Chapter 495: Chapter 224: The Choice of the 5th Profession (2 in 1 Big Chapter)_4

“Why is there only one person?” Jonistone muttered to himself as he observed the ocean surface through the periscope, puzzled.

They had just received a distress signal and immediately headed in that direction; also, based on the signal, it was the Federation Navy’s “Leviathan Team” command passphrase.

But the operations of the “Leviathan” team were at least in the form of one official member accompanied by several followers, making it nearly impossible for just one person to be involved.

Under the faint starlight, a woman in a black robe could be seen not far ahead of the submarine, covering a wound on her abdomen with her hand as she ran swiftly, with an arrow barely visible in the wound.

The metal hatch on top of the submarine creaked open, and four soldiers wearing Federation Navy uniforms quickly climbed out, advanced toward her, and immediately helped the black-robed woman into the submarine.

Shortly after, the submarine slowly descended and disappeared beneath the ocean surface.

….

A quarter of an hour later, a male officer came to report, “Lord Jonistone, the lady who just arrived requested to see you, stating that she has something of great importance to discuss with you.”

“Oh? Has her injury been treated?”

“Uh… it’s been treated. She didn’t like that we only have men here, so she treated her wound herself, and I can’t believe she was able to take care of such a serious injury on her own,” the male officer couldn’t help but remark.

“Alright, I understand. I’m on my way!”

Jonistone still had his doubts.

Although they were all part of the Federation Navy, normally their level wouldn’t have direct contact with the Leviathan Team.

Most of the time, they reported up, and the Navy higher-ups would mobilize the Leviathan Team.

He had no idea what the situation was for them to discuss this time.

…..

Inside the submarine’s medical bay.

“What? Miss Zenina, you say that Lord Wexman of the Leviathan Team is in trouble?” Jonistone was shocked!

Known as the “Shadow Assassin”, Wexman’s fame was even above Nehru’s. As a member of the Federation Navy, Jonistone had certainly heard of him.

“Yes, Lord Jonistone.”

“Then… may I boldly ask, is Lord Wexman alive or…” Jonistone, after the initial shock, immediately calmed down and continued to inquire after some thought.

“This… I can’t be sure,” the black-robed woman Zenina furrowed her brow, recalled for a moment, and shook her head.

“Because I was being chased by three people, two of them were third-level Wizard Apprentices plus one marksman; I really couldn’t pay attention to the Lord. Moreover, I was following his orders to lead the others away, allowing him to confront the target person.”

Jonistone, recalling Zenina’s initial disheveled appearance with an arrow in her abdomen, nodded in understanding.

Although she was a follower of Lord Wexman, she had clearly done her best, which was beyond reproach.

“Afterwards, I waited at the designated place for a long while for the Lord, but he never showed. I just knew something must have happened to him.”

“So, at the moment, it’s only confirmed that something happened to Lord Wexman in Fishing Port Town, but what exactly happened is still unclear, right?” Jonistone frowned and said.

“Yes.”

“There’s another matter, I don’t know if it’s appropriate to disclose it, but if it involves the Leviathan Team’s secret mission, Miss Zenina, you may refuse to answer.”

“Because if we’re to rescue Lord Wexman, we need to know the details of both your missions to assess whether we have the capability to conduct the rescue, or if we should report upwards.”

“This…” Zenina’s eyes flickered for a moment, unsure of how to begin.

From what she knew, Lord Wexman had come to Fishing Port Town upon a personal request from Lord Nehru, and they even bargained once, frankly, it was a private job.

Under normal circumstances, with Lord Wexman present, no one would dare mention it.

But now, if this were to be disclosed, it might affect Lord Wexman’s reputation.

Yet, Jonistone’s words were highly rational—otherwise, if the Federation Navy misjudged and there were significant casualties during the rescue operation, she could not escape blame either.

After some thought, Zenina spoke, “Lord Wexman came to Fishing Port Town upon Lord Nehru’s request to assassinate a person named Rein!”

“What? Rein!” Jonistone could no longer control his emotions and exclaimed in shock.

Because he was familiar with this Rein!

The information about Rein from Lord Nehru’s side had been provided by him!
