Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 298: Chapter 224: Great Wizard and the Endless Sea

”Can’t talk about it?” Isaac raised an eyebrow, a spark of curiosity flashing in his eyes.

In a world of magic, there were indeed many things that couldn’t be spoken of before they happened. Some words could alter the outcome of events, while others could affect the listener—usually for the worse.

But no matter the specifics, any affair that could be influenced by information alone was, by definition, a major one.

’And it was most likely the former reason. After all, Mensa and I are both High-level Mages. If he was fine after learning about it, then I naturally would be too.’

However, since it couldn’t be discussed, Isaac didn’t press the issue. He just nodded, indicating he understood.

Mensa didn’t say much more, either. The main purpose of his trip had been to warn Isaac.

And since Isaac’s suspicion had been mostly lifted, he had no reason to remain. Besides, he still needed to rush to Itra to assist Princess Philo.

So, with a flicker of Arcane Radiance, Mensa left.

Isaac lingered for a moment in thought, then turned and returned to his Mage Tower to continue his unfinished training. As for the Dimension Apostles active within the Empire...

’What did the Dimension Apostles of the Master of Billions of Flesh have to do with him, Isaac?’

’On the contrary, seeing as he had just screwed over the Master of Billions of Flesh, Isaac had every reason not to get involved. A Mad Witch like him, hiding from the minions of an Outer God—that was perfectly normal, wasn’t it?’

...

And so, time slipped by as Isaac immersed himself in his research. Soon, another three months had passed. Of his two projects, the research into stealing the Divine Power of the God of Credit was stuck; there had been no progress at all in three months.

His Transformation Magic, on the other hand, was progressing quite rapidly. He had learned all sixteen transformations and had even successfully fused three of them into his Slime form. Although they were all Low Level Demon transformations and didn’t provide a huge boost to his combat power...

...it was a great help to Isaac’s Path of the Ten Thousand Spirits, providing him with a significant amount of research data.

Meanwhile, things outside of his research were also going smoothly. The Wizard Organization’s official membership had expanded to thirty. Although only three were Tier Two Mages and the rest were Tier One Mages, this growth rate was already quite impressive for a newly established organization.

The only issue was that its industrial ventures hadn’t developed yet. It had little income to speak of, so the Wizard Organization was basically running on Isaac’s personal funds.

But that was to be expected. All newly founded Wizard Organizations were like this.

After all, the new recruits, whether Tier One or Tier Two, were mostly self-taught. A Wizard who knew even a few combat Witchcraft spells was considered exceptional; you couldn’t possibly expect them to have any research abilities.

This was especially true for Legendary Mages. In this group, the strong included Mad Witches like Isaac, who at Tier Two could easily defeat a Tier Three High Knight. The weak included Grand Wizards who had to be cautious even when facing many Tier One Demons...

The advancement of a Legendary Mage, after all, was not like that of an Arcanist. An Arcanist’s promotion required learning a specific number of Magic spells and adhering to strict standards for constructing their personal knowledge system, to say nothing of meeting benchmarks for the fundamental Wizard attributes of Spiritual Power and Magic Power.

Therefore, this kind of severe mismatch between Level and combat power, common among Legendary Mages, was rarely seen in Arcanists—including the ability to punch above their weight class.

For an Arcanist, as long as they possessed sufficient talent, there were no major obstacles on their path to promotion. It wasn’t like being a Legendary Mage, which involved a fixed process.

But Arcanists had no reason to join a newly founded Wizard Organization, especially not one composed mainly of Legendary Mages.

After all, their respective specializations were simply too incompatible, even if the organization included a High-level Mage.

So, he was quite satisfied with the Wizard Organization’s current state of development. The only thing that troubled Isaac was that the organization had grown large enough to need a name. ’If I pick something grandiose,’ he thought, ’it will seem too arrogant. But if I choose something more subtle, it will feel too underwhelming...’

’It’s a real pain...’

’That’s why this whole naming business has been postponed until now.’

’But it’s fine. Hmm, the organization isn’t that big yet. I can procrastinate a little longer!’

On another front, the Dimension Apostles’ activities within the Empire were also proceeding very smoothly. Although the vast machine of the Empire had fully mobilized, displaying its terrifying potential for war...

But...

...the Master of Billions of Flesh was also a veteran Dimensional Demon God. Its resources were nothing to scoff at, and It had fully unleashed Its power, engaging the Empire in a direct confrontation!

And for the time being, It was not losing ground!

Of course, that was only temporary. The Master of Billions of Flesh was, after all, a Dimensional Demon God; the Real World was not Its home turf. Let alone the Master Itself, even Its powerful Dimension Apostles were limited in how long they could operate in the Real World. Even with their Immortal and Undying traits, their threat wasn’t that significant.

Therefore, the victor of this war would undoubtedly be the Empire!

Of course, this had nothing to do with Isaac. He didn’t care if the Master of Billions of Flesh lost. After all, this wasn’t a conflict he had started; it was a pleasant surprise that, far from hindering his plans for revenge...

...on the contrary, once the War officially began, the Cultists active throughout the Empire provided excellent cover for the actions of his own Dimension Apostles. This allowed them to focus all their energy on dismantling the forces of Prince Norns.
