Chapter 3073: Chapter 3074: Book of Fishing

When Angel returned to the buffer zone, Laplace came along as well.

She sat silently on the sofa in the buffer zone in front of Angel, put on the log-in device, and directly entered the Wilderness of Dreams.

Judging by the constancy of offline-online positions, Laplace is most likely fishing again.

It seems that she won’t stop until she catches a fish.

Angel quietly marveled at the magic power of fishing in his heart, then turned around, left the mirror, and returned to reality.

After Angel returned to the quiet room, he sat at the desk, took out a pen and ink, and a handbook to record his observations, and transcribed some time-related memories that Laplace had mentioned earlier.

He was both documenting and using this to sort out his thoughts.

The abilities of the time series merely lifted a curtain, and the scenery he glimpsed might be less than a tenth of one, yet it filled him with curiosity and awe.

After transcribing, Angel closed his eyes and pondered deeply in the quiet room for a full half an hour, letting his restless heart return to calmness.

After a bit of meditation, Angel finally arrived at the Wilderness of Dreams.

This time, he had two things to do upon logging in.

The first task was naturally to find Jon and hand over Luigi’s ”homework,” and then help Luigi get today’s new assignment.

This task was completed smoothly, and before long, Angel happily received Luigi’s homework for the day.

After that, Angel and Jon took a stroll around Originheart City and even went fishing by the nearby lake for a while... To be precise, Jon fished, and Angel watched from the side.

Angel hasn’t forgotten Laplace’s request.

He didn’t think the Bilun Tree Court would have books related to fishing, and even if they did, they certainly wouldn’t be in the Wizard Market.

Angel thought, after all, fishing books are written by whoever wants to; why not write one himself? As long as he doesn’t sign it, Laplace wouldn’t know who wrote the book.

Angel had fished before but wasn’t very interested in it, nor had he ever caught a big fish. So, he planned to observe Jon fishing, summarize Jon’s fishing experience, and compile a ”Fishing Bible.”

Jon didn’t know what Angel was thinking; seeing Angel remain silent, he thought Angel found fishing boring and advised Angel to head back first, mentioning he could return to Originheart City on his own later.

Angel naturally refused.

He hadn’t summed up enough fishing experience yet and couldn’t leave.

Moreover, it’s over twenty miles from here to Originheart City... Given Jon’s relatively weaker physique compared to others, who knows how long it would take him to walk back to Originheart City on his own.

Usually, it wouldn’t matter, but since he’s the one who brought Jon out this time, he had to see it through to the end.

Jon, seeing Angel’s determination, didn’t say much more, knowing Angel’s persistence better than anyone else.

Though he didn’t advise him further, Jon slowed down his fishing pace, not focusing entirely on fishing but chatting with Angel. Fishing alone allows for complete focus, but with company, one naturally has to consider the other’s feelings.

Angel didn’t realize his presence actually interfered with Jon’s fishing. Seeing Jon chatting with him, Angel certainly wouldn’t refuse, as he had some questions he wanted to ask Jon.

They chatted for a good while, primarily revolving around ”Luigi’s homework quality,” ”Observer Effect,” and ”fishing.”

Luigi’s homework needed no further discussion; the Observer Effect was an experiment Jon previously explained to Angel about ”when observed, the traits change.”

Jon didn’t expect Angel to mention this experiment suddenly, but since Angel asked, Jon didn’t refuse and explained everything he knew.

Seeing Angel listen so intently, Jon speculated that Angel probably came to him for this reason.

Could it be that something related happened in reality?

Although Jon was curious, he didn’t ask.

They talked about the ”Observer Effect” for quite a while... But what surprised Jon even more was that after finishing discussing the Observer Effect, Angel started the topic of ”fishing.”

Moreover, compared to the Observer Effect, Angel seemed more interested in fishing, constantly asking about various fishing techniques.

Seeing Angel’s enthusiastic demeanor, Jon was suddenly confused: Did Angel come for the Observer Effect or for fishing?

Until they finished fishing and returned to Originheart City, Jon hadn’t come to a conclusion.

