Chapter 497: Chapter 225: Secret Technique! (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

Smelling the girl’s delicate body so close at hand, and hearing her words that obviously revealed a favorable impression, Rein couldn’t help but feel a bit restless.

It had been a while since he was last in close contact with Baroness Crowley, and his Constitution had increased recently…

This instinctively led Rein to gently place his hand on the waist of the twin-tailed girl.

As the saying goes, “A man’s head and a woman’s waist should not be touched lightly.”

The twin-tailed girl’s body suddenly stiffened, but there was no hint of dodging or rejection. Instead, she lifted her head and looked at Rein with her large, water-filled eyes.

At this point, no more words were needed, Rein gently used some force, and the girl was pulled into his embrace. He lowered his head and covered her blushing lips…

Just when they were as close as paint, suddenly, footsteps sounded from outside the door.

“Thump thump thump!”

The knocking on the door rang out!

The twin-tailed girl immediately jumped out from Rein’s arms like a startled rabbit, with a soft cry.

“Lord Reine, has your condition improved?” came the voice of Major Mary from outside the door.

Their first close encounter came to an abrupt end…

—————–

The next day, at the crack of dawn.

Near Meister’s coastal waters, on a secluded island near the outer edge.

Nehru was at the entrance of a cave, enjoying his gourmet food with relish. He was roasting fist-sized, oyster-like creatures of pale golden color on a cast-iron plate over a campfire, emitting waves of tempting aroma.

At that moment, a familiar raven flew down, flapping its wings.

Upon seeing it, Nehru’s heart leaped with joy!

It seemed like that fellow Wexman had completed the deal.

Although the guy always asked for a king’s ransom, his professional capability was unquestionable.

Not only did he have a high success rate, but he also never delayed, often fulfilling deals swiftly. This was why Nehru, after agonizing over the steep price that was almost doubled, had still agreed to it.

The raven perched on Nehru’s shoulder, and the next second, Nehru’s expression darkened!

“What! Wexman has failed?” exclaimed Nehru.

The raven too, startled by Nehru’s sudden burst of momentum, cawed alarmedly and quickly took flight.

Nehru lost all interest in the golden clams roasting to a juicy finish before him, standing up with a displeased face, his gaze turned towards the distant sea, deep in thought.

On one hand, he was shocked that Wexman could fail, but what troubled him most was the fact that Wexman, failure aside, had not even escaped!

This was damn troublesome!

Knowing it would save him trouble, he hadn’t even reported the matter up the chain of command, but had simply conspired with Wexman and acted on their own.

If Wexman were dead, the whole affair would actually be simpler; he would at most be scolded.

But if Wexman were not dead, the Federation navy would surely try to rescue him, and then the higher-ups would have to clean up his mess.

Normally, as part of this special squad, doing private jobs was overlooked as long as it didn’t bring trouble to the Federation.

But if trouble arose and they couldn’t manage the aftermath, that would be a different story.

Forget it, it seemed that he had no choice but to contact the captain immediately…

….

Meanwhile.

A six-person squad in a blend of long robes and knightly plate armor swiftly disembarked from a ship at the docks of Fishing Port Town and headed straight for the town’s administrative hall.

Although these six were dressed differently, their spirit, and the quality of their weapons spoke volumes—these were no ordinary people.

Half an hour later, inside the meeting room of Fishing Port Town’s administrative hall.

Including Rein, a group of people gathered around a long conference table with a middle-aged man speaking:

“Baron Reine, Admiral Campbell, the commander of the Southern Fleet, has heard about your likely capture of the assassin of Generals Chu Kwein and Bravo, and he holds you in high regard.”

“This time our visit is both to oversee the transfer of the prisoner to the base and to inquire about some of your thoughts, Baron Reine.”

It seemed the man was worried he hadn’t been clear enough, so he added, “The admiral has specifically instructed me that your reasonable requests will be considered.”

“Thank you to the Imperial Navy for the commendation, I’m only doing my duty,” said Reine.

“As for rewards… if it’s possible, I’ve been looking for metal-related witchcraft. At present, I have only mastered the Sharpness Technique, which is a metal-related magic. It would be excellent if I could learn another new metal-related witchcraft.”

“Metal-related witchcraft?”

The middle-aged man frowned slightly, pondering for a moment before saying, “Lord Reine, metal-related witchcraft of first level and above are highly confidential to the Empire, and those below the first level, to my knowledge, are rare. I’ll need to confirm this after I return.”

“Look, do you have any other requests as an alternative? If there really isn’t any, we don’t want Admiral Campbell to be seen as breaking his promise,” said the middle-aged man with a smile.

Rein smiled and said, “If there really isn’t any, then I would ask you to help me find an extraordinary Combat Skill for a Dagger.”

Rein had already prepared a backup plan, because Trevo had mentioned the night before that metal-related witchcraft were exceedingly rare even on the Navy’s special exchange list.

“Your alternative plan is noted, Lord Reine,” said the middle-aged man. He then turned to Major Mary and said, “The special task force’s mission here has concluded. According to fleet orders, you should return with us later.”
