Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 220: Chapter 175: Philo: Something’s Wrong! There’s a Problem

The Master of the Eternal Secret Star was a high-quality client.

’Unfortunately, he’s just not cost-effective—not nearly as good as my old friend, the Master of Billions of Flesh. Even for a Tier Two ritual, the materials required would be difficult for even me to gather right now.’

’The cost is secondary. The main issue is the sheer quantity. There are only a few factions that can provide so many Energy Cores, and that stuff is considered semi-military material. Bulk transactions are regulated; you can’t just buy it with money.’

’But no matter how hard it is, I have to gather them!’

’The [Analysis] Authority is the best and most suitable Authority for a Wizard!’

’I can’t let this prize get away!’

”How did it go? Were you successful?” Philo, who was standing to the side, couldn’t help but ask worriedly when she saw Isaac standing motionless for a long time.

At first, her heart, which had been in her throat, finally settled when she saw Isaac safely conclude the ritual. Although she was a bit annoyed at being outdone by Isaac again, such a minor feeling was obviously nothing compared to her and the Empire’s grand plan.

But seeing him stand there without moving for so long, her heart was back in her throat. The plan had been set up to this point; if Isaac fell, she didn’t have the ability to push it forward herself!

Putting other things aside, she wasn’t even sure she could handle the transaction with the Master of Billions of Flesh. That being was currently in a state of Divine Sleep and couldn’t be easily awakened.

And if she did wake him...

...his temper upon waking was not easy to deal with...

It was a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t situation.

Only Isaac could stabilize the current situation and smoothly advance their plan, so he absolutely could not have anything happen to him!

Fortunately, Isaac was merely organizing his gains and hadn’t run into any trouble. So, upon hearing Philo’s question, he immediately turned around, smiled, and nodded.

Seeing this, Philo’s anxious heart finally settled completely.

”Well, want to try it out?” As she spoke, Philo casually flicked out a streak of light, and a silvery-white Knight Demonic Puppet appeared before Isaac.

Isaac raised an eyebrow, giving Philo a surprised look. ’As expected of the Eldest Princess,’ he thought, ’casually tossing out a Tier Two Demonic Puppet, and one with the worst cost-effectiveness at that.’

Of course, cost-effectiveness never equated to strength.

The Silver Knight, a Tier Two Upper Demonic Puppet, was forged entirely from Mithril, giving it extremely high Magic Power conductivity. This unconventional method achieved an absurdly high Magic Resistance of up to ninety-eight percent!

It could be said that the vast majority of Magic was ineffective against it. At the same time, due to its high Magic Power conductivity, the Enchantment bonuses on a Silver Knight were also quite outstanding, making both its defensive and offensive capabilities excellent.

So, what was the price?

Expensive!

Extremely expensive!

The cost of one of these things was equivalent to two or three Obsidian Golems!

But while it was pricey, its power was also quite... trash!

Although it was the strongest among Tier Two Demonic Puppets, its cost was high enough that with a little more, you could get a Tier Three one. Therefore, very few people bothered with this thing.

Of course, that wasn’t to say it was completely useless. This thing was very useful in places with Tier restrictions.

Take the Itra Kingdom for example. Beings of Tier Three and above were forbidden from interfering, and this included things like Demonic Puppets and Golems. This was why an expensive item with such low cost-effectiveness like the Silver Knight had a market.

However, Isaac hadn’t expected Philo to bring one of these. After all, like her older sister, she was a Wizard who specialized in Alchemy—specifically in mechanical constructs. She could control far more Demonic Puppets and Golems than an ordinary Wizard.

’There’s no need to bring a piece of junk like the Silver Knight. No matter how strong a Silver Knight is, isn’t it just cannon fodder against ten ordinary Tier Two Demonic Puppets?’

Of course, if she brought an entire squad of Silver Knights, that would be a different story.

’But the cost would be staggering. Philo can’t be that much of a sucker... right?’

Thinking of this, Isaac fell silent and glanced at Philo. ’Not necessarily... This woman really does have the superpower of money!’

’And a very strong superpower at that!’

’She might even have a Tier Three Demonic Puppet or Golem!’

’And be able to use it normally!’

At this thought, Isaac glanced at Philo again, making a mental note of her.

Because it wasn’t impossible. Back during the Divine Lamp Trial, Philo was only Tier One and already possessed the legendary Infinite Demon God Armor. Although it was only a fragment, it was enough to prove the importance the Terra Royal Family placed on her.

Now that she had entered Tier Two and had the ability to control Tier Three Golems or Demonic Puppets, there was no reason they wouldn’t give her one.

But speaking of the Infinite Demon God Armor, Isaac couldn’t help but rub his chin. He had acquired that thing a long time ago, but he had never really figured out how to use it. Just putting it on directly... well, it was possible, but he still felt uneasy, worried about some hidden danger.

But now that he had the [Analysis] Authority, it was worth a try.

”Hey...” Seeing Isaac’s mind wander again, Philo called out with a sigh of resignation.

”Oh, oh! Sorry, I was just thinking about something.” Isaac shook his head, casting aside the stray thoughts. Neither the Infinite Demon God Armor nor Philo’s true combat strength were issues he needed to consider right now. Figuring them out wouldn’t help him much at the moment anyway; it was better to focus on the task at hand.

With that thought, Harmon emerged from the back of Isaac’s neck at his command. Its five claws spread open, and a menacing eye split open in its palm. Wisps of magical light gathered before the Demon Claw’s eye, gradually weaving into the shape of a heart.

Special abilities or Magic obtained by a Mad Witch through a deal with an Outer God would all transform into the Wizard’s own Talent Witchcraft. Both their potential and Casting difficulty would be significantly optimized.

However, very few Mad Witches actually did this. After all, no matter how you looked at it, this was power that came directly from an Outer God. Even with the Gate of Legends as a guarantee, it was still an Outer God’s power. What if there was a hidden catch?

Who could say for sure?

So even though directly trading for special abilities or Magic was highly cost-effective, Mad Witches still preferred to trade for Forbidden Knowledge or Authorities.

This included Isaac himself. Even with his Golden Finger, he wasn’t fond of directly acquiring abilities or Magic from Outer Gods. No matter what, it was always better to be cautious.

With Harmon’s assistance, Isaac’s Casting speed was very fast. In the blink of an eye, a heart wrapped in eerie blue flames took shape. Harmon gently pinched it with two claws and then pressed it into the Silver Knight’s chest.

THUMP-THUMP~

In an instant, everyone seemed to hear a heartbeat. A faint, eerie blue glow throbbed within the Silver Knight’s chest cavity. The next moment, the eerie blue Flame erupted, engulfing the entire Silver Knight!

At the same time, lines of eerie blue light slowly spread from the Silver Knight’s chest across its entire body, like circuits.

When the eerie blue circuits covered the Silver Knight’s whole body, the magical Flame enveloping it abruptly contracted. Part of it sank into the Energy Core in the Silver Knight’s chest, while another part remained in its eyes. The eerie blue circuit patterns then faded from sight.

At the same time, a strange sensation emanated from the Silver Knight. They felt that this thing... seemed to have come to life...

”Thank you, Master, for granting me life!” Suddenly, the Silver Knight knelt on one knee before Isaac, balled its right hand into a fist, struck its chest, and declared loudly.

Hearing this, everyone turned to look at the dark-faced Philo.

Isaac couldn’t help but awkwardly rub his nose. ’Seems like something’s not quite right here!’
