Chapter 2027: People Party

Tang Shaoyang was upset, but that was it; he did not immediately deport the man. However, he decided to go deeper into the issue as Kang Zian brought another one from the People Party. That was right, they called themselves the People Party because they represent the people. Tang Shaoyang was upset, but he was willing to listen to their ideas.

The Essence of Tranquility Breathing truly helped him to think about the issue in a calm and collected manner. He did not immediately deport these people. He listened to their idea about this new System from outside the interrogation room.

The second man, named John, confidently told the interrogator their motto. From people and for people, meaning the leader of the country was chosen by them. Then they also want a new government body that would represent the people in the government.

Kang Zian told Tang Shaoyang it was actually a democratic country before the game. That was what this group tried to achieve. They wanted to bring back the old System, meaning there would be no more empire, a new whole country.

In a roundabout way, this group tried to get rid of Tang Shaoyang and his influence in the Tang Empire. They even challenged the current government that they didn’t need to worry because Tang Shaoyang would be chosen if the people wanted him to lead the country.

Tang Shaoyang to John’s ramble, and he told Kang Zian to ask John the reason behind this movement. Maybe these people suffered from mismanagement and corruption. Maybe they were dissatisfied about something. He was willing to listen to bring this up with Li Shuang.

He also did not want his empire filled with people who misused their position. Maybe that was why they started this movement. Because there must be a cause for them to start a movement like this.

”We are worried that your Emperor will misuse his authority and force women to be his wife. I heard some rumor about the Emperor being a wife stealer, aren’t y...” John did not finish his words because the steel table that separated him from the interrogation broke apart.

John’s eyes went wide, his mouth gaped open. Then the interrogator blurred and appeared before John. He reached John’s neck and lifted the man into the air. The differences between the two were obvious. The interrogator was a Legend Rank, and John was an Epic Rank. The latter was kicking the empty air when he tried to use a skill, a tip of the sword stopped right before his eyes. John froze, not even trying to struggle anymore.

”Use your skill, so I can use that as a justification to make a hole in your head. Do it!”

Blood drained from John’s cheek, his eyes shook, his breathing was ragged, and his whole body went limp. Then a pungent smell spread out in the room, and the sound of dropping liquid resounded. He peed his pants, and his body completely stopped moving.

The outburst from the interrogator was truly unexpected. Maybe they were fed up with this group, or maybe it was because of his loyalty toward Tang Shaoyang. Kang Zian was proud of his people even though the interrogator lost his composure for a moment.

”That’s enough, Xiaobo. Bring him back to his cell and bring another one from this group to the second interrogation room,” Kang Zian entered the room, granting mercy to the poor John.

”Do we need to keep interrogating them, Sir?” The officer named Xiaobo revealed his frustration, ”I might kill them accidentally if you keep asking me to interrogate them, Sir.”

Kang Zian let out a chuckle, ”That’s not my order, but His Majesty’s order.”

Xiaobo looked past his superior and finally saw the Emperor himself in the flesh. His first reaction was to fall on his knee, ”I... Xia... This off...” He stuttered and did not know what to say.

”His Majesty is here for an unofficial visit, don’t make a fuss about it. Go fetch another prisoner and bring Lingxin,” Kang Zian sent a light kick to Xiaobo’s butt.

The officer stood up straight, ”I will bring another one and interrogate them myself, Sir.”

”No, I am really worried that you might kill them if this continues. Bring Lingxin and another one for another session.”

The officer nodded and picked the frozen John, like he was carrying a cat. Then Kang Zian brought Tang Shaoyang to the second room. With a new brand interrogator, it went differently. The female officer called Lingxin did her job well, digging into the movement’s motives.

It did not stop after John because TEIS detained more than fifty people who were part of the People Party. Lingxin did her job exceptionally without using force, using the empty threat and the false rumor about how the Tang Empire dealt with the prisoners that turned out to be slaves.

Of course, some of the people were tough to crack. Tang Shaoyang stayed for another ten sessions before calling it a stop. He got the gist of what happened, the motive of the People Party. This foreign group wanted to use this to be part of the government. They were aware that it would be hard for foreigners like them to enter the government, so they thought this trick might quicken the process.

They were trying to take advantage of the fact that the Tang Empire did not use rank as a requirement to hold a position. Persuading the people to support their cause, they thought they could enter the government. Using the people against the empire.

Tang Shaoyang could overlook it if they had an actual complaint or issue with his official. He could overlook the situation if something happened, something like discrimination or anything, or maybe they suffered injustice from his official.

There was no issue to begin with. These people just wanted the privilege of being an official. It was their greed that led them to this movement. Some of them were aware that this movement would not work, but their goal was to create an independent parliament that was also part of the Tang Empire.

This parliament’s function was to listen to the people’s complaints and aspirations, and they would convey the people’s voice to the empire, a middleman for the empire and its people. That way, they would gain the privileges of the Tang Empire’s officials.

That angered Tang Shaoyang; he did not show it on his face, but his silence told Kang Zian that The Emperor was angry. He sometimes chatted, telling his brother-in-law an update about the empire’s situation. He stopped that little chatting in their seventh person.

”That’s enough.”

Tang Shaoyang entered the interrogation room. Lingxin and Xiaobo were currently interviewing a man named Connor Goff. Connor Goff was one of the founders of the Party People, and he was currently trying to negotiate with Lingxin about his idea, the Independent Parliament.

The three turned toward the door. Xiaobo and Lingxin stood up, lowering their heads for a bow. Meanwhile, Connor Goff was shocked to see the Emperor with his own eyes. He blinked his eyes a few times, ensuring he was not seeing things. But when he noticed how the TEIS’s people acted when the man entered the room, he did not see anything. The one in front of him was the Emperor, who rarely made an appearance in public.

The gears in Connor’s head were moving. He was thinking how he should utilize this chance for his gain. He had gathered a lot of information about the Emperor, including a background check. He wanted to know what kind of person Tang Shaoyang was before this madness called the Game started.

Connor was convinced that his movement might work after finding out that the Emperor was just a street thug before the Game. He was confident that as long as he had a chance to meet the Emperor once, he would be able to convince the Emperor to create The People Parliament. Before he could think of anything, he heard the Emperor’s deep voice echo in the room.

”Scan him, Origin! I want his name and possibly find all his associates that are related to the People Party.”

The moment he heard it, Connor felt something was wrong. He had heard of Origin but forgot what Origin was. The male officer was called Xiaobo, and the female officer was Lingxin. There was no one named Origin in this room.

”His name is Connor Goff. He was Epic Rank when he moved here, and he is now Myth Rank; his level is unknown. He brought his wife and two daughters when he moved here as well. His wife worked in the Tang Academy’s preschool to teach the foreign children. His eldest daughter is fifteen, and his second daughter is thirteen.”

”His eldest daughter, Abby Goff, passed the exam to join the Tang Academy. Her goal is to graduate and join TEAA as an Alchemist. His second daughter, Bella Goff, is currently studying in the Elementary Education program at the Tang Academy. Do you want me to ask the TEID to capture them, Your Majesty?”
