Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 247: Chapter 195: What a Real Mad Witch Is

Now that he had Dimension Apostles as convenient laborers, Isaac had expanded the population of his farmed Demon Rats, successfully multiplying the profits from various Demon Rat materials several times over. Moreover, his business had recently become quite famous.

It wouldn’t be long before he could officially open a shop in Lake Town, and by then, the market for his business in rat materials would be even larger!

He had already observed this; there were no similar shops in the town, which was why his small cabin was flooded with so many purchase requests. After all, this kind of business required a large number of Casters to travel back and forth between the town and the breeding farm, and the profit margin was actually very, very low.

Only someone like Isaac, who had the Dimension Apostles as free labor, could manage such an operation. After all, if anyone else had so many Casters at their disposal, they could make far more money producing Magic Potions, Magic Equipment, or even Demonic Puppets.

Then there were the Dragon Lizards. Compared to the rat materials business based in Lake Town, the breeding and selling of Dragon Lizards had also gotten on track. Just as planned, Isaac was responsible for providing high-quality Dragon Lizard hatchlings and selling them to the Solomon Territory. They, in turn, would raise a portion of them and resell a selection of the finest specimens.

The breeding farms and sales channels over in the Solomon Territory had also been successfully established. Word was that in the Mage Tower of the lady in charge, they had even finished recruiting Mage Apprentices to study Alchemy. Now, they were just waiting on Dragon Lizard materials for them to get some hands-on practice.

Although the income from these two ventures was still quite small—a drop in the bucket compared to his current fortune—it was, as they say, a steady stream. A small but constant flow of income would keep him from simply sitting on his hoard and watching it dwindle.

Besides, everything has a beginning. There are few opportunities in this world for instant success. It didn’t matter if the profits were small now, as long as the ventures had potential.

After reviewing the reports, Isaac pondered for a moment, then rose and went to the top floor of the Mage Tower, the one used for ceremonies. With a flick of his right hand, the Magic Book of the Mad Witch Association appeared. Magic Texts emerged from it one by one and, under Isaac’s control, spread across the floor to form a somewhat complex Magic Array.

CRACKLE~

Once the Magic Array was formed, a bolt of blood-red thunder fell from thin air. A fissure appeared over the array. Isaac paused for a moment, placed his large Wizard Hat on his head, and then stepped through.

The annual grand gathering of the Mad Witches had begun.

Isaac no longer thought much of trading with Mad Witches of the same level. Although Tier Two Mad Witches were already quite skilled, and some were beginning to possess treasures or Knowledge that were even valuable to him...

...it was ultimately... too little.

The Isaac of today was no longer the clueless novice who had just stepped into the Wizarding World. He now had a much clearer understanding of his own standing.

In the current world, he was probably one of the few traditionalists among the Mad Witches. That is, in an Evil God Ceremony, his goal wasn’t to trade, but to take things by force.

Therefore, among Mad Witches of the same tier, there were probably few stronger than him! Or more...

’Well, forget about wealthy. The Outer Gods don’t have money. At least, not on them during the trade.’

So, Isaac no longer attended gatherings for his peers. He might reconsider once he advanced to become a High-level Mage. The gap between High-level Mages was greater than that between a man and a dog. Even he wouldn’t dare claim that he could quickly rise to the top ranks of High-level Mages immediately after his own advancement.

However, Isaac was still very interested in this grand annual gathering. It brought together a great many Mad Witches of all different Levels, and when they all gathered, many fantastic and bizarre ideas were bound to emerge.

’They’re all a bit cowardly in my opinion,’ Isaac thought, ’but that’s a minor flaw. It’s fine as long as they can give me some inspiration.’

For example, he had gained significant insights for his ritual to forcibly awaken the Master of Billions of Flesh from his previous discussions with them.

It was the same this time. He hoped to find some like-minded people here to research with him how to fleece the God of Credit!

Passing through the Teleportation Gate, Isaac once again found himself in the white jade-like plaza, one year later. He had arrived relatively early. Mad Witches were gathered in twos and threes, chatting casually. Others were gathered around the White Jade Pillars, either to trade or to post topics for discussion.

