Chapter 2008: They Are Coming

As he expected, a lot of bodies were strewn all over. His spirits were quite brutal in their conquest, as some bodies were missing a big chunk. The summoning routine continued, but he remained cautious. The same group might come back again for him even after losing their first group.

In fact, losing the first group might encourage them to come back. Not just to take the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s inheritance, but also for revenge. They would come back with a bigger and stronger force. That was why he was on high alert.

Another weird thing was that his skeleton could not find the cultivators from the Black Lotus Sect. Even after sending a large group to search for them, they were still unable to find them. Since it was his request, Kaiser led the group to search for the cultivators.

Kaiser returned to the city and then looked all over the place, all possible hiding spots. Nothing could be found; they disappeared with no trace at all.

Tang Shaoyang told Kaiser to stop the search, and he hoped the captives from this unknown group might have information he wanted. There was no reason for Arion to keep the information away from him.

”This too—”

Tang Shaoyang did not finish his words as he almost jinxed himself. He started to believe in jinx after what happened before. He decided not to say it, no matter how itchy he was.

”The fight became easier and easier. I bet this one is not even Archaic Spirit,” Avyn returned with a complaint after beating the calamity spirit. The fight had become so easy that Avyn and Zara took turns to fight the spirits instead of doing two against one.

Tang Shaoyang rolled his eyes, ”The System said it’s an Archaic Spirit. Maybe it’s a low-rank Archaic Spirit.”

”Then this one is the weakest low-rank Archaic Spirit I have ever faced. You’d better start to pile more bodies before sacrificing them.”

It had been three days since the attack on the main base, and they had summoned less than ten spirits, or to be more exact, eight Archaic Spirits, and all of them were calamity spirits. The reason for the few summonings was that he used more bodies to upgrade the low-rank Archaic Spirit to a high-rank Archaic Spirit.

This was the reason why he guessed that the people from the Sacred Realm might be the culprits who killed the Executive Administrator to take the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s inheritance for themselves.

The number of strong calamities was dwindling, and they did not pose a threat to his spirits, as the spirits easily swept the calamities. He did not believe an Executive Administrator would go against this kind of calamity.

The reason these people were allowed to take the trial for the Thousand Vows Pavilion instead of preventing him was that these people realized that the Grandmaster’s souls were in the Thousand Halls. Those souls stopped them from taking the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That was why they let him take the trial and would take the inheritance from him later on.

That was why they did not stop getting into the city. One thing is for sure: they had been watching him. He had been careless not to notice these people.

”They will come for me once more,” Tang Shaoyang drew a conclusion.

The moment he left this place, this unknown group would not be able to catch him again. Unless they found their way to Earth or his territory in the God Realm. But they would be facing the consequences for targeting an Executive Administrator openly. This might be their best chance to get him.

”Let’s stay far from the main base. I want to fight them too. The vampire woman mentioned that there are stronger cultivators. Let me try them,” Avyn did not deny Tang Shaoyang’s guess; in fact, she wanted to put Tang Shaoyang as bait so she could fight this unknown group of cultivators.

Tang Shaoyang came to the conclusion that this group was not part of the Murim Alliance. If they were part of the Murim Alliance, they would work together with the Black Lotus Sect. That was why he always separated the group from the Murim Alliance.

”I mean, I have been putting myself in the open. I am also waiting for them because the first batch is honestly quite disappointing. It’s still in my mind that the martial arts are not as strong as I thought they would be.”

”You are being pessimistic again. You haven’t met the cultivators above the Immortal Emperor Realm yet. Keep your judgement in your heads until you meet the peak... What is it again?” Zara did not remember the highest rank for a cultivator.

They were still new to cultivator knowledge, and there were more ranks as well.

”It’s God Realm and True God Realm.”

Another four days passed, and Tang Shaoyang had to gather double the amount of sacrifices from the previous sacrifices if he wanted to summon an Archaic Spirit. Sometimes he would get an intermediate-rank Archaic Spirit, but most of the time he would get a low-rank Archaic Spirit.

