Beneath the Red Dragon

The once brutal battlefield, now turned into a land of desolate sand, is now occupied by ghastly creatures formed from the countless bones of elves and the Desolate God’s claws who died in battle years ago.

”However, I’ve discovered a strange creature,” said the young Elf Druid with a hesitant expression, revealing her findings.

”The creature seems to be associated with those weaker monsters. Its body is covered with red scales, and it has Dragon Horns on its head. Not only is it powerful, but it can also use Magic, much like the Dragon Descendants from the stories you told us when we were young.”

At this point, the young elf Aiya unconsciously touched her backside, where her healed wound still seemed to throb with pain, as if some force was still present and hadn’t been removed.

”A Dragon Descendant? Aiya, are you sure it’s a Dragon Descendant?” The face of the older Elf Elder, usually calm and unruffled, now twisted as she suddenly stood up, asking with a hint of disbelief.

The young elf nodded, swallowing as she spoke. ”If the stories you told us before were correct, then what I encountered should indeed be a Dragon Descendant.”

”This is trouble; the appearance of a Dragon Descendant inevitably means there’s a Giant Dragon behind it,” the elder Elf Grand Elder was no longer composed, her dim eyes flickering as she paced back and forth in the spacious treehouse.

In the Elf Elder’s memory, thousands of years ago, when she was still a child, this realm also had Giant Dragons. Those creatures with green scales and crowns like jewels on their heads dominated the entire realm, viewing all living beings as slaves.

Back then, elves barely survived under the shadow of these fearsome creatures. They had to regularly offer pure elf maidens and Water of Life to the Giant Dragons, and the legendary Elf Holy Spear was once a collectible and ornamental item in the Dragon Nest.

Many talented elf children were reduced to ashes by Dragon Blood, all because the Giant Dragons wanted to create their own Legion of Dragon Descendants to rule the realm eternally.

But for some unknown reason, thousands of years ago, the leader of those Giant Dragons suddenly vanished from this world, and the remaining dragons fell apart, leaving this realm to travel to other worlds.

Thus, the Elf Grand Elder, who once lived a life of slavery, was extremely shocked by the news. While the Desolate God’s claws aimed to annihilate all creatures in this realm and transform the world into the Desolate God’s Nest, the Giant Dragons were hardly better.

The Elf Grand Elder still remembers how many once-thriving tribes gradually declined as they offered their kin to the Giant Dragons, and many smaller tribes were exterminated because of it.

In the Elf Grand Elder’s heart, although the threat of the Giant Dragons was not as dire as the Desolate God’s claws, it was not far off. It could be considered a catastrophe on par with a dragon disaster for the entire realm.

”No, this must be reported to the other tribes. Aiya, go and summon Buka and the others. Later, you’ll need to deliver my message to the major tribes, inviting them here to discuss how to confront the Dragon Descendant and the Giant Dragon behind it.”

The Elf Grand Elder decided resolutely, turning to take a few broad leaves from the wooden rack in the treehouse, imprinting her message onto them. This matter is beyond what their tribe can handle alone and may determine the fate of the entire realm in the future.

”Yes, Grand Elder.” The young elf bowed and left the spacious wooden house, then leaped from the top of the giant tree, transforming mid-air into an owl. She flew down hundreds of meters to the base of the giant tree, reverting to her original elf form.

...

That night, Karon dragged the Unicorne Snake Lizard magical beast back to the camp, but he only extracted its horn and heart. The horn, as the source of the beast’s Magic Ability, was considered a small treasure.

As for the heart, Karon consumed it as a nourishing little delicacy.

He divided the remaining flesh among his Beloved, but he extracted the bloodline essence of the Unicorne Snake Lizard, storing it in his stomach within the Magic Space Bag he kept for future research.

He planned to collect the bloodlines of every Extraordinary Creature he encountered, the more samples, the better, for future comparative research.

The Magic Space Bag was crafted by the Mage Xiuse’s group using the stomach of the Titan Demon Python he hunted last time.

Although the space was not large, about a hundred cubic meters, equivalent to a room measuring seven meters by five meters by two meters high, it was sufficient for storing ordinary items.

To describe it more vividly, it was like a one-bedroom unit, but ample enough to store some ordinary items.

Although the hybrid Titan Demon Python’s stomach wasn’t as powerful as the pureblood Titan Demon Python, the space bag made from it was somewhat small, leading Karon to suspect that the mages secretly pocketed some materials as a sort of handling fee.

Moreover, while a Giant Dragon’s storage stomach also had certain spatial attributes, it could accommodate other Magic Equipment with spatial properties—a unique feature of a Giant Dragon’s body. Incorporating this Magic Space Bag, Karon also gained a similar trait in this Magic Equipment.

That is, his storage stomach capacity increased slightly. However, to the Red Dragon, this trait was rather superfluous, offering little advantage.

After resting in the camp for a night, the confusing engravings in Karon’s mind had quieted down considerably. Perhaps he was beginning to get used to the presence of these engravings, as the chaotic and vivid lines no longer impeded the Red Dragon’s focus significantly.
