Chapter 486: Chapter 222: Night Raid (Two in One Mega Chapter)_3

—————–

As seventy to eighty storm crows met their deaths, Zenina, cloaked in black and many kilometers away, swayed slightly.

These storm crows had been the subjects of her witchcraft “Eye of the Crow,” so at this moment, she experienced a certain degree of witchcraft backlash.

She frowned and massaged her temples:

“Lord Wexman, perhaps I have located that Rein.”

“But strangely, he doesn’t match the description you gave me. It seems he’s an archer, and just now, he shot over eighty of my storm crows in a very short amount of time.”

“Hmm? An archer?” Zenina heard Wexman say, taken aback.

He knew well, for just two days ago, Nehru had detailed to him that he was dealing with a young Great Knight adept with a Two-Handed Warhammer, not an archer.

This discrepancy between the intelligence and the reality was quite rare.

It instantly made the battle-hardened Wexman vigilant.

At the same time, Wexman thought of something and asked:

“Tell me more, how did he discover that there was something wrong with your storm crows?”

“As you command, my lord. At the time….”

After a series of questions and answers.

Wexman paced back and forth on the beach for a while, then asked again:

“So you’re saying, after he noticed something was off about your storm crows, he started shooting at them with arrows alone? No one else intervened during the entire process?”

“Yes, my lord Wexman.”

“And are there other persons with him we should be wary of?”

“Yes, according to ‘Eye of the Crow,’ I preliminarily judge that there are at least two wizard apprentices and another archer with the target.”

“Two wizard apprentices and another archer? Their strength is no less than that of an elite squad of the Dragan Empire Navy,” Wexman blurted out.

“Yes, my lord, I too am quite surprised.”

“But one of them, a male and a female, performed witchcraft while another male wielded an archery bow; I believe my judgment is correct,” Zenina confidently stated.

For a moment, Wexman felt a hint of hesitation.

Because the situation of the target now greatly differed from what Nehru had described.

Not only did the target’s preferred weapon differ, but also the strength of the people around the target wasn’t just a novice female wizard apprentice as Nehru had said, but there was an extra archer and another wizard apprentice.

This situation was somewhat unexpected.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t forcefully proceed.

The key issue was, that would be a losing deal.

He could go in but Nehru would need to pay more!

“Zenina, just maintain surveillance on the storm crows from a distance, and the moment the target leaves Fishing Port Town, let me know immediately.”

“Also, send a message to that guy Nehru, tell him the current situation, and that if he wants me to intervene, he needs to up the payment. It’s not that I’m raising my price on the spot, but Nehru’s information was wrong, so ask him if two boxes of shadow steel ingots will suffice.”

“As you command, my lord!” Zenina bowed slightly, then took two steps back and began chanting spells.

—————–

Fishing Port Town administrative hall.

The sudden swarm of crows had alarmed the others in the administrative hall, including Major Mary, who was drafting a letter. They quickly gathered in the courtyard behind the hall.

Looking at the black feathers scattered across the courtyard, Major Mary knew that the enemy was formidable.

Soon, they were discussing in Governor Rein’s office.

“Nathaniel, Miss Vinica, both experienced wizard apprentices, I ask, can we track the enemy’s location using the storm crows?” Trevo voluntarily inquired.

Trevo believed in offense as the best defense and being an archer, he had an advantage against wizards who needed to chant spells and had mediocre defensive power, not fearing even if they were wizards.

After some thought, both shook their heads.

“Trevo, I can’t track, but I can tell that the witchcraft they used must be ‘Crow Swarm Summoning’ of the shadow series,” Nathaniel said, sharing his experienced judgment.

“Indeed, Trevo, the enemy uses witchcraft to summon the crows, which are not normally around the caster. This is entirely different from our process of modifying and taming birds,” Vinica explained after a moment’s thought.

“However, judging by the number of crows summoned, the enemy is likely the same as us, probably a third-tier wizard apprentice, not a full-fledged wizard,” she added.

Rein nodded.

Not a full-fledged wizard, but a third-tier wizard apprentice, huh?

That seemed a bit strange.

It seemed that the likelihood that the enemy was that Federation Witchery Curses Master from before was not high.

However, Rein noticed out of the corner of his eye that the usually silent Major Mary was frowning in thought. He then took the initiative to ask:

“Major Mary, what do you think about this situation?”

“The storm crows you mentioned just now remind me of several reports from the Empire’s Southern Navy where crows were also described.”
