Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 207: Chapter 164: Noel: What? A Mad Witch from the Terra Empire? That’s a Different Story (Part 2)

BOOM!

A pillar of crimson light shot toward the heavens!

It pierced through the castle roof and, under the grave gazes of Philo and Angel, shot straight toward the Magic Barrier enveloping the entire Itra Kingdom!

Although the skyward pillar of blood-red light caught the attention of every Transcendent in the Itra Kingdom, its contact with the Magic Barrier was surprisingly quiet. It vanished without a sound, and the Barrier itself remained intact.

This left the various Wizards from different kingdoms, who had been on alert, feeling bewildered. They couldn’t comprehend the meaning behind this act.

’Did it fail?’

’Or was it something else?’

”Wait! Something’s wrong! Our Barrier has been modified!”

In a hidden space, just as the Wizards from various kingdoms were feeling puzzled, the few Arcanists inspecting the Barrier suddenly cried out in alarm. In an instant, the small space erupted into a cacophony.

”Silence!” Above the crowd of Wizards, four High-level Mages sat loftily upon their thrones. The one in the lead gently tapped the table, casually casting a Silence Spell that instantly quieted the entire space.

Having done this, he turned to the Arcanists who had been inspecting the Barrier. With a wave of his finger, he asked in a deep voice, ”Don’t panic. Speak slowly. What function of the Barrier has been modified?”

”The Barrier... the Barrier has been given the ability to collect the energy of souls and flesh! Now, anywhere within the Itra Kingdom, the bodies and souls of all the dead will be converted into energy, collected by the Barrier, and transported to the castle. At the same time...” The Arcanist paused for a moment before continuing, ”At the same time, the other party also took the liberty of strengthening our Barrier, making it impossible for external forces to interfere with it now!”

Everyone was speechless.

’Are you sure they’re *helping* us? And not just afraid someone will intercept the energy they’re collecting?’

The crowd’s expressions were strange. The lead Wizard glanced at the location where the crimson pillar had risen. Although the Barrier had no surveillance function, they knew the assigned location of every participant, so they could tell at a glance who was responsible.

Thus, he and the other two High-level Mages turned in unison to look at the smiling Mensa Ballos.

”Roton Fortress... This wasn’t the work of your Eldest Princess, was it?”

”I don’t think so.” Facing the gazes of his three colleagues, Mensa’s expression remained unchanged. He said with a smile, ”From what I know of the Eldest Princess, she has neither the ability nor the nerve to pull off something this big. However, it was indeed done by someone on our side.”

”Doesn’t this break the rules? Using our Barrier to collect energy for a deal with an Outer God? Heh... Truly a Mad Witch. They’ve certainly got guts!” a nearby Wizard in white robes sneered, looking at Mensa with hostility.

The four of them present each represented the power behind them. So, while the conflict below didn’t involve their personal interests, it did affect the interests of their respective factions. They didn’t care if other factions suffered losses, but Isaac’s move was a clear attempt to take the whole pie for himself, and that was something he couldn’t tolerate!

Even though he couldn’t defeat Mensa, that didn’t stop him from being defiant!

’And even if I can’t beat him, can’t the others?’

Isaac’s selfish behavior would surely be condemned by everyone!

”Yes, this is indeed...” The last one, a Black-robed Mage, was about to chime in and help confront Mensa when he suddenly had a realization. He turned his head to the White-robed Mage. ”What did you say? That kid is a Mad Witch?”

”Of course. What else could it be? Who but a Mad Witch would have such audacity!”

”The Terra Empire... a Mad Witch...” the Black-robed Mage muttered to himself. Then, his tone suddenly shifted, and he said solemnly, ”I don’t see anything wrong with this! Our pre-established rules never said this wasn’t allowed!”

”Wh... Huh?” The White-robed Mage snapped his head around, joining the lead Wizard in staring dumbfoundedly at the righteous-looking Black-robed Mage.

”Are you out of your mind? You’re not actually treating that kid as one of your Flesh Sect’s own, are you?” The White-robed Mage’s eyes widened.