That was a sign of the drop-off in quality from the sacrifices, meaning they entered the low-rank calamities. That was also a sign that they would complete the special mission soon.

His suspicion of the unknown was getting stronger and stronger because there was no calamity that posed a threat to them. Even to the teams that joined the special mission. The calamities were not as dangerous as the report mentioned.

At this point, Tang Shaoyang also caught up with his spirits. He had been tailing them closely while bringing the dead bodies with his Earth Elemental Manipulation. Several mountains of dead calamities formed behind him, and he did not use them for sacrifice immediately because he knew these sacrifices were not enough to get him an Archaic Spirit.

The drop-down of spirit summoning was quiet, but it was still better than nothing. In the end, his goal was to create an army of spirits that would help him in the battle later on.

He had been checking on his skeleton army as well as Vandir, who went on his own adventure. The Death King was surprisingly enjoying himself with all the new types of calamities. The Lich was doing the experiment in the open while his undead army did the dirty work for him.

The Reds Team was also doing well. Mainly because the highest rank calamity they ever fought was Rank 7 Calamity. It was a high rank calamity, but it posed no threat to them because Khaya was stronger than the Rank 7 Calamity.

”Everything went well...” Tang Shaoyang muttered, but then a frown formed on his forehead as he sensed something. He turned around and continued, ”And my prediction came true as well. They are coming for us.”

Tang Shaoyang watched twenty portals form a hundred meters away from him. Instead of destroying the portal, he let it form. He had the chance to destroy the portal, but he did not do so. Zara could also make the portal disappear, yet she did nothing.

The Goddess of Death was waiting for them to come to them. The excitement in her face was obvious, and the same for Avyn. They had been complaining that fighting the low-rank Archaic Spirit had been boring for them.

People poured out from the portal. Most of them were standing on the flying sword, while the remainder were floating in the air with no external tools. They all wore black, having their face covered in masks as well. Most of them were covered by black clothes, but fifty of them were wearing white animal masks.

Using the Chaos Eyes through his bird-view, Tang Shaoyang did a quick calculation on how many of them there were. It was more than three hundred for sure, but less than four hundred. He expected an army, but this was too small for an army. Maybe they were the elite of this unknown group.

Tang Shaoyang did a massive Detection, and the result came back disappointing. Most of the black-clothed people were at the Emperor Realm, one realm lower than the one he caught. There were around seventy or more at the Immortal Emperor Realm.

However, the surprise came from the people with the white-colored animal mask. Forty of them were in the God Realm. Not all of them were at the peak of the God Realm, but twelve of them were. The remaining twenty-eight were at the 6th to 8th Stage God Realm.

That alone, this group easily overwhelmed the first batch in rank. The remaining ten with white-colored animal masks were at the True God Realm. Three of them were at the 2nd Stage True God Realm, two of them at the 3rd Stage True God Realm, another two at the 4th Stage True God Realm, one at the 5th Stage True God Realm, another one at the 6th Stage True God Realm, and the last one was at the 8th Stage True God Realm.

The one with a cat mask was at the 8th Stage True God Realm. A white-haired woman, wearing a white robe, and a sword in a white sheath in her right hand. Her golden-colored eyes were beautiful; they looked like a golden-colored gem, glassy and bright, yet her gaze was sharp and filled with killing intent.

”We don’t really want to create a conflict with the Administrator and would rather do this quietly.”

A man with a lion mask came forward and started to speak, ”However, you have what belongs to us. If you hand over our item, then we will give you a quick death instead of a painful death for killing our people!”

That was met with Avyn and Zara giggling. They could not believe what the man said, and again, Tang Shaoyang found the threat funny. He did not get mad when this man threatened; he was also chuckling.

Instead of responding to the man, Tang Shaoyang recalled Vandir and summoned him again. The Death King was about to protest until he found that they were surrounded. Instead of getting mad at his master, his fire flickered fiercely in his socket.

The materials he was looking for were right in front of him. His fire flickered crazily, scanning the cultivators. He was trying to find the perfect material for his experiment, and his instinct kicked in as he pointed at the woman with the cat mask.

”I want her! I want to create something with her. Give her to me, Master!”