That’s right. Besides trading, the White Jade Pillars could also be used to rally people for discussing certain topics. Most of the seminars started this way; only after a discussion reached a critical mass would passing Mad Witches join in.

Of course, most Mad Witches preferred to rely on the information posted on the White Jade Pillars, as it allowed for a more focused approach.

Isaac thought for a moment, then walked up to a White Jade Pillar and entered his topic: ”Some Conjectures on Increasing the ’Privilege’ Quota.”

In the end, Isaac decided not to state his purpose bluntly. He had been here once before and knew that while the Wizards here seemed insane to outsiders, they were rather timid compared to him. If he was too direct, he worried no one would show up.

’So I’ll just use some clickbait. Lure them in first, then we’ll talk!’

’I refuse to believe no one would be tempted by the juicy prospect of instant-casting Privilege Magic!’

...

”Hm? Research on increasing the ’Privilege’ quota?” A Mad Witch who had just arrived stood by a White Jade Pillar, stunned for a moment as he read the post. ”There are... such proper Wizards here?”

’It has nothing to do with the Outer Gods...’

’Interesting!’

Looking at the title, which stood out like a breath of fresh air amidst a sea of bizarre and insane research topics, the Mad Witch’s lips curled into a creepy smile. He’d seen plenty of Wizards like this before.

’He’s clearly a new Mad Witch,’ the man thought. ’Probably got lucky once, received an invitation, but now he’s too scared to trade with the Outer Gods again. So he’s come here to try his luck.’

This was quite normal. After all, the screening process for the Mad Witch Association wasn’t particularly strict. Anyone who had ever traded with an Outer God could join. The only difficult part was staying a member, because if you went too long without trading with an Outer God, the association’s Magic Book would abandon you.

This rarely happened, though. For one, few Mad Witches could resist the immense profits. For another, the Mad Witch Association was clearly a high-class organization. Many Wizards would deliberately pick weaker Evil Gods to trade with, even if just to maintain their membership.

After some thought, the Wizard clicked on the title and chose to join the discussion.

’I’ll ”help” this newcomer,’ he thought. ’Show him what a real Mad Witch is!’

’This is no place for a proper Wizard!’

At this thought, the Wizard’s lips curled up even further, revealing a faint expression of glee. Oh, how he loved to see the shocked faces of little fledgling Wizards!

The moment the Wizard clicked to join the discussion, the light around him flashed, and he found himself standing atop a White Jade Pillar. A dozen or so other White Jade Pillars floated nearby, but only five or six of them were occupied.

The count was uncertain because, just as he arrived, he saw another Wizard leaving with a foul look on his face.

”Heh~” The Wizard chuckled, a little disappointed. ’I can see a hint of fear on that guy’s face as he leaves. It’s subtle, but it can’t fool me. That must be the newcomer who started the discussion.’

”What a shame. I was looking forward to showing him the world of the Mad Witches~” Shaking his head, the Wizard casually opened the light screen that had materialized in front of him.

This was one of the rules of the White Jade Pillars. To reduce pointless debates, all Wizards who entered a topic seminar were required to contribute an opinion on the subject, even if the person who started it had already left.

So even though his fun was ruined, he still had to finish reading the topic description and offer a suggestion with at least some degree of feasibility. Otherwise, he would face punishment from the White Jade Pillar.

”Let’s see... Hm, ’seeking to increase the storage and advance-draw quota for Privilege.’ Not bad, he even knows Privilege Magic. But that’s not so easy to increase. Let’s see what his plan is... ’Steal the authority of the God of Credit to achieve freedom of Casting’... Huh? That’s a very Mad-Witch-style proposal, so why did he... Wait a minute. The God of Credit?!”

The previously puzzled Wizard’s eyes flew wide open. He checked it again and again, finally confirming that he hadn’t misread it. It was, indeed, the God of Credit!

’Fucking lunatic!’

’That’s a damn True God!’

”Fuck!”

After letting out an involuntary curse, the Wizard exited the seminar, his face grim. As he departed, a barely perceptible trace of fear lingered on his features—a fear reserved for True Gods. After all, the power They could wield in the mortal plane was immense.

This exact scene was witnessed by another Wizard who had just arrived. He chuckled softly and opened the information screen before him...
