Chapter 2045: Chicken~!

The Auction Hall was in commotion for sure. Not a few complained about the delay, despite the compensation. The two hosts were also confused about what happened and retreated from the stage before they became objects of the attendees’ anger.

They waited backstage, wondering what caused the delay. After ten minutes of waiting, a manager who was in charge of the shop came to them. The man was sweating profusely, and his breath was slightly erratic.

”You can restart the auction in five minutes!” The shop manager was about to leave, but the old man pulled his hand. ”What happened?”

”Your greedy fool manager tried to scam Lady Elonia’s guest, who is also an Executive Administrator. I heard from the Director that it almost ruined the potential deal with the Executive Administrator. Just do your job properly and don’t try to pull something stupid, or you will not lose your job, but your life as well,” The Shop Manager ran back.

The old man sucked a cold breath when he found out what caused the delay. He understood why Lady Elonia paused the auction. That was indeed something that needed to be taken care of.

”That fool doesn’t know the special guest is the Executive Administrator?”

The red-haired woman, Aline, could not believe what the Auction Manager tried to pull. Even if he did not know who the special guest was, it was stupid to try to deceive the VIP guests. Five minutes quickly passed, and the two hosts returned to the stage.

”We apologize for the delay, ladies and gentlemen. There’s an issue with the latest bid, and we need to take care of it to avoid future inconvenience for you. We are truly sorry for the delay, so let’s continue the auction, shall we?”

There was no more trouble after the Auction Manager’s incident. The third Beast Spirit was a massive hunch back gorilla. It was ten meters tall, with massive two arms, and abs muscles. It had two skeletal horns that curved upward from above its two eyes. Its crimson eyes were intimidating.

The stage shook because it tried to break free from the cage, but the host assured that it could not break the cage. Its species was called Kinguer, and it was certainly a battle-type Beast Spirit.

The starting bid was 100 million, and the minimum raise was 5 million. This was where things got heated, and the price reached 785 million, sold to the second VIP box.

The fourth item was an interesting Beast Spirit, it was a chicken called Golden Chickret. As its name implies, its feathers were golden. The hen was full gold, while the rooster was mixed of obsidian black and gold feathers.

There were four of them, one rooster and three hens, and the auction as a whole, and the starting price was 50 million for a family of Golden Chickret.

”It’s chicken! It’s golden chicken!” Li Yue’s excited voice reverberated in the room.

”What’s chicken? Why are you so excited, Sister Yue?” This was Tang Xiulan’s first encounter with chicken. She could not understand why her sisters, not just Sister Yue but Sister Ying Ying, looked excited as well.

”Because chicken is yummy. Especially fried chicken? Have you tried fried chicken, Xiulan?” Li Yue replied, almost drooling at the thought of eating the fried chicken.

Tang Xiulan furrowed her brow, not liking what she heard from her sister, ”But... But... But we aren’t supposed to eat them, right, Daddy?”

Tang Shaoyang was certainly caught off guard with the question. He might have more knowledge about the Beast Spirit, and he certainly didn’t know whether the Beast Spirit was edible or not. But one thing was for sure, Elnar and Azhug would not allow him to eat the Beast Spirit even if it was edible.

”Of course, you shouldn’t eat the Beast Spirit, but this Golden Chickret can lay eggs, and you can eat them. It’s nutritious and delicious,” said the one who answered, who was Elonia. She tried her best to be as helpful as she could after the incident.

”But... But the baby? What about the baby?” Tang Xiulan strongly disagreed with eating her pets. She turned toward Elnar for help so no one would eat the baby chicken.

”You don’t have to worry, baby, because eighty percent of the Golden Chickret’s eggs are duds. They can’t hatch, so the baby can not form inside the egg. They will separate the dud eggs on their own, and we can take them to eat. That’s what the Golden Chickret is known for,” Elnar assured the young lady, but that was not enough to convince the little girl.

