Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 273: Chapter 207: Initial Construction of the Wizard Organization (Part 2)

Tier One Mages were a perfect fit. Isaac could not only solve their problems with ease, but they were also cheap. They hadn’t yet developed the typical arrogance of a Mage, making them excellent workhorses.

Furthermore, if these Tier One Mages advanced to Tier Two under Isaac’s guidance, their loyalty would undoubtedly be far greater than that of directly recruited Tier Two Mages.

But he couldn’t recruit only Tier One Mages. After all, they were somewhat weak. Arcanists were a bit better off. Before becoming Official Wizards, they went through an apprentice stage where they mastered numerous spells. While these spells were generally mediocre in power, their applications were quite broad.

Legendary Mages, on the other hand, were a lost cause. They mastered very few spells and had to rely almost entirely on their Talent Spell for damage output. If their Talent Spell was a support type, they were even more useless.

Even Arcanists were extremely weak in combat at Tier One. For a proper Wizard Organization, simply having the reputation of a High-level Mage at the helm was clearly not enough.

Beyond recruiting existing Wizards for immediate combat strength, the lifeblood of a Wizard Organization was undoubtedly its new recruits. Only with a steady stream of high-quality newcomers could an organization develop and grow strong.

Therefore, the other recruitment focus was on talented newcomers who had not yet begun to study Magic.

’This so-called talent doesn’t refer to an aptitude for Magic Power, but simply the ability to learn new knowledge.’ After all, Isaac was a Legendary Mage, so naturally, he was better at teaching other Legendary Mages.

’Although teaching the basics to a prospective Legendary Mage is difficult...’

’To be honest, this is easier than finding people with a talent for Magic Power. The Truth Association and Big Sis’s Mage Tower have already screened most of them. Any who are left are the bottom of the barrel, hardly worth the effort.’

’Although the path of a Legendary Mage is harder to begin...’

’With my current power, I have access to a few secret methods. For example, by imprisoning a Tier Three or higher Demon, elf, or other Magical Creature from another world, one could forcibly complete the ritual to obtain power.’

’Isaac didn’t yet have the ability to capture such beings, but that wasn’t an immediate problem. Even if he recruited new people now, they wouldn’t need to become Official Wizards right away. They would need to study first.’

This also served as a selection process. Only those with a strong capacity for learning would be qualified to stay and become Wizards.

’As for courage...’

Honestly, Isaac didn’t expect any of them to become a Mad Witch. That path was far too unique. Without a very specific talent, it was completely out of the question.

The recruits would fall into roughly two categories. Lorna would be responsible for recruiting Tier One and Tier Two Mages. After all, she was a Witch herself and moved in Caster circles. Although she didn’t frequent Lake Town, she had her own small social network, making her the perfect person for the job.

As for the children with no talent for Magic Power, Smith was the most suitable person to recruit them. For one, he had done similar work before and knew the ropes. For another, though he now served Isaac, he had been a steward for the Solomons Family for many years and still had numerous connections in their territory, which would be a great help.

And so, time slowly passed in a flurry of activity. Isaac didn’t bury himself completely in his research during this period. He made several appearances to meet the members Lorna and Smith had recruited.

Although there were too few people to formally establish the Wizard Organization, preparations were already underway. This included market research to determine future profitable ventures, based on the members’ areas of magical expertise and their intended research paths.

The youths with no talent for Magic Power, for instance, had already begun their preliminary studies of the fundamentals.

In short, there was a lot to do!

Fortunately, most of these tasks didn’t require Isaac’s intervention, so he could continue to bury himself in his research with peace of mind.

And so, after another three months had quietly passed, Isaac finally completed the construction of his first Authority Magic: Arrogant Turtle!

Honestly, constructing an Authority Magic was more difficult than Isaac had anticipated. Even with the help of his [Analysis] Authority, it had taken him a full three months!

Of course, this was partly because Isaac was unfamiliar with Authority Magic, and also because [Positive Infinitesimal] was a completely new Authority.

’Developing the next few Authority Magics will surely be much easier. But that’s a matter for the future. As for now...’

’First, I should go find those rather bold fellows. The Wizard Organization can wait. The basic framework isn’t even in place yet, so there’s no rush. It’s not my place to worry about these things at the moment.’

Therefore, after giving some simple instructions, Isaac set off with Shushu and Liu Li. Lorna had wanted to go as well, but she had to stay and manage the Wizard Organization’s affairs. Besides, her own power was ultimately a bit lacking. Although she could summon a Tier Three Giant Dragon to aid in combat, she herself was too fragile, making her a liability in a sudden battle.

As for Shushu and Liu Li...

Shushu had hopped onto Isaac’s shoulder of its own accord. It was at a critical juncture in its study of Necromancy, but Isaac had no real expectations for it. It could study if it wanted, or it could play. In any case, as a Divine Species, it didn’t need to delve too deeply into such spells. It could increase its power simply by obediently swallowing Divinity.

’Besides, it’s a pet. What combat power does a pet need?’

As for Liu Li...

’Hmm, she’s been the one left at home the last few times. If I don’t take her out this time, her resentment could probably summon an Evil God...’

Moreover, Liu Li had already advanced to Tier Three. Combined with her [Follower] Authority, which allowed Isaac to grant her abilities, her combat power was quite exceptional.

Bringing her along would be a decent help if they ran into any enemies.

...

Outside Nebula City in the Terra Empire, space twisted, and the figures of a man and a woman emerged. The man wore a gray Wizard Robe, a gray mouse perched on his shoulder gnawing on a blood-red crystal. The woman was dressed in a black and white maid outfit.

Of course, to the people of this world, it wasn’t seen as a maid outfit, but as some sort of lingerie...

The man and woman who emerged from the spatial distortion were, of course, Isaac and Liu Li. This was their first stop, and the only location for which Isaac had coordinates...

So, they had come here directly.

’However...’

Gazing at the giant city before him, Isaac sighed helplessly. ’They gave me a recommendation, so why not go the whole nine yards and provide the contact information, too?’

Nebula City was a famous commercial hub in the Terra Empire, said to be even more prosperous than the Imperial Capital. Rumor had it that Tier Four or even Tier Five Transcendents were stationed here.

But this has never been confirmed, as such beings rarely reveal themselves to the public. Whether they are Knights or Wizards, all are in pursuit of higher realms of power.

The exception, of course, was Knights who followed the path of Faith. They required positions as Lords to gather the Power of Faith.

Though it might just be a rumor, it was a testament to Nebula City’s prosperity. But trying to find one person in such a massive, bustling commercial hub—a person known only by name...

That was going to be somewhat difficult...

’I hope this High-level Mage, Siwal Itelas, isn’t the type to live incognito...’

With a faint sense of worry, Isaac led Liu Li into the bustling metropolis.

As a commercial city, Nebula City didn’t charge an entrance fee like other cities. The taxes they collected from merchants alone were more than enough to fill their coffers. Besides, they had numerous businesses within the city and were hardly short on cash. They certainly wouldn’t do something so self-sabotaging.

Isaac led Liu Li into the city and they walked along the bustling main avenue. As he looked at the dazzling array of goods on all sides, the strange feeling in Isaac’s eyes grew more intense. He felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity walking down this street, but...

’I’m sure I’ve never been here before, right?’

’This is the first time I’ve ever seen this method of selling everything all mixed together...’

However, when Isaac and Liu Li reached a crossroads in the middle of the street and he saw the equally wide avenues stretching out on either side, he finally understood the source of this familiar yet alien feeling...

’Lake Town!’
