Chapter 2032: Finishing the Unfinished Business (3)

After making a secure arrangement for his wives and daughter, Tang Shaoyang tried to finish the task on his list. He gathered the people his Vassal sent to learn Cultivation. To his surprise, more than ten people were actually coming. All ten invited people were here, and there were four people with them.

Yu the Ancient Alchemist was here. After finding out that one of his subordinates, Kate, got the chance to cultivate. He did not hesitate to come to Tang Shaoyang last night after the ruckus. Then he found out that Tang Shaoyang had a legendary codex from the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

That was right, Yu seemed to know the Thousand Vows Pavilion. It showed how big the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s influence was. The former spirit begged Tang Shaoyang to impart some techniques related to alchemy and some ancient recipes from the pavilion. He wanted a better technique as well because he was stuck in his cultivation.

However, Yu hesitated upon learning the responsibility that came after learning the technique from the codex. Not that he did not want to join to rebuild the Thousand Vows Pavilion. He didn’t want to split his focus on his research in TEAA.

The Chief Alchemist asked Tang Shaoyang for one night to think about it. Since Yu was in the training, he agreed to rebuild the Thousand Vows Pavilion, bearing part of the responsibility to rebuild the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The second uninvited guest was Lu An. The TEID Chief didn’t know what cultivation was, but he joined upon hearing Tang Shaoyang encourage his wives to learn the cultivation as well.

The third and fourth uninvited guests were unexpected, something he did not expect to see here. It was Chang Jie, his former disciple, and his lover, Duan Ya.

Tang Shaoyang did not know how Chang Jie learned about this, but he did not mind him joining. As for Duan Ya, he could tell why she was here. She followed Chang Jie to join the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The process of imparting the technique took a long time. Ouyang Biya had screened the good foundation technique. There were around thirty of them, some of the techniques focused on a focused path, and some of the was for general foundation, making it more flexible, giving them more time to think about their future path before entering the actual journey of cultivation.

Kate was the first one to choose the technique under Yu’s guidance. In fact, Yu seemed to consider taking Kate as his apprentice. They had their own discussion, and the Chief Alchemist guided Kate to start meditating. After she got the gist of it, Yu came to Tang Shaoyang to ask for the promised reward for agreeing to join. More advanced techniques and some ancient concoction recipes.

It took three hours for all of them to choose their own path. Most of them picked the flexible foundation because they did not really know about cultivation yet. However, Chang Jie had chosen his own path, the path for his big sword. Duan Ya picked something to strengthen her own archery.

Tang Shaoyang stayed there a little longer, watching them meditate. When they could do it on their own, he left the training ground. He had set up the foundation for the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That would leave him at ease, and he just needed to check on their progress. The one with advanced progress would be chosen to be Grandmaster Potential.

He had more things to do in the Dimensional Tower, finishing another of his unfinished business. In two days, he would leave to choose their new Beast Spirits for the Tang Garden. Li Na was interested and wanted to join. Li Shuang, Kang Xue, Delia, Aleesa, Ava, and Sylvia would join them as well. Of course, his daughters would join because they would be the main characters for that day. He was determined to be productive in his break month.

-Kate-

She felt the change, the good-type change within her body. It was like there was something moving. She was uncomfortable at first, but got used to it soon. Especially with Chief Yu’s guidance. The Emperor talked to Chief Yu, telling the Chief to take her as his apprentice to guide her.

Chief Yu was the only one who knew about the cultivation and also the specific path for Alchemy. She thought Chief Yu would reject the notion since she knew Chief Yu did not like to split his research time into anything else. To her surprise, Chief Yu agreed to take her as an apprentice.

Kate was nervous and happy at the same time. She was nervous because of the rumor about the Emperor, afraid that the Emperor had taken a fancy to her. Her husband could not do anything if the Emperor wanted her. The thoughts disrupted her cycle, and she was hit on the back of her head with a stick.

