Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 208: Chapter 165: Start the War

Angel: ”...”

Looking at the more than two thousand Great Sword Ghosts before her, even though she knew what to expect, she was still utterly shocked when she saw them for real.

Over two thousand Tier Two combatants...

’Is this guy really just a Tier Two Mage?’

’Are all Mad Witches this ridiculous?’

Probably not. Thinking of Philo, who was also a Mad Witch, Angel shook her head. Isaac was the one who was ridiculous.

”Astaros, Time Reincarnation.” With that thought, Angel summoned her Original Scripture. Its magical pages flipped open, and streams of golden Magic Marks flew out. Behind her, a phantom of Astaros appeared to assist her with the Casting.

This was one of the reasons she found Isaac so ridiculous.

In the future she had originally foreseen, the Magic Book she had given him should have been enough for Isaac to use on his own. But when the time actually came, she was shocked to discover that the Magic Book alone was not enough!

’Transcending the future...’

’Probably not.’

As she continued Casting, Angel secretly glanced at Isaac.

’It must be that my control over the Original Scripture is still insufficient. If a Tier Two could transcend the future, then she couldn’t even imagine how absurdly heaven-defying Isaac must be!’

Meanwhile, the Astaros behind Angel narrowed his eyes at the Great Sword Demons before them. There was no mistaking it; these were no ordinary Witchcraft Creations. Within them, he smelled the scent of two old friends!

Unfortunately, that was as far as it went. He only knew that he recognized these two, but not who they were specifically.

The reason why even a Demon like him, whose power was comparable to a Deity’s, couldn’t see through it all traced back to the origins of the Mad Witches.

The earliest Mad Witches drew their inspiration from the first trading rituals—that is, trading with Outer Gods to obtain extraordinary power. But as everyone knows, the Outer Gods are all rotten to the core. How could they possibly be easy to deal with?

Wizards often died during these trades.

Then, some genius—no one knows who—came up with an idea: since the trades were so risky, why not go for one big gamble?

Go all in!

And so, the most frenzied era of the Mad Witches began!

The Mad Witches of that era relied entirely on sheer madness to trade with the Outer Gods!

Of course, most Mad Witches died horribly, their bodies and souls devoured until not even a scrap remained. But the world is a vast and strange place, and there are always a few outliers who manage to stand out.

And though these successful cases were extremely rare, they greatly inspired the Legendary Mages of the time, who had neither status nor power. Thus, an even more fanatical Mad Witch craze arrived.

But to this day, with the exception of a few Mad Witches with special talents, the vast majority are simply gambling with their lives, going all in with everything they have!

(Though it’s not like they had much to begin with.)

What truly made the gods themselves take notice of the Mad Witches was the appearance of a power called the [Gate of Legends]. This was a power created for the Mad Witches by a great Existence so terrifying that even the Outer Gods trembled before it.

Its ability was simple at first: an absolute principle of trade—that after a transaction was complete, the Outer God could not, by any means, discover the identity of the Wizard who made the trade.

In other words, it banned the Outer Gods’ doxxing function.

So why say ”at first”?

Because any ability of a Legendary Mage is tied to their fame and influence. The thing grows over time!

And this proved to be true. With the help of the [Gate of Legends], one Mad Witch after another survived their trades with the Outer Gods. At the same time, the [Gate of Legends] grew stronger thanks to the ever-more-powerful Mad Witches, eventually even being able to tamper with the trades and help the Mad Witches cheat!

It was a classic case of pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps and ascending on the spot.

However, the Gate of Legends was both their blessing and their curse. Perhaps due to increasingly stable lives and higher social status, the Mad Witches’ ambition gradually waned.

Today, the current Mad Witches are content with merely trading with Outer Gods, completely lacking the insane drive of the ancient Mad Witches who would bet everything and go all in.

Of course, the guy in front of him was an exception...

Astaros glanced at Isaac, quickly assisted Angel with her Casting, and then his form vanished on the spot.

”Sorry, He, uh... kind of hates Mad Witches,” Angel said, shrugging helplessly at Isaac.

Isaac nodded, understanding perfectly. After all, the guy had half of his essence stolen by Mad Witches. Still, he couldn’t figure out why such a powerhouse would act as Angel’s Servant Demon. Even if it was just a projection of a projection, the Demon’s standing was undeniable.

Even with half of his Authority stolen, he still held the scepter of time, making him one of the most powerful Demons.

To this, Astaros just wanted to say, ’What do you think, you great Mad Witch?’

Among the many powers in the world, the powers of time and space are undoubtedly the most coveted, and the Mad Witches are no exception.

Thus, he, a Demon who commanded the Authorities of both time and space, fell into the sights of the Mad Witches...

Years ago, his Spatial Authority was completely stolen. Now, though he was holding on relatively securely thanks to the unique nature of his Temporal Authority...

...He knew that if things continued like this, he would sooner or later go down the same old road!

And lose his Temporal Authority as well!

But just then, Angel appeared in the world, bearing the Original Scripture!

The Original Scripture, the power of a Witch of the highest echelon!

And it was an Original Scripture of the Time System, no less.

Furthermore, although it was also a form of Temporal Authority, Angel’s Original Scripture—the Chronicles of Time—possessed the heaven-defying power to alter the past. And it was at that moment that he finally understood why he had never been able to truly master the power to change the past himself!
