Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3084: Chapter 3086: Lianna’s Troubles

Near the Rose Garden in the Sky, there is a thirty-six-story high-rise building.

The design of the high-rise was provided by Jon, and it is completely different from the mainstream designs of the Wizards’ Realm. Simple, clean, orderly, it stands like a square column tower rising from the ground, gleaming with bright white.

According to Jon, this is called a ”modern high-rise.”

Within the Barbarian Cave, not everyone likes this style of building. For example, Xilengding and Duncan find this type of building with layer upon layer of cramped rooms to be like a prison, devoid of freedom.

However, Lianna is very fond of the design of this building, especially the view from the high floors.

Each floor here features transparent floor-to-ceiling windows.

Looking down from the high floors, one can take in nearly half of the New City at a glance. The daylight’s steam mist, smoke and rain curtains, the night’s neon fantasy, city lights, such wonderful scenery always fills Lianna with a sense of awe.

She has seen beautiful views from high above before, but only in the New City, in this place filled with fantasy and punk, with its diverse styles, does the beauty of the high-rise view captivate so deeply.

At this moment, Lianna stands before the window on the thirty-sixth floor, gazing at the scenery below.

Her eyes reflect appreciation for the beauty and hope for the New City.

However, not all of the views satisfy her. When she catches sight of an artificial lake, her brows furrow slightly.

”Aquarium...”

If it were yesterday, Lianna might still be pleased with the creatures housed in the aquarium, but now she finds them wearisome.

Aquarium ecology? Isn’t it just about putting pretty sea fish inside? Why the need for ecology?

Recalling the message Angel had sent her earlier, Lianna feels a headache building: ”Reform, how to reform? Who to find to organize the ecology?”

It’s not that she doesn’t understand ecology, but she knows real-world ecology.

The creatures in this aquarium are all native creations of the Wilderness of Dreams, many of which are purely fantastical inventions—she doesn’t even know their names, let alone how to simulate an ecological chain for them.

Despite her inner resignation, Lianna knows Angel’s point is valid.

If she lets it go unchecked, the creatures in the aquarium might not die, but they will certainly wilt.

The aquarium was built for display, wasn’t it? Especially with the Tea Party approaching, showcasing such a fantastical aquarium would undoubtedly attract countless eyes.

Who doesn’t like beautiful things?

But if the creatures on display all appear wilted, it would invite not praise, but contempt.

This is something Lianna absolutely does not want to see.

”Ecology, ecology...” Lianna mumbles as she massages her temples, which are starting to throb, moving away from the window and sitting back at her desk, continuing to think about how to solve this major issue.

Before Lianna could think of a solution to the aquarium problem, the office door was knocked open.

A tall rose slithered in from outside the door.

This was a pink rose, with a small, rosy mouth in the middle of its bloom. Below the flower’s crown was a long vine, forming humanoid ”arms and legs,” allowing it to move easily.

It even extended a vine to hang two hefty stacks of books.

If Angel saw this rose, he would most likely think of the name ”Jack Sue,” as it was an exceptionally sleazy rose from the Rose Garden.

But this rose was not that rose; it was called...

”Mary Sue, what brings you here?” Lianna turned her head to look at the rose. When she saw the two hefty stacks of books wound around its vine, her already slightly dizzy brain froze again.

After a good while, Lianna pointed at the stacks of books and said, ”Don’t tell me those are today’s pending cases?”

Ever since Lianna took over the New City construction, every day has brought various pending cases.

Most of them are about construction plans.

Jon had provided an overall design plan for the New City, but it only included the overall style and the design of the main buildings. As for those oddly shaped background buildings and their design plans, they had to complete those themselves.

This has led to a flurry of problems with the buildings.

And as Lianna is the main person in charge of the New City’s construction, these problems ultimately land on her desk.

These issues aren’t hard for her to handle, just very troublesome.

She has thought about finding someone to share the workload... but there are not many people with the talent and understanding of structure needed. Even those who might know a bit only have a superficial understanding, and it still falls to her to check everything in the end.

After being worn down over this period, every time she saw Mary Sue bringing in case files, she felt like steam was coming out of her head.

”Most of these are pending cases, but previously Flora the Witch was online, and she helped finish a lot. So the master just needs to glance over them,” Mary Sue’s voice was distinctly youthful, gentle and soft, with a lingering sweetness.

”Flora helped?” Lianna was feeling a bit downcast, but upon hearing the news, her eyes lit up: ”No wonder she’s such a good sister, always helping me even while recovering!”

Seeing Lianna beginning to feel moved by herself, Mary Sue coughed, interrupting: ”Flora the Witch said, just a bottle of Veil Rose Extract would do.”

Lianna’s joyful expression froze instantly.

The average price of Veil Rose Extract at the auction house is a thousand Magic Crystals!

”Loss, too much loss,” Lianna gritted her teeth and said, ”If she says that next time, at least have her handle ten days’ worth of cases!”