However, upon parting, Jon looked at Angel, paused for a moment, and said, ”If you’re interested in fishing, you can check out the library in Originheart City. I compiled some fishing books when I was bored in the past.”

Angel: ”???”

Jon: ”What, are you surprised? When I was compiling the Book of Fishing, those old geezers compiling books with me tried to stop me, saying it was useless. But I thought angling is a survival strategy for obtaining food and an important livelihood issue.”

”Of course, back then there were no places for fishing, so those old geezers were right to stop me... But now there are, right? Doesn’t this prove that my foresight was useful?”

Watching Jon speak eloquently, Angel felt a speechless silence in his heart...

He had thought of compiling a ”Fishing Bible,” but unexpectedly, Jon had already completed one long ago, and it was even in the library collection!

What was he working so hard for today, then?

Angel’s heart cried silently, but in front of Jon, he had to act as if nothing was wrong: ”I’m indeed interested in angling. If there’s a book, that would be great.”

Bidding farewell to Jon with tears in his heart, Angel quickly arrived at the library. With guidance from the staff, Angel found the fishing book compiled by Jon.

Not just one volume, but an entire series of five, covering everything from ordinary angling to scientifically correct fishing.

After registering these five books for borrowing, Angel silently went offline.

When he logged in again, he was already on the ship where Laplace was.

Laplace, as Angel expected, was still fishing... and there wasn’t a single fish in the basket.

Seeing Angel appear, Laplace wasn’t particularly surprised, but when Angel presented the complete set of fishing books, she showed a look of delight for the first time.

”Did you find the books so quickly?”

Angel: ”...The Originheart City library has them.”

Laplace didn’t know how Angel felt as he said this; anyway, she was very pleased, and after getting the fishing books, she couldn’t care about anything else and immediately started flipping through them.

Angel sighed silently in his heart and spoke, ”After you’ve finished reading, just return them to the Originheart City library...”

Laplace waved his hand with an expression of understanding.

Angel wasn’t sure if Laplace, immersed in reading, truly understood... but it didn’t matter. After all, he had completed his task of finding the book, albeit more smoothly than expected.

After finishing the task with Laplace, Angel prepared to leave this water area and head to the New City.

His second task upon logging into the Wilderness of Dreams today was to inform the senior members of Barbarian Cave about the attack on Bilun Tree Court.

Actually, Angel had already done this.

While accompanying Jon fishing, Angel took the opportunity to write out the events of the Bilun Tree Court attack and the people involved, and sent it to Ironclad Granny via the Tree Network.

It’s just that Ironclad Granny hadn’t replied, so Angel was planning to visit the New City to check things out.

However, just when Angel was about to go offline and head to the New City, Ironclad Granny suddenly sent a message, and he received three messages in one go.

”I’ve already informed Reine. Reine is currently in contact with Black Earl.”

”The internal conflict within the Gumman Kingdom is on the verge of exploding, and many people want a piece of the pie. Anything can happen. However, the Gumman Kingdom will ultimately become a spiraling abyss, and further involvement will only hasten its downfall.”

”You don’t need to worry about this matter; it’s best to leave the Gumman Kingdom as soon as possible.”

From Ironclad Granny’s detailed reply, Barbarian Cave probably doesn’t plan to get involved in this matter... which makes sense, Barbarian Cave wasn’t harmed, and the two sides are very far apart. Given the deep waters of the Gumman Kingdom, there’s no need to muddy the waters at this time.

Angel himself didn’t plan to get involved either; reporting the situation at Bilun Tree Court was purely to see how Reine, Ironclad Granny, and others viewed the time series wizards.

However, Ironclad Granny’s reply did not specifically mention Aex.

Angel thought about it and straightforwardly inquired about Ironclad Granny’s views on the time series wizards.

This time, Ironclad Granny replied quickly: ”It holds significant value. An official wizard from the time series wields considerable importance, as they possess relatively complete knowledge of the time system. This is something greatly desired by major witcher organizations. Reine is contacting Black Earl primarily to inquire about the time series wizards.”

