, your virtue is the reason the Empire shines so brightly. The research department will not let down your trust.”

”Your Majesty, Ayuda wishes to remain in this stone,” the golem that was moving its body rushed over as it heard the Red Dragon’s words, lowering its head towards the Red Dragon.

”Your Majesty, serving you is my honor,” the golem’s flickering eyes looked towards its Emperor, but its words were in somewhat unskilled common language.

”My Lord, you once promised to allow us the peace of our souls. Ayuda has enjoyed enough within the Giant Dragon Hall,”

”Ayuda daily drinks and revels in the Hall, enjoying offerings. I feel I am stronger now. The current Ayuda longs to return under your Majesty’s glory, to spread your radiance far and wide, even if this cold stone body cannot stop Ayuda’s fiery soul.”

Karon knew this soul, Ayuda was one of the first Jackal Wolfman Warriors to die fighting for Karon, and he also perished in Greenfield Forest as that Jackal Wolfman Commander.

This guy couldn’t stay idle, even in the Giant Dragon Hall, always wandering around looking to spar with other Heroic Spirits.

After the Giant Dragon Hall’s space was opened, each Heroic Spirit had their own private spatial area, but now most Heroic Spirits’ rooms have a sign— ”Ayuda and Dog, Do Not Enter.”

Karon smiled at the golem Ayuda and said, ”Even enjoyment, repeating monotonous patterns, can quickly become boring, not to mention this near-sensory deprivation torment.”

”Ayuda, there will be opportunities to come out and be active, that is the freedom I grant you!”

The golem Ayuda lowered its head, indicating it would heed the Dragon’s words.

Then the golem turned and threatened the casters, ”My name is Ayuda, remember that, and next time you summon, include my name in the spell for precise summoning, or don’t blame me if I get angry.”

The golem grumbled and said, ”If I hadn’t acted fast this time, someone else would have seized the opportunity. That vile guy, I’ve been in the Hall for so long, yet I still can’t beat that mare, Kali, such a fierce Centaur.”

These souls appear obedient before Karon, but each is a strong-willed warrior with its own personality.

These casters were not afraid of Ayuda, but it was also a trivial matter to them, so they quickly acquiesced and agreed.

Only then did the golem Ayuda turn around, kneeling on one knee before Karon, speaking in a deep voice, ”My King, my Lord, your loyal warrior awaits your summon.”

Karon nodded, ”Go ahead, loyal soul, this is the return to freedom I grant you.”

He extended his Dragon Claw, gently resting on the head of the golem Ayuda.
