Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 181: Chapter 73: Greenfield Forest (Part 3)

And the Giant Dragon, if it’s really as the Mage described, then the descent of a Giant Dragon is no different from the arrival of a war machine.

The scale armor on Karon’s body now has such excellent defense that even his own claws need to exert great force to cause damage, and this is because the Giant Dragon’s attacks naturally carry the same magical attributes as their original bloodlines.

Moreover, the surface protection of the Red Dragon is not just the layer of scales that looks like a work of art, but also includes an Elemental Protection Layer and a Magic Shield, which are attributes a Giant Dragon that delves into magic should possess.

The Red Dragon’s Dragon Breath and Magic are naturally a bane to this kind of forest environment.

Of course, what truly tempts the Red Dragon is the virtually endless indigenous population of that plane. The Dragon Group Territory currently lacks population—an adequate population is the foundation for the territory’s development. Without enough people, any conception is mere empty talk.

But what the Mage said next immediately captured Karon’s interest.

”The main thing is, that plane is a paradise of forests and plants, so many Trees of Life have arisen. Every five to six hundred miles, there is about one Tree of Life growing, and those Trees of Life, Karon, we can give them all to you. We only need one as research material!”

The words spoken by the Mage were as tempting as a demon’s offer, and Karon immediately felt his heartbeat quicken a bit.

Trees of Life, sacred objects unique to the Elf race; without even discussing other benefits, simply planting all these Trees of Life would transform the entirety of the Dragon Group Territory, influenced by the Trees of Life, into a flourishing land.

Not only would crops grow abundantly and yield greater harvests, but even the newborns in the territory would become smarter, stronger, and more robust, and the survival rate of infants would increase—this is simply the best support for developing the territory.

Those Elves’ use of the Trees of Life is sheer wastage, constantly fussing over those leaves, branches, and the Water of Life. In Karon’s eyes, those Elf Tribes are just another form of living off their ancestors, but they are living off the Trees of Life.

Thud, thud, thud,

The red claws of Karon struck against the hard stone table. If the situation on that plane is the same as what the Squinting Mage said, then he could indeed find an opportunity to visit.

All primitive capital accumulation is amassed by plundering others, and merely relying on the slow development of the Dragon Group Territory would take a long time. Although Karon is a Giant Dragon—a long-lived kind that mortals can only look up to—he also would not refuse a shortcut towards development.

Moreover, if he could successfully establish a foothold in the Greenfield Forest, by that time, the entire plane’s resources could be used to support the Dragon Group Territory.

Karon hadn’t made a decision yet, and that’s fine. Once he makes a decision, his ambition will not be just that—he won’t be satisfied with only the knowledge and legacy left behind by the Magic Empire, nor just those native Elves and Trees of Life.

He wants to swallow the entire plane, to make the whole Greenfield Forest Plane his backyard and resource reserve base.

”I have to say, Squinting Mage, you’ve convinced me, you’ve successfully moved my peace-loving heart,” Karon said with a grin, completely oblivious to the meaning of the word ”shameless.”

”That’s great, with your cooperation, our exploration is sure to be very smooth!” Mage Hughes was overjoyed, not caring at all about the three words ’Squinting Mage’ in Karon’s language.

”However, I have two requests,” Karon raised two fingers, smiling, ”the first request is that the location of the Plane Teleportation Gate is selected by me, and the departure time is my choice as well.”

”That’s not a problem,” Mage Hughes quickly agreed to this condition. The Mage came for true cooperation and didn’t mind these details.

”The second request is that after entering the Greenfield Forest Plane, every exploration activity and action you all make must be approved by me. I don’t want to be dragged down by teammates as stupid as pigs!”

”That’s not a problem either,” Mage Hughes agreed without hesitation. These cooperation conditions were not strict, which made the Mage secretly relieved, as he had braced himself for being ripped off.

”Hmm, that’s good, but recently I’m planning to set up a laboratory for magic experiments. I’m inexperienced, and before the lab is built, I’m not very confident about leaving the territory,” Karon sighed softly.

”Here it comes, indeed, one cannot overestimate the moral standards of making deals with Giant Dragons,” the Squinting Mage Hughes’ eyebrows jumped, knowing that a mage’s laboratory is not cheap. If it were to be built with complete configuration, even wealthy mages would be shocked at the speed those shiny Gold Coins disappear.

”This, of course, we will help you, Karon,” Mage Hughes gritted his teeth and still agreed to the Red Dragon’s ’polite request.’

”Very good, well then, a pleasure working with you!” Karon smiled, clapping his hands, and stood up, ready to leave.

”Wait, Karon, Master of the Dragon Clans,” the Countess Batorri, who had been listening quietly, stood up and called out to stop Karon’s departure. She held her head high and stepped briskly, coming directly in front of Karon.

With a towering height of almost one meter eighty, considered quite tall among humans, and exceptionally so among women, the Countess still had to look up in the presence of the three-and-a-half-meter tall Karon.

”Oh, you have something to discuss with me, beautiful lady,” Karon halted his steps, looking at the well-built figure of the woman before him, his eyes openly admiring the unique beauty of her form.
