Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3051: Chapter 3052: Reckless

The avatar of Speedy was placed inside the substitute item, and Witch Sharon was very clear about it.

She wasn’t a fool, nor did she have memory issues; she hadn’t noticed the dissipating Speedy avatar simply because her attention wasn’t on these details.

As long as she diverted a bit of her focus to observe her surroundings, she would naturally discover that the wisps of breeze escaping from the substitute item had all disappeared.

So, Dox’s performance was to capture Witch Sharon’s attention, blurring the true focus.

Only by making Witch Sharon lock her gaze on him could the ”irrelevant details” be temporarily set aside. It was only under these conditions that Dox could continue to deceive Witch Sharon into using the Substitute Technique.

But even so, getting Witch Sharon to continuously focus on him wasn’t an easy task.

Dox estimated himself that, at most, there would be one or two more chances before Witch Sharon would realize the Speedy avatar had vanished.

By then, it would be basically impossible for him to trick Witch Sharon into using the Substitute Technique again.

However, given the limitations of the Substitute Technique, Witch Sharon could use it only one or two more times herself, so even if discovered afterward, it wouldn’t matter.

Dox, after ”acting” out a prophecy for quite some time, finally had some breakthrough just as Witch Sharon was about to lose patience and gather spell power.

Dox suddenly opened his eyes and swiftly turned his head to the direction marked by the green arrow.

”In this direction! You can’t escape!” Dox shouted loudly and began crazily slashing towards the direction he was looking.

The direction Dox was slashing was certainly correct. But his gaze wasn’t actually focused on Witch Sharon... this was also part of his act.

Anyway, slashing would force Witch Sharon to reveal herself.

When Witch Sharon saw Dox’s slash, she wasn’t too nervous; instead, she let out a sigh of relief... Dox, being a Prophet Wizard, finding her through Divination was too normal. So, she was already prepared to be discovered.

Since it was highly likely she would be found, Witch Sharon naturally wasn’t too concerned about it. More than these, she was actually more interested in whether Dox’s Divination had any limitations.

Currently, there seemed to be no apparent limitations. But fortunately, it took Dox quite a long time to prepare for the Divination.

This left her with plenty of room to maneuver.

Next time, if Dox continued to use Divination, she was 100% sure that she could condense the Light Air Shield in the period he prepared for the Divination!

Since Witch Sharon already set her sights on the ”next time,” naturally she didn’t pay much attention to ”this time.” Even if she had other ways to dodge the slash, she didn’t use them; instead, in line with the original plan, she used the Substitute Technique to re-enter concealment.

Soon, Dox also slashed the third substitute item apart with one swing.

In Dox’s vision, a green pattern flashed, and new information appeared—

”Current Speedy avatar recovery progress: 3/6”

”Well done! However, from now on, she might not be so easily fooled.”

”Oh, right, substitute items are usually kept close. I’ve been using Illusion Technique to observe her with Earl Mi, and I found that each time she uses the Substitute Technique, the energy fluctuation comes from her upper body, so it’s very likely she’s hiding the substitute item somewhere on her upper body.”

”Her cloak should be directly made from the skin of some magical creature. It’s very high grade and has concealment effects against detection.”

”If possible, it would be best to find a way to take off her cloak... or damage it.”

After quickly scanning through this information, Dox immediately understood Angel’s intention.

Angel clearly also realized that continuing to trick Witch Sharon into using the Substitute Technique through deceit was unlikely to be successful. So, he planned to take direct action.

As long as they could determine where Witch Sharon was hiding the substitute item, they would directly move in to take it.

”If we were planning to just take it from the beginning, why did I have to go through all that acting...” Dox muttered to himself.

However, mutterings aside, Dox understood Angel’s thinking.

Direct action involves risk. If successful, it would be a grand celebration for all; if it failed, there would be nothing left.

Therefore, before taking direct action, obtaining a few more wisps of the Speedy avatar would be the solution that maximizes benefits.

Even if direct action fails afterward, at least they wouldn’t end up with nothing.

Now that the plan for direct action has been established, Dox no longer acts; he intends to make another bold move before Witch Sharon figures out their purpose.

