Chapter 1040: Chapter 362: Rein’s Influence

Inside the luxurious carriage, an elderly noble with white hair and a middle-aged man with a handlebar mustache sat together. Although Fandar had never met Earl Dalair before,

it was clear the elderly man was indeed Earl Dalair.

Moreover, judging by their resemblance, Fandar deduced they were likely father and son. After a brief nod of greeting, he sat on the other side.

The man first scrutinized Fandar, then the middle-aged man with the handlebar mustache smiled slightly and said, ”Hello, Captain Fandar, I am Camacho, and this is my father, Earl Dalair.”

”Good afternoon, gentlemen.”

”Captain Fandar, let me get straight to the point. I heard you were lucky enough to come across those items on the wagon?” Camacho stated bluntly.

”Yes.” Fandar nodded.

To avoid revealing the true circumstances of Lord Rein, he had indeed said that, explaining how they managed to procure these items.

”Then, Fandar Sir, are you aware of the value of these items?”

”Of course, it is one of the top three bounties in the Empire at the Wailing Wind Fjord.” Fandar nodded, at the time Meng Bu had already been uncovered by Spencer, too many people saw the head of Deep Sea Giant Leader Dune.

And not long after, the items on the remaining two wagons were stirring up a lot of rumors.

Clearly, these two people should already know what the items on the remaining two wagons are. As the most influential people in Fjord County, it was no surprise to Fandar.

”Very well, since so, let me speak plainly, if you truly obtained the loot through prowess, I believe no one would dare envy the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group.”

”But if it is the Goddess’s favor... Fandar sir, you ought to know, the Goddess will not favor one for eternity.” The mustached middle-aged man, Camacho, said with a smile.

He was confident that he could persuade this captain of the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group standing before him.

After all, investigations showed that his group was not affiliated with any great nobles nor was a pawn for certain powerful forces involved in shady dealings.

They had no significant backing and their connections were simply humorous to his level.

However, he gathered from reliable sources that this Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group was quite united with impressive combat strength. Even if the Dalair family mobilized their elites, there would likely be significant losses.

Hence, this conversation was taking place.

”Lord Camacho, please state your intentions openly.” Fandar said solemnly.

”Captain Fandar, the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group needs to announce publicly that they picked up war returns originally belonging to the Dalair family.”

”Indeed, the Goddess’s favor is also favor, we promise that we will fully pay you the physical parts of the Empire’s bounty upfront, such as the gold coins.”

”Moreover, we will provide some excellent weaponry and equipment to the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group.” Camacho said with a smile.

To Camacho, the terms offered were already very sincere.

The Dalair family had agreed to forgo the bounty prize income to gain the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group’s approval.

In some sense, the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group would use this matter to connect with the noble Dalair family, something many mercenary groups only dreamed of achieving.

”I’m sorry, Lord Camacho, I can’t accept your condition.” Fandar shook his head and said.

”Hmm?” Camacho’s smile froze, his expression turning grim!

At this moment, the elderly man with combed-back white hair, Earl Dalair, waved his hand, interrupting the conversation between the mustached man and Fandar, and said gravely, ”Captain Fandar, are you sure you’ve thought this through? Don’t bring ruin upon your small mercenary group.”

Earl Dalair squinted his eyes, exuding a sudden burst of the might from years of holding high positions, enough to make a common person tremble in fear.

”I have stated very clearly, Lord Earl.” Fandar fearlessly responded.

Nonetheless, he decided to give them a warning.

”Moreover, although I found these items, should the mister who cleared out the Sea God Sect’s stronghold comes back for the spoils, who knows what will happen.”

Fandar’s words caused Earl Dalair and his son to change their expressions, exchanging glances.

For a moment, no one spoke in the carriage.

”Gentlemen, if there is nothing else, I’ll take my leave.” Fandar slightly bowed and disembarked the carriage.

...

”Father, do you think what Fandar said was true or false?”

”I suspect it’s unlikely to be true. If the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group had connections with such a high-level person, they wouldn’t be lingering in the eastern Frostwind Prairie for so many years.”

”Hmm, your analysis makes sense. But does that matter?”

”What matters now is, having those items from the wagon, the Dalair family can take another step forward. Therefore, we have to proceed with this matter.” Earl Dalair looked at his eldest son with satisfaction and said.

”I have already contacted Lord Luther. With the strong support of the Snyder family, our Dalair family is bound to advance further!”

”Understood.” Camacho said, his expression showing sudden realization.

This was where he admired his father, knowing when to be ruthless without hesitation.

”Once our carriage leaves, commence immediately, delays bring changes!” Earl Dalair said in a deep voice.
