Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 205: Chapter 163: 3-Part Convergence Qi

Lorna watched the silent, terrifying scene, and a sudden chill ran through her. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she had the distinct feeling that the mechanical claw above Philo’s head was alive!

Even though it was a Mechanical Body, it felt like a creature of flesh and blood!

And...

It also gave her a revolting feeling!

As if she had encountered a natural enemy!

This strange sensation made Lorna unwilling to linger. She hurried toward the castle. She had many questions for Isaac, especially about that feeling of encountering a natural enemy that the silver mechanical claw had given her!

Any intuition a Transcendent has should be taken seriously.

That was a lesson learned in blood.

Moreover, she was unsettled by the current situation in the fortress. It wasn’t just her; Aein couldn’t bear to watch either and had already slipped into a random dream, leaving Lorna’s shoulder.

After a glance at Lorna’s departing figure, Philo quickly retracted her gaze. She focused on Casting her Magic, continuously applying the Faith Steel Seal to the people.

...

”Oh? She’s cultivating Believers?” Inside the castle, Isaac, who was arranging ritual materials with Harmon, turned his head in surprise. ”It seems she’s finally found a way forward. A Divine Apostle? That’s not a bad idea.”

”You don’t seem surprised?” Lorna asked, taken aback.

Isaac smiled faintly and briefly recounted what had happened in Philis Town. Only then did Lorna understand the grudge between them. However...

”Using Magic to manufacture Faith... isn’t that against the rules? I was once scavenging for an adventurer’s party when an old Adventurer told me that a Deity’s Faith must be pure. It must come from the Believers’ own heartfelt desires, without any interference from Extraordinary Power. Otherwise, impure Faith will cause the Deity to fall into depravity.”

”This is one of the reasons why Evil Gods often favor blood sacrifices and their power becomes twisted. Isn’t she afraid of that?”

”You’re right. True Gods indeed will not and cannot accept impure Faith.” Facing Lorna’s confusion, Isaac first nodded, then said, ”But it’s only True Gods who won’t accept it. Philo only wants the Path of the Gods. The Concept contained within is her true goal.”

”Concept?” Lorna scratched her head. Clearly, her limited Knowledge was insufficient to grasp what Isaac meant.

In truth, this wasn’t Lorna’s fault. In the current Wizarding World, forget Witches, even most Arcanists might not know about ”Concept” as an extremely special Casting material.

”How should I put this?” Isaac thought for a moment, put away the materials in his hands, and then stood up to explain to Lorna. ”’Concept’... you can think of it simply as a type of Casting material frequently used by Legendary Mages.”

”So what does it mean that Philo only wants the Concept within the Path of the Gods? Doesn’t she want the Power of Faith?”

”Well... the Power of Faith is divided into three types. Did you know that?” Since the topic had come up, Isaac decided to give Lorna a proper lesson. After all, for a Caster to be so lacking in the chest department, and also so lacking in Knowledge... that was just a bit unreasonable.

”I know this one. They are ’Faith’ which Deities need, ’Observation’ which Legendary Mages need, and ’Existence’ which Knights need.”

”Very good. So, Philo’s actions are actually quite simple. As a Legendary Mage, she already possesses ’Observation’. What she’s doing now is extracting the Concept of ’Faith’ from the Path of the Gods. If I’m not mistaken, she’ll probably absorb ’Existence’ from the Path of the Knight later on to fuse all three types of Power of Faith. As for what she specifically plans to do with that, I have no idea.”

Isaac spread his hands. It wasn’t that no Wizard had ever tried to unify the three types of Power of Faith before. The Path of the Knight was able to develop to its current state partly due to the exploration of this very road.

It’s just that no one has ever succeeded. There have been those who managed to combine two of them, and they all earned great renown, leaving a deep and colorful mark on the pages of history.

Unfortunately, that mark was too deep. In their later years, they both abandoned the power of a Wizard. One became the God of Truth and joined the ranks of the True Gods—the current Truth Association developed from his Truth Church. The other became the Wizard King and was annihilated along with his dynasty in the annals of history.

However, although neither of them made it to the end, it doesn’t mean the path is wrong. After all, those two only managed two paths, not three. So, what Philo’s future holds is really hard to say.

”Oh, so that’s why she wants to seize the nation of Itra! The lives of the citizens here are too hard, so even without using Magic, she can easily spread her Faith. At the same time, as the Queen of this nation, she can also acquire the Power of Faith from ’Existence’!” Lorna said, realization dawning on her.

”Yes, that’s exactly it.” Isaac nodded in agreement. Even in his eyes, the plan was quite perfect.

The environment in Itra is just too suitable. After all, religious faith is actually very difficult to spread, especially when the object of faith isn’t a proper God and lacks a God’s divine might.

But the citizens of Itra have suffered too much, so they are desperate for Faith!

After all, people with Faith can truly endure hardship!

In his past life, Isaac had already witnessed this point. That country across the great ocean, whose people always held freedom as their banner, had guns and cannons aplenty. Yet, even when things got that shitty, they still hadn’t rebelled!

It was truly astounding.

So, for now, Isaac was quite optimistic about Philo’s plan. Of course, that was limited to the present. A Legendary Mage only has one closely bonded Magic Pet. She used the Divine Hand to occupy the Path of the Gods, so how does she plan to proceed with the Path of the Knight?

Magic and Martial Dual Cultivation is no easy feat. Leaving aside the issue of talent, the allocation of time and energy alone is far from sufficient.

While a Legendary Mage may not prioritize Knowledge as much as an Arcanist, it’s impossible to go far on that path without sufficient Knowledge. The same goes for a Knight. You can become a Great Knight just by chugging potions.

But to become a High-level Knight, if you don’t have enough combat experience, if your physical body isn’t tempered to perfection, and if your understanding of the Authority Law is insufficient, you can’t possibly break through!

And any one of those three points requires an enormous amount of time and energy!

So, all in all, while Isaac was looking forward to seeing what Philo would do, he wasn’t optimistic about her chances.

”Then what’s the deal with her Magic Pet? Why did I get that feeling? HISS~” At the mention of Philo’s Magic Pet, Lorna drew a sharp breath. She had been away from it for a while now, but just talking about it still made her heart pound with fear.

But at this mention, Isaac’s expression turned a bit strange...

’Because if I remember correctly,’ he thought, ’Philo’s Magic Pet is... tentacles...’