His first step was ”deception”; the second step was ”acting.”

And now, he was entering the third step, which was—”recklessness”!

After slashing through the substitute item, almost without any hesitation, Dox immediately looked at the new green arrow marked by Angel.

Re-locking onto Witch Sharon’s position.

This time, Dox didn’t act; he directly transformed into blood light, like an arrow shot from a bowstring, rushing straight towards Witch Sharon’s hidden location!

On the other side, Witch Sharon had just evaded Dox’s slash, moving to another side of the arena. She was still contemplating, planning to seize the opportunity while Dox used Divination to quickly complete the construction of Space Sorcery.

Just as she was delighting in her thoughts, she suddenly felt something was wrong.

Her back felt cold, sweat dripped by her temples, her soul trembled to the core. It was as if a mortal danger was imminent, about to descend upon her.

Could it be that Angel made a move?

No, that’s not right. She had previously devoted a bit of attention specifically to monitor Angel. Based on the feedback received, she was very sure Angel was lingering near the Space Gate and wasn’t focusing on her side.

If it wasn’t Angel taking action, then why did she feel an unparalleled threat?

With caution, Witch Sharon raised her head and looked around. What she saw shocked her.

Not knowing when Dox had already lunged towards her with his sword, nearly at her face! The crimson blade flashed with terrifying blood light!

Without a doubt, if she didn’t evade, she would surely be pierced in the next second, if not killed, then grievously harmed!

In this life-or-death moment, Witch Sharon couldn’t think too much; she used the Substitute Technique again without hesitation.

At the critical moment, the Substitute Technique was finally unleashed, and her substitute item was severed by Dox’s sword.

However, even though the Substitute Technique had been released, Witch Sharon wasn’t completely unharmed. Dox’s speed was too fast, and he had locked onto her position very precisely, making it nearly impossible to completely evade. At the crucial moment, Witch Sharon just slightly shifted her body to avoid a fatal blow.

Yet, her shoulder still had a deep wound, exposing the bone.

Moreover, her cloak was slashed from one shoulder to the other side of her waist.

It’s important to note, the cloak she was wearing was made from the skin of a Void Serpent. Though not known for its defense, it wasn’t easy to damage. Previously, when battling Elder Moon, multiple attacks landed on the cloak without leaving any mark, which illustrates its sturdiness.

Yet now, with just one slash, Dox had damaged this precious magical creature’s skin, which highlighted just how sharp Dox’s attack was.

Even among the Bloodline Wizards, they are definitely the top tier.

Can an ordinary dual-element Wizard simultaneously excel in Prophecy and Bloodline Art, reaching the pinnacle in both?

A trace of doubt flashed through Witch Sharon’s mind, but she quickly dismissed it. Whether Dox is a dual-element Wizard or a single-element Wizard is not important at this moment.

To her, the most important thing right now is...

”Have you always been able to find me?” After Sharon used the Substitute Technique this time, she did not conceal her form but stood on one side of the arena, looking at Dox.

Dox did not immediately respond but glanced at the green pattern information in his view.

”Current speedy avatar recovery progress: 4/6”

Great, only two avatars left. Even if they can’t be found, the damage to the Speedy won’t be too severe.

After nodding to himself, Dox raised his eyes to look at Witch Sharon.

”My Prophecy is not as simple as you think.”

Dox did not directly answer Witch Sharon, but the implication was a tacit admission that he could use Prophecy to locate Witch Sharon.

Witch Sharon frowned: ”So, you’ve been messing with me all along?”

Dox smiled slightly: ”You guess.”

Once the words fell, Dox didn’t wait for Witch Sharon to continue speaking and once more transformed into red light, rushing at Witch Sharon.

This time, Witch Sharon did not use the Substitute Technique again... She actually hadn’t noticed the matter of the Speedy avatar, purely because the Substitute Technique was used four times in succession and had reached its limit.

If she uses the Substitute Technique again, the substitute can no longer fully prevent damage and will backfire.

Without the Substitute Technique, facing the fierce attack, Witch Sharon could only rely on rapid movement and constant spatial shifts, using the previously arranged space rifts to obstruct Dox’s steps.