”I want this one! This will be my chosen one!” Elinova suddenly interrupted. She turned toward Li Shuang, asking to make a bid for the Golden Chickret. After the 200 million incident, Li Shuang took charge to make the bid.

Li Shuang did not consult Azhug about the market price this time. When the bid reached 100 million, she joined the bid. Unlike Tang Shaoyang, she was patient and methodical. Not raising the bid right away, waiting for a while before submitting the bid.

It was a five-way bidding war. The first VIP, the third VIP, the ninth VIP, and the tenth VIP. They had deep pockets as the price quickly rose to 150 million. The people from the first VIP seemed to lose their patience as they raised the bid by 30 million, making a 200 million bid.

The host started the countdown twice, and when people thought the first VIP got the Golden Chickret, Li Shuang submitted a 201 million bid. At the same time, she turned toward Elin, ”I will fight it to 300 million. If it’s past over 300 mill—”

Before Li Shuang finished her words, Tang Shaoyang cut her off, ”400 million. We must get the eggs! 400 million is the limit.”

Elin was excited about the new ingredient, but Tang Shaoyang was excited to try a new delicacy. He could not wait to see what Elin could make with the Golden Chickret’s egg. Egg was a versatile ingredient, and Elin could make even a dessert with that special egg.

Li Shuang turned toward her husband, wanting to persuade him that they had a limited budget, and the Golden Chickret was just the fourth item in the auction. But then she remembered how much her husband loved his food, how happy he was during the meal. She felt like the mealtime was the only time he could relax and forget most of the problems and threats to his life.

”Alright, we can try 400 million.” She had no choice but to agree.

The ninth VIP joined the bid again with 202 million, and the bidding war continued. The first VIP was clearly pissed off by Li Shuang, the ninth VIP. The first VIP kept raising the bid by ten million. Meanwhile, Li Shuang and the ninth VIP only raised it by one million.

The first VIP was the first one to give up when the number reached 250 million. The ninth VIP gave up after bidding 272 million, and Li Shuang got the Golden Chickret with 273 million.

”Our fifth Beast Spirit is The Ancient Crimson Smoulder...”

The fifth Beast Spirit was brought to the stage, and it followed the sequence: a battle-type Beast Spirit after the non-battle-type Beast Spirit. It was five fiery-furred monkeys the size of Cecilia. Their tails were similar to a scorpion’s tail with a sting, and it was certainly poisonous. The poison was called the Burning Poison. The poison would burn from inside, especially if you have lower Vitality.

The poison was not fatal for the God Rank until it reached the God Rank. Those five monkeys in the cage were certainly God Rank. They were at Myth Rank. It would be a long journey to raise them to the God Rank, but they had potential. Their poison might not be able to kill a God Rank instant, but it could cause permanent internal damage.

”I don’t know if you are interested in them, Boss. But I will not allow them in our garden. We don’t have enough space for them because these monkeys are quite vicious with their prank. Their nature is playful, but it might accidentally hurt the other Beast Spirits.”

Azhug could not stay still on this matter. Elnar, Liora, Meadow, and Lavender supported their boss. They had a bad experience taking care of the Ancient Crimson Smoulder.

Tang Shaoyang had no interests anyway, and his wives were also not fans of monkeys. Only his daughters were quite excited, seeing the new creatures.

The sixth item came out, and the Cladeos Emporium brought an interesting creature. It was a white penguin with black stripes on its back, and their flippers were also black. Her daughters were interested, discussing how cute they looked, but none of them wanted to make their choice on the penguin.

Tang Shaoyang and his wives showed little interest in the following items. His wives didn’t really like the battle-type Beast Spirit, except for Delia, who looked for a companion that fit her fighting style. She already had Gluttony, and she was looking for a flying Beast Spirit that was also good in battle. That was her purpose for joining the shopping trip.

It wasn’t until the eleventh item, a beautiful Beast Spirit, that he got his three wives to immediately claim it.
