Chapter 1016: Chapter 355: Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group (Double Chapter) (3)

Since the time at the horse field, he felt that Rein seemed quite extraordinary, with an outstanding demeanor, yet a layer of mist seemed to shroud him, making it difficult to discern his depth.

But this was not a bad thing.

Having been in the mercenary group for so many years, Fandar trusted his gut and judgment.

At this moment, seeing the atmosphere was fitting, Fandar couldn’t help but bring up the main topic.

“Lord Rein, are you also here for the Empire’s bounty, to kill the Sea Clan? If so, why not join our team?”

The members of the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group beside them, upon hearing their leader Fandar’s words, couldn’t help but be puzzled as to why their leader would suddenly invite a stranger.

Although the young man’s attire seemed to indicate he was a Wizard Apprentice, a relatively mature mercenary group like theirs was rather cautious about suddenly adding a stranger before executing a mission.

After all, the veterans had become very coordinated with each other, and adding someone suddenly would more or less disrupt that synergy.

Moreover, the stranger’s background was unclear, potentially bringing major problems to the team.

“Well… It can be considered as going to kill the Sea Clan.”

“Since Captain Fandar invites so earnestly… alright.” Rein thought for a moment, nodded, and agreed.

Although there was some intelligence from Luther regarding the Sea God Sect, it mostly pertained to the broader aspects. As for the specific strength and distribution of the Sea God Sect near the Frost Mist Cliff, it was not very clear. A field investigation would undoubtedly be most prudent.

Rein had been planning to do so before.

Fandar was instantly delighted, smiling and saying: “That’s wonderful! Lord Rein, cheers! Let’s hope we cooperate happily!”

“Cheers~”

“Lord Rein, may I boldly ask, are you a rather rare Metal Series Wizard Apprentice?”

“Oh? How did Captain Fandar know?” Rein appropriately displayed a bit of surprise, smiling as he spoke.

“Haha, just now at the horse field, I saw Lord Rein perform the ‘Sharpness Technique’, its power seemed quite extraordinary…” Fandar said with a smile.

…

And the other members of the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group, upon hearing this, showed expressions of sudden realization.

No wonder their captain suddenly invited a stranger to join the team; turns out the person was a rare Metal Series Wizard Apprentice.

That explained everything!

In addition to the captain’s sister Georgia, an archer and Second Level Wizard Apprentice, everyone else in this mercenary group were warriors and rangers.

If they could have a Metal Series Wizard Apprentice to enhance with ‘Sharpness Technique’ during battle, the boost to the team would be substantial.

This made some people in the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group much less resistant to Rein’s joining.

…

Noon.

Rein and Fandar’s mercenary group moved towards the direction of the shipwreck.

Along the way, Rein also learned that not only the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group, but several other mercenary groups had also been lured by the high bounties from the Empire’s Marn Province, coming to the Wailing Wind Fjord.

The recent buzz in the Fjord Tavern also proved this point.

On the flip side, the ever-emerging various Sea Clan, bewitched by the Sea God Sect, did bring significant pressure to the Empire’s defense line.

“Captain Fandar, what’s the plan for this time…” Rein casually asked.

“Our target this time is to kill a hundred thick-shelled lobstermen and bring back their massive pincers as proof for the mission.” A plate armor knight holding a tower shield chuckled and answered Rein’s question.

“Of course, if we can kill a few Sharp-blade Nagas, that would be even better.” The knight added with a grin.

“Sharp-blade Nagas?” Rein asked with keen interest.

“Well, Lord Rein, have you not learned? Sharp-blade Nagas, an advanced Sea Clan, generally have power above that of an Official Knight, with some even reaching the level of a Great Knight. The bounty for them is worth several times that of the thick-shelled lobstermen.”

“However, if we encounter them, we must be very cautious.” The knight reminded with a warning tone.

At this point, the others looked at Rein somewhat oddly.

After all, not everyone in the team was welcoming of Rein’s addition.

The Wizard Apprentice, although a rare Metal Series, seemed a bit green, inexperienced, almost as if he had just left the Wizard School for a trial.

It’s not ideal to have an inexperienced Wizard Apprentice, even if it’s a rare Metal Series.

The captain probably didn’t think it through when he invited him without asking clearly.

“Is that so, are there any more formidable ones?” Rein continued to ask.

“Of course, this Lord Rein seems to come here to hunt the Sea Clan, but the preparation work seems to be quite insufficient.” A clear female voice came from the back.

“What if you encounter a Deep Sea Giant? Wouldn’t you be scared out of your wits and flee?” A graceful young woman, equipped with a Battle Bow and wearing leather armor, showed a hint of sarcasm as she urged her horse forward.

Georgia was an archer and a Second Level Wizard Apprentice herself and didn’t agree with her brother’s decision to invite Rein.

Because Rein, clad in a white Wizard Robe at such a young age, actually wielded an Iron Skin Staff.

Who does he think he is, the ancient Legendary Wizard Rockdillo?!

He was most likely a greenhorn who just left the Wizard School for training.

“Georgia, mind your attitude,” Fandar said in a solemn tone.

“Lord Rein, I apologize, this is my sister Georgia, an archer and Second Level Wizard Apprentice, who I usually spoil, making her somewhat arrogant,” said Fandar with an apologetic face.