Dox felt a slight regret seeing Witch Sharon no longer using the Substitute Technique.

However, he did not let Witch Sharon off because of that, even speeding up as if intending to annihilate Witch Sharon.

The reason for doing this was entirely due to, in his view, Witch Sharon’s head still having a constantly changing line of green glowing text.

”Substitute object data being collected... Current progress 80%, 81%, 82%...”

”Substitute object position being located... Current progress 34%, 35%...”

”Continuous aggression, exposing more information, can accelerate progress deduction.”

The change in progress was directly data-fied by Angel and displayed in Dox’s view. Although Dox also didn’t understand how Angel quantified this progress with data, since Angel asked him to keep attacking, then he fought.

After all, the current battle was already under his control.

Once he grasped the battle tempo, even if he fell under the Blood Curse, he still pressed Witch Sharon firmly.

It had been a long time since Dox had encountered a situation where he could easily grasp the battle tempo... Grasping the battle tempo was not all about strength overwhelming; a larger part was information gathering.

It must be said that Angel’s peculiar ”view” provided considerable assistance in this.

The information analysis provided by the green pattern subtitles widened the information gap between him and Witch Sharon, which was the real reason he could easily control the battle situation.

Just like now, although Witch Sharon relied on spatial rifts to block his steps; actually... that was also him intentionally letting it slip, not just letting a ”sea” slip.

Because Witch Sharon’s movement path was already marked by Angel with a green cursor, where she might go the next second was entirely under Dox’s observation.

”There are three space rifts on the left; there’s a 71% probability she’ll go this way.”

”There’s one space rift on the right, very close, but there are no subsequent rifts to follow; there’s a 30% probability she’ll go this way. But if you approach with a burst of blood gas at this moment, the probability of going in this direction will rise to 80%.”

”...”

This type of information was almost entirely under Dox’s control. Of course, there was little textual information, mainly marking the probability of moving in different directions.

Although it couldn’t reach 100% prediction, such high-density information output made the information gap between him and Witch Sharon widen even more.

If he really wanted to inflict harm on Witch Sharon, he could actually strike her down in a short time.

It’s just, there’s no need.

Because even if it causes severe damage, it can’t kill her. Dox knows this very well.

If a Space Mage really wants to escape, Dox can’t catch up with her. She hasn’t chosen to escape simply because she’s waiting for her companion to arrive.

This is why Angel didn’t choose to join Dox in action. If Angel really got involved, Witch Sharon would know she couldn’t handle two Wizards simultaneously and would have fled early on.

The current situation was very good; Witch Sharon could see ”hope” and wouldn’t flee; whereas Dox adequately applied pressure, allowing Witch Sharon to expose more information for Angel to analyze.

According to the current analysis progress, it shouldn’t be long before the location of the substitute is deduced.

Then just snatch it directly.

However, even though their situation seemed favorable now, it wasn’t without crisis.

If Witch Sharon’s companion returns before their analysis progress is complete, then the battle situation will immediately change.

Not to mention her unknown companion; just the Shallow Sea Strongman alone isn’t something Dox and Angel can handle singly. Therefore, they are taking a certain risk.

But then again, Dox didn’t care much about her companions. Just like they couldn’t stop Witch Sharon, similarly, if they wanted to escape, Witch Sharon couldn’t stop them.

Moreover, Witch Sharon and her companion caused such a big fuss at Bilun Tree Court; even if they gather, they wouldn’t have time to run, much less dare stay behind?

Of course, if the space sealing outside Paradise Land were in place, perhaps Witch Sharon and her companion would have had time to choose to fight it out with them, but without the space sealing outside Paradise Land, and with the Wizards of the Birlos Family rushing over, they would surely choose to escape quickly.

Unless... Witch Sharon’s companion is strong enough to surpass the limit, capable of suppressing all the Wizards present single-handedly, then they might choose to stay.

But, is that possible?

It’s practically impossible.

If her companion was really strong enough to surpass the limit, they could attack Bilun Tree Court at any moment; why choose the day when the Birlos Family’s guard is vacant to attack?

So, overall, Dox is still very relaxed.

If Angel’s information gathering progress could be a bit faster, that would be even better.
