Chapter 1017: Chapter 355: Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group (Double-Length Chapter) (Part 4)

“How strong is the Deep Sea Giant?” Rein waved his hand, seemingly unconcerned.

“Hmm… Last time, I saw from a distance the famous Blood Wolf Mercenary Group on the Frostwind Prairie fighting a Deep Sea Giant. The latter displayed formidable combat power.”

“Moreover, its strength is particularly outstanding. The Blood Wolf’s leader, a Senior Knight armed with a Tower Shield, could not withstand a single blow and was struck flying, injured. Eventually, after losing several members, they barely managed to kill it by nimbly avoiding direct confrontation.”

If our team encounters it, I’m afraid our chances of victory are slim, and we should avoid it immediately.” Fandar’s face grew serious as he spoke of the Deep Sea Giant.

Rein nodded, smiling as he said, “Then the bounty for this Deep Sea Giant must be quite high? Now that I’m here, maybe we can give it a try.”

“Even with you, I’m afraid it won’t change the outcome. It’s best not to encounter the Deep Sea Giant at all!” Georgia interjected, still unhappy from being scolded by her brother.

“Newcomer, my brother said your Sharpness Technique is quite powerful. Why not show us?”

“Hehe, I’ll naturally use it when we encounter a battle. Using it now would just waste spiritual power.” Rein wasn’t angry, since he also had a sister.

However, he didn’t do as Georgia suggested, merely waved his hand.

This gesture made Georgia furious, and she snorted heavily, shook the reins, and rode away.

…

As the team advanced towards the shipwreck debris, the surrounding broadleaf forest thinned out.

Before long, the team emerged from the woods, reaching a more coastal marshland area, with vegetation primarily composed of low shrubs and grasslands.

Rein chatted with Fandar as they journeyed, quickly gaining a better understanding of the situation with the Sea Clan that landed nearby for raids.

At this point, the topic shifted to the Sea God Sect.

“The hardest to deal with are the Sea God Sect members. Some, who control Sea Eagles, are slightly weaker and the easiest to handle; we call them Eagle Tamers, typically possessing Senior or Peak Knight abilities.”

“Others, wearing black robes with a giant octopus emblem on their chests, are Sea God Sect Deacons, each with the strength of an Official Wizard, making them tough opponents.”

“However, whether against Eagle Tamers or Sea God Sect Deacons, archers are the best choice. That’s why most of the mercenary groups here are predominantly archers or rangers.”

Fandar indicated with a slight backward nod why half the team carried battle bows.

“I see.” Rein’s face showed understanding.

No wonder he had found it odd that nearly everyone in the Fjord Bar carried a battle bow, while the rest had all sorts of shields.

“Captain Fandar, do you know if there are any strong members of the Sea God Sect nearby?” Rein asked again.

“Hmm… The most famous strong figure of the Sea God Sect in Wailing Wind Fjord is known as Harvers or ‘Shadow Heart Flamer’ – a High Rank Wizard with reportedly Legendary strength.”

“Recently, he’s consecutively killed two Imperial Vice Admirals responsible for the area’s defense.” Fandar replied solemnly.

“Don’t jinx it… If we do encounter the ‘Shadow Heart Flamer’, we’re doomed!” Georgia, overhearing her brother’s conversation with Rein, couldn’t help but complain in a low voice.

“Georgia!” Fandar turned and chided.

“I apologize, Lord Rein. As for other strong figures of the Sea God Sect, I’m not sure. Those details are considered top secret within the Cult, and even the Empire might not know.” Fandar said apologetically.

“Hmm.” Rein nodded.

Just then, Rein suddenly glanced up at the sky.

Seconds later, a vigilant archer whispered, “Captain, it’s an Iron Beak Sea Eagle! There’s an Eagle Tamer from the Sea God Sect nearby!”

“Everyone, on alert!” Fandar whispered.

“Swish! Swish!”

The members of the Ice Claw Bear Mercenary Group dismounted with serious expressions, quickly retrieved their battle bows, and drew their arrows, taking aim.

“Talk about jinxing it – now that we mentioned the Sea God Sect, here they are, making me so mad!” Georgia grumbled under her breath while aiming, giving Rein a glowering look.