The lead Wizard, however, glanced at the perfectly composed Mensa, flipped through the documents in his hand, and frowned slightly. ”That one named Isaac, he only just joined your Flesh Sect, right? Why do you value him so highly?”

”Heh heh... It’s a competition of skill. A loss is a loss. I’m sure those other kids from my Sect will accept it,” the Black-robed Mage said cheerfully.

In a world where ultimate power belongs to the individual, funneling all resources into a single genius was the most efficient investment!

Besides, while Isaac hoarding all the gains meant the other kids in the Sect would get nothing, it also meant the other factions would get nothing. All in all, the Flesh Sect was making out like a bandit!

Soon, the White-robed Mage also figured this out. He opened his mouth, looked at the Black-robed Mage, then at Mensa, and finally turned to the lead Wizard. ”Aren’t you going to do anything either?”

There was nothing he could do. He couldn’t defeat Mensa or the Black-robed Mage, so he couldn’t bring himself to object any further.

The lead Wizard also had a helpless look on his face. He could defeat both of them, but...

”Noel is right. He hasn’t broken any rules. Being able to utilize our Barrier is a testament to his own ability.”

After speaking, he ignored the dumbstruck White-robed Mage and looked down at the documents he had long since memorized.

’There’s no other choice. Of course I can defeat Mensa and Noel. I could beat them even if they teamed up!’

’But there’s no need. Behind those two are the Terra Empire and the Flesh Sect. Neither is to be trifled with.’

’Of course, the most important thing is that my faction is a bit more... righteous than the Terra Empire and the Flesh Sect. Our people won’t participate in the blood sacrifice; they’re simply here for the rewards in the treasury.’

’In fact, there are quite a few people like that. After all, the Itra Kingdom now has a considerable amount of renewable precious resources. One could say its transformation has been quite successful!’

’So, since it doesn’t affect my side’s interests, why not do them a favor?’

’Is there any problem with using someone else’s tab to build my own connections?’

’No problem at all!’

Meanwhile, Isaac was unaware that he had caused a small squabble outside the Kingdom. After the ritual successfully connected to the Barrier, he needed to proceed to the next step: linking the ritual’s energy transmission channel to his Dimension World!

This step wasn’t difficult, just rather troublesome, as it required him to open the exit to his Dimension World and temporarily fix it in this location.

There were no technical hurdles. With the Flesh Gemstone acting as a medium, the connection wouldn’t have any impact on the Dimension either.

The only issue was that after establishing the connection, he wouldn’t be able to open the Dimension World again until the day of the ritual. He also wouldn’t be able to use his Infinite Magic Power. Fortunately, his Secret Techniques were unaffected.

At the same time, he needed to release the Great Sword Ghosts before making the connection.

Two thousand Great Sword Ghosts. For this War, they were an overwhelming force!

Fortunately, all sides were still in the preparation phase and had not officially entered the War yet. For the moment, he didn’t need to worry about energy storage issues; he still had some time.

But as the old saying goes, the best-laid plans often go awry. To prepare for this possibility, Isaac planned to summon the Great Sword Ghosts first and then complete the connection immediately.

This way, no matter what unexpected event occurred, he would be able to handle it. In a word—stability!

But before all that, he needed to find Angel.

His Great Sword Ghosts were created through Magic. Even without any modifications, the time they could remain manifested was limited. Previously, he had only faced short battles, after which they would revert directly back into plasma energy for storage.

But this time was different. Even if they went all out with their Firepower, the War wouldn’t be over in ten days or half a month. Moreover, to milk the situation for all it was worth, they couldn’t go all out. It would be best to get into a stalemate and let everyone rack up points together!

Because the Artificial Human armies, once expended, could be redeemed for more!

But in that case, the manifestation time for the Great Sword Ghosts would be far from sufficient. Therefore, to ensure the Great Sword Ghost Legion could last through the entire War, he needed Angel’s Time Magic to extend their duration.
