Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 266: Chapter 205: Advancement to High-level Mage

Of course, besides the materials being easy to gather, there was another very important reason. [God-Stealer] was different from the power obtained through other rituals. In a sense, it was even safer than transaction rituals.

Because the core of this ability is ”stealing,” while the core of transaction rituals is ”picking up.”

”Stealing,” naturally, means to take something silently, without anyone knowing a thing. Unless you expose yourself, not even the original owner will find out. Naturally, the connection is severed completely.

But ”picking up” is different. Even if it’s something that was clearly abandoned, there are always some non-human existences trying to exploit a loophole on Isaac, forcibly claiming the item as Theirs.

Therefore, with the power obtained using [God-Stealer], there’s no need to worry about being usurped, unlike with other methods.

So, even repeatedly stealing the power of a specific Outer God wouldn’t have any major repercussions.

Since that was the case, it was only natural to do things in the most convenient way.

’Besides, I couldn’t just let the Master of Billions of Flesh’s kind intentions go to waste, could I?’

Just as Isaac had calculated, the ritual proceeded smoothly. Unlike the incident with the Saint Master, no unexpected situations arose. The only thing that could be considered a surprise was perhaps how quickly the margin for error decreased with the Master of Billions of Flesh being awake.

However, Isaac was always cautious and still stopped immediately at five hundred percent. Thus, after silently stealing a large amount of the Master of Billions of Flesh’s power, Liu Li successfully advanced to Tier Three.

And it all went unnoticed by the Master of Billions of Flesh.

This was due to two factors. First, the [God-Stealer] ability itself was inherently subtle. Second, as Isaac grew stronger, he traded with more Outer Gods and consistently came out with huge advantages. Although news of these exploits didn’t spread far, they were his accomplishments nonetheless. As a result, his [God-Stealer] ability had naturally grown stronger.

It was already just a step away from becoming an Authority, and now it had been further Enhanced. Isaac estimated that once he advanced to Tier Three, the ability would evolve directly into an Authority. Of course, if Isaac were to conduct a few more ritual transactions, the ability would ascend to an Authority even if he didn’t reach Tier Three. After all, it just needed that final push.

During the ritual, a crimson slurry of flesh gradually fused into Liu Li’s body with her every faint breath. An immense amount of Magic Power surged from within her. At the same time, Isaac sensed the aura of a third Authority emanating from her!

Looking at Liu Li and her powerful aura, Isaac’s eyes narrowed. ’When it comes to something like an Authority, more isn’t necessarily better.’

For a Wizard, what mattered most was whether they could develop or learn Authority Magic corresponding to their Authorities. The effect of activating the same Authority directly versus through Authority Magic was worlds apart!

As for Knights, while they didn’t have special Combat Techniques comparable to Authority Magic, the in-depth development of their Authorities remained the core of their training. Take Caesar’s [Thunder] Authority, for example. The more he developed it, the more powerful the Thunder he could summon in exchange for even greater strength.

Although Liu Li was neither a Wizard nor a Knight, the principle was the same for her. The number of Authorities wasn’t important; what mattered was their depth.

However, there was a rather awkward issue. Liu Li’s path was more akin to that of a Demon, as she possessed both Magic Power and a strong physique. But her physique couldn’t compare to a Demon of the same tier, to say nothing of a Knight.

As for Authority Magic...

’To be honest, even though I’ve always seen Liu Li as a lab assistant, her research ability...’

’...developing her own Authority Magic seems like a long shot.’

’But one could never be sure. After all, Liu Li isn’t just a Demon God’s Favored, she’s also a Divine Species. Her situation is unique.’

Before long, Liu Li’s eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes. After taking a moment to feel the power within her, she walked over to Isaac, bowed respectfully, and said, ”Master, it was a success!”

”Mm. How do you feel?” Isaac asked, cupping his chin as he sized Liu Li up and down.

”My Magic Power has multiplied several times over, and it’s still in a period of rapid growth. It should double again in a short time. Also, my [Invisible Hand] and [Perfect Form] Authorities have been strengthened a bit. I should be able to unleash the true power of these two Authorities now.

”However, I’ll need to run some tests to see the full extent. The greatest gain from this advancement is the new Authority I’ve acquired—[Follower]!”

”[Follower]? What kind of Authority is that?” Isaac asked, a look of confusion on his face.

He had spent the last while studying all sorts of Authorities in preparation for researching tactics for after he advanced to Tier Three. It was safe to say he had read through every document available to him in both the Truth Association and the Flesh Sect, yet he had never heard of an Authority called [Follower].

Of course, this was to be expected. It wasn’t just Wizards who were growing; the ”world” was growing too. According to the Truth Association’s latest Observations, in the period from five hundred years ago to two years ago, more than four hundred eighty-six new Authorities had appeared, along with three entirely new Domains.

”[Follower] is a rather unique Authority. It holds no power in itself; it’s more like a mark of identity. Proof... that I am your Follower!” As she spoke, the usually expressionless Liu Li’s face broke into a rare expression of immense pride.

”...So, this Authority has no effect on your combat power?” Isaac was speechless. ’Then isn’t it completely fucking useless?’