”Focus. You are overthinking it. His Majesty asked me to take you as an apprentice, not because he fancies you. It’s because your husband made a personal request to His Majesty. Your husband is one of His Majesty’s comrades before founding the empire. That’s the reason, not because he fancies you, and I don’t think you meet his standard, considering His Majesty’s last lady. Now focus!”

Kate’s face turned red from embarrassment, and she muttered, ”You don’t have to say that last part.” As she said that, she tried to continue the meditation, but then Lunea’s face resurfaced in her mind because Chief Yu mentioned her. The embarrassment tripled when she compared herself to Lady Lunea.

Pyak!

It made a loud noise when Chief Yu hit her hand with the stick, ”Let’s stop here if you can’t focus, or else we are just wasting our time. Get some fresh air, calm your mind, and get back to work. We will hold a session of two hours from Monday to Friday after your shift.”

After that, Chief Yu left the training ground while muttering that he wanted to try his technique and new recipes. All the attention was on her, and she got even more embarrassed.

Kate kept a straight face and left the training ground. She looked around, trying to find her husband. Her husband was still mediating and remained unbothered despite the ruckus. She hoped her husband was done so they could leave together.

’Maybe I should really get some fresh air...’ As she thought of taking a walk around the academy, she spotted the Joes. Her regular customers kept her business afloat in the United Sovereign when they were in hard times. She felt bad about their meeting. They should probably know why she met them at the academy two nights ago.

Kate decided to meet them, waving her hand at Amy, who tried to see what had happened. This training ground was booked; no one could use it until they were done. However, the Emperor did not mind people watching them. The Emperor wanted to popularize the cultivation.

’I guess I should tell them about cultivation, telling them they could join the Thousand Vows Pavilion if they are interested.’

She thought of helping the Emperor, who helped her get an apprenticeship under Chief Yu. The Joes might be able to use this information to get more connections and friends within the Tang Empire.

”What’s up, guys?”

”Oh, you are here too?” Cody, Sam, and Amy did not notice Kate, but John spotted Kate.

John did not want to call Kate after what happened two nights ago. He was afraid that Kate might not want to get associated with them anymore. He could understand because their association might put Kate in trouble. However, he was relieved that Kate did not think of cutting their relationship.

”We are about to head to our usual training ground, but we noticed a crowd here,” John added.

”Ah, yes. His Majesty found something interesting on his last journey, and he’s sharing it with us. Fortunately, my husband and I are the lucky ones to be chosen,” Kate explained what happened.

”Ah, your husband is here? Where is he? I want to meet him,” Amy seemed to filter out about the first part after hearing the last part. It was natural for her to be so curious since none of them had met Kate’s mysterious husband.

Kate was not purposely hiding her husband from her friends. It was just that her husband was too busy with his new position as the Vice Chief of the Dungeon Management Division. They could not really find a time to meet.

”There, the fifth from the left on the second row.”

The four immediately turned toward the direction, looking for the mysterious man. They quickly found the man with such a clear position, especially when he was in the front row. John, Cody, Sam, and Amy froze for a moment before they slowly turned toward their friend.

They had an unbelievable expression on their faces because they recognized the man. As a part of the training, the academy would send them to clear a dungeon for their rank. The same man, three times, was in charge of their group, the Vice Chief of the Dungeon Management Division, Zhao Zhong.

Vice Chief was a high-ranking position, just two ranks below the Prime Minister and the Supreme General. The highest authority was the absolute authority of the Emperor. Below the Emperor was the Prime Minister and the Supreme General, who would handle the affairs when the Emperor was away. Below the Prime Minister was a Division Chief, and Zhao Zhong was below that Division Chief.

On top of Zhao Zhong’s current status, he was also one of the well-known figures who helped Tang Shaoyang in founding the empire. People knew that Zhao Zhong once fought alongside the Supreme General Zhang Mengyao and Vice Supreme General Wei Xi. It was not an exaggeration to say Zhao Zhong had a special connection to the Emperor.

”People are watching. Let’s talk somewhere else,” Kate brought her friends to a more private area.