So, compared to the attack on Bilun Tree Court, Reine is actually more concerned about Aex.

After all, obtaining Aex is tantamount to acquiring the knowledge heritage of the time series.

Angel: ”Is Lord Reine planning to capture Aex?”

Ironclad Granny: ”Time series wizards aren’t easy to capture, and capturing them doesn’t necessarily mean acquiring their heritage. From my understanding of Reine, he is likely interested in inviting Aex to join Barbarian Cave... After all, time series wizards are rare, but apprentices from the time series occasionally emerge. Currently, there is an apprentice from the time series in Barbarian Cave, and the strongest one has already reached the peak of apprenticeship.”

If Aex could teach this apprentice from the time series, perhaps he could cultivate a new time series wizard.

This is likely Reine’s idea.

Angel: ”Should I keep an eye on Aex’s movements?”

Ironclad Granny: ”No need, Reine will handle this matter.”

Angel initially thought that since Aex absorbed his Nightmare Illusion Technique, there might be a chance to establish contact and find him. But since Ironclad Granny said it wasn’t necessary, Angel himself also simulated the situation and concluded that although there was a chance to locate the other party through contact, the odds were very slim, and not worth gambling on.

Thinking of this, Angel decided to give up on searching for Aex.

Since Ironclad Granny had already replied, Angel no longer planned to go to the New City and instead prepared to go offline to deliver Jon’s assignments to the eager Luigi.

Nevertheless, at this very moment, Ironclad Granny sent another message.

”By the way, Kanter came looking for me last night. He said he had something to discuss with you.” Ironclad Granny: ”Is it still the matter from last time?”

Angel: ”Last time... what matter?”

Ironclad Granny paused for several seconds: ”It seems that since Kanter entered the Wilderness of Dreams, you haven’t met him face to face?”

Angel: ”...Yes. I wanted to find him, but every time I went online, he wasn’t there.”

Ironclad Granny: ”It seems you go online too infrequently.”

Angel scratched his head, not daring to retort. Ironclad Granny was right; he indeed hadn’t been online much lately. However, this wasn’t entirely his fault; it was a combination of circumstances.

”Do you know what business Wizard Kanter wants with me?”

Ironclad Granny: ”I know a bit. It’s likely related to the heir of House of Lilith. It’s important to him, but should be simple for you. Specific details will be shared by him; I won’t say much.”

”When he went offline yesterday, he left an apprentice nearby. If you send any message, the apprentice will notify him. When are you free, and I can contact Kanter.”

Angel originally thought of discussing it next time if he encountered Kanter online. Since Kanter specifically left a contact, he naturally couldn’t refuse further.

”Half an hour later, meet in the New City. I’ll come over after handling a small matter here.”

After setting up the time and place, Angel said goodbye to Laplace and went offline.

After logging out, Angel immediately summoned the Indestructible Heart Mirror and dove into the Mirror.

In the Buffer Zone, Laplace hadn’t yet awakened, and from previous observations, she likely wouldn’t go offline until she caught a fish. Angel thus ignored her and directly opened the path to the Heart Space, heading inside.

Along the way to the Heart Space, Angel pondered Ironclad Granny’s words.

”What could Wizard Kanter want with me? Granny said it’s related to the heir of House of Lilith... House of Lilith has always been a single line of inheritance, and the current heir is Qi Li.”

”Could it be that Qi Li is in danger?”

Angel thought about it and felt that was unlikely. If Qi Li were truly in danger, Kanter would definitely have left the Tidal World first thing, rather than leisurely staying as he is now.

But Granny also mentioned that it’s an important matter for Kanter, yet very simple for him.

This made Angel even more puzzled.

Could it be... Kanter still hasn’t given up on matchmaking?

Previously, Kanter had mentioned several times for Angel to get closer to Qi Li, his intentions clear.

Whether Angel was willing or not, Qi Li herself had no such thoughts. Qi Li is similar to Nausicaa; both are witches unwilling to rely on others.

However, even if Qi Li lacked such intentions, Kanter does.

If he truly intends to matchmake, then this aligns perfectly with Granny’s statement...
