Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 258: Chapter 201: Isaac: My Dearest Friend, Avin Kreman, Are You Okay?

The moment Isaac made his move in the Mysterious Void, the Black Orc God knew who he was. Of course, this wasn’t about Isaac’s true identity; rather, the God recognized him as the little thief who had stolen from him last time!

After all, in this day and age, while there were still plenty of Mad Witches, Ancient Mad Witches who dared to steal from an Outer God were few and far between. At the very least, an Evil God like the Black Orc God, who wasn’t averse to trading with Mad Witches, hadn’t encountered such an ancient one in several hundred years.

That’s why the impression he left was so profound. And even though the God still didn’t know Isaac’s true identity, its intuition screamed that this was, in all likelihood, the same person!

And when it saw what Isaac was after, its fury surged!

Because his target was its remaining Forbidden Knowledge—Skeleton Magic!

You ask why it was its *remaining* Forbidden Knowledge?

That’s because it was what was left over after Isaac’s last robbery!

What’s more, the item Isaac was trading was also Necromancy. This bastard was trying to bleed it dry!

How dare he mock a God!

How dare he mock a God!

The rage in the Black Orc God’s heart grew! It surged! It exploded!

Its fury reached its absolute peak!!!

But it was all for naught.

Isaac’s preparations were more than sufficient. No matter how furious the Black Orc God became, it was powerless to stop him. At best, it could only slightly hinder his actions, causing him to steal a little less.

Which only made it even angrier!

What enraged it further was that, in the past, when it traded with Mad Witches, it would usually toss out bait bit by bit, stoking the greed in their hearts step by step, before suppressing them with a single, overwhelming move!

But...

Isaac was a repeat customer...

So, based on the Black Orc God’s understanding of him, there was a very high probability that this guy would pull back in time...

Sure enough, as time went on, and under the Black Orc God’s deliberate control, the ritual’s margin for error dropped to five hundred percent. The traded Necromancy Knowledge had not yet been fully inscribed, and a small portion of the Magic Book in the Ritual Array was still blank, without the Evil God’s script.

Any other Mad Witch would probably risk waiting a little longer. After all, they still had a huge advantage, there wasn’t much left to inscribe, and delaying just a little wouldn’t hurt.

But...

This was Isaac.

Though Isaac was a Mad Witch, he was also very cautious.

To him, being greedy for this little bit extra was meaningless. His own safety was, and always would be, the most important thing.

So what if it was incomplete?

Even if it was missing a large portion, let alone just a little bit, Isaac would still resolutely pull back!

’After all, if it doesn’t work out this time, there’s always next time. Worst comes to worst, I’ll just complete it during our next trade. It’s no big deal.’

”You damned thief!!!!!”

In the Mysterious Void, the Black Orc God watched Isaac vanish without a trace. Despite having anticipated this, it still let out a roar of unwilling fury!

Meanwhile, back at the ritual site, even though the Black Orc God hadn’t finished inscribing the contents of the Necromancy trade, Isaac’s proactive termination of the ritual caused the repulsion of the Real World to surge toward it like a tidal wave, regardless of its unwillingness.

At the same time, because it had deliberately delayed the trading process, the transaction that should have been finished by the ritual’s end was still incomplete. The moment the ritual concluded, it also suffered the ritual’s backlash.

Of course, this level of backlash wouldn’t cause it any substantial harm; it was merely meant to disgust it.

But this was even more unbearable than suffering actual harm!

Unwilling, furious, disgusted...

But it all came back to the same thing...

It was all for naught!

A wisp of the Black Orc God’s Divine Thought, filled with boundless rage, departed from this world...

Only temporarily, of course.

Because both the Necromancy it had given and the Skeleton Magic Isaac had snatched were incomplete. Sooner or later, it would have to make another arduous trip.

With the ritual over, Isaac gave a casual wave of his hand. An evil and Profound Magic Power surged out, sweeping across the highest floor of the Mage Tower and using Erosion to wipe away all traces of the ritual. The only things left behind were a few special Concepts, which would provide some help to the success rate of Isaac’s future rituals.

Of course, their effect was still negligible for now.

After dealing with the traces, Isaac beckoned with his hand. The Magic Book floating in the air drifted slowly over and landed gently in his grasp.

Book of the Dead

That was the name of this Magic Book.

A gleam flickered in Isaac’s eyes. He quickly flipped through the Magic Book, a hint of surprise showing in his gaze. ’This content... The Black Orc God really went all out!’

It was no wonder Isaac was surprised. This Magic Book truly lived up to its name, Book of the Dead. The Necromancy recorded within was not only ancient but also formed a complete system!

At the very least, the portion Isaac had obtained was enough for Shushu to learn up to Tier Three!

As for it being ancient...

Normally, if a Magic was given the title of ”ancient,” it was basically useless. That’s because Magic is always strongest in the current era. Even for Legendary Mages, who primarily pursue the Mysterious, the current practice is to artificially imbue new-era Magic with a sense of the Mysterious, rather than blindly pursuing ancient Magic.

But that was just the normal situation. Necromancy, clearly, was an exception.

Because as times developed, ethical and moral systems were established, and other Extraordinary Powers were born, Magic like Necromancy—which is built upon the dead—became subject to more and more restrictions.

Coupled with some of Necromancy’s own inherent flaws, it was not popular in the mainstream Wizarding World. Naturally, the updating and replacement of its Magic were much slower, even to the point of near stagnation.