Mary Sue extended a leaf to cover the flower pistil, and chuckled, ”So, did the master agree to give it?”

”Yes.” Lianna: ”I actually promised to give her a bottle before, but at the time I was still looking for a venue for the Tea Party, so I forgot. I didn’t expect she would still be thinking about the Silken Rose Dew even though she’s not in Barbarian Cave anymore.”

Flora helped sort out the cases to be resolved, which was essentially a reminder not to forget this matter.

”Alright, if I encounter the witch Flora later, I will tell her.”

After speaking, Mary Sue placed two stacks of booklets on the table, waiting for Lianna to check them.

Lianna spent five minutes quickly reviewing all the booklets. After confirming there were no errors, she nodded to Mary Sue, ”It’s fine. Flora is still reliable in her work. Take them down and allocate the tasks.”

Mary Sue smiled slightly and extended her tendrils to re-bundle the dossier booklets.

However, after completing all this, Mary Sue did not leave immediately: ”Master, when I was on the road just now, I encountered an apprentice out measuring the waters.”

”What, does he have any issues? If there are problems during the water measurement, he should go directly to the Tree Spirit. That is under his responsibility.”

Mary Sue shook her head: ”It’s not that. I heard the apprentice talking to the person next to him, saying that last night he saw the witch Greya in the wild. She was with a huge meat mountain baby, following a group of Dream Plant Fairies who looked unusual.”

”I went to the lakeside to check, and the witch Greya is no longer on Delicacies Island.”

Delicacies Island is a construction project that Lianna had reached an agreement on with Greya recently.

The goal is to create a dreamlike food island in the center of the inner lake of New City, where the ground flows with honey, waterfalls with wine, and even the trees on the island, when cut down, are full of meat fragrance.

Undoubtedly, the construction of Delicacies Island is also to serve the Tea Party.

Previously, Lianna actually thought about asking Greya to help concoct the food for the Tea Party, but Greya always refused. It wasn’t that Greya was unwilling; it’s that she couldn’t exert her full abilities in the Wilderness of Dreams. For a Gourmet Sorcerer, if the food cannot reach its peak, it’s better not to make it at all.

In the end, Lianna couldn’t convince Greya, so she gave up.

But not long ago, a turning point occurred; Greya brought back a Dream Plant Fairy named Moss Baby, saying that with its help, a food paradise could be constructed. Thus, the Delicacies Island plan came into existence.

Mary Sue also knew the importance of Delicacies Island to the master, so she conveyed the overheard news to Lianna.

After hearing Mary Sue’s words, Lianna seemed to think of something.

”Fairies who seem extraordinary? Could it be the Fairy Guard Squad? Is it possible that Moss Baby has been taken away by people from the Fairy Guard Squad?”

Lianna was aware of some insider information.

Moss Baby yearns for the outside world, but the first generation Dream Plant Fairies don’t have a favorable impression of humans, so it could only sneak away. It failed several times and was caught by the Fairy Guard Squad, but later, after meeting Greya, Moss Baby successfully escaped.

”Logically speaking, the Fairy Guard Squad shouldn’t penetrate human living areas. Could it be that they made an exception for Moss Baby?”

Lianna frowned as she took out the Mother Tree Interlinker from the drawer, intending to inquire with Greya.

As soon as she opened the tree network, Lianna happened to see Angel’s message.

However, Lianna did not immediately open the message; instead, she set Angel’s chat window aside and continued looking for Greya’s name.

Half a minute later, a response came from Greya.

”It’s the Fairy Guard Squad.”

Seeing this message, Lianna furrowed her brow even tighter. Before the Tea Party ends, she is not inclined to deeply engage with the Dream Plant Fairies, especially the first generation who do not have a favorable opinion of humans.

She just fears the Tea Party might be disrupted by these Fairies.

Previously, the first generation Dream Plant Fairies wouldn’t appear in human activity areas. But since the Fairy Guard Squad has found Delicacies Island, doesn’t this mean they have already entered New City?

This is not good news.

At this moment, another message from Greya arrived: ”Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. After this, I will screen the Mother Tree Network. When I return... if there are any questions, you can go find Angel.”

After that, Greya didn’t send any more messages.

Lianna pinched her swollen forehead, feeling utterly helpless inside.

The issues at the Sea Pavilion still need dealing with, and now there’s the trouble with the Fairy Guard Squad...

Hopefully, Greya really ”can handle it.”

Just as Lianna was feeling the headache, Mary Sue’s gentle voice came into her ear: ”Master, is there any trouble you need me to help with?”

Lianna looked at Mary Sue and gently shook her head, ”It’s nothing, go get busy.”

Mary Sue: ”Did something happen with the witch Greya?”

Lianna didn’t respond, and Mary Sue understood her master’s character. Further questioning wouldn’t yield anything, so she waved her tendrils and left the office.

Once Mary Sue had left, Lianna reopened the tree network and found Angel’s chat window.

Angel didn’t engage in any small talk; his message went straight to the point.

Looking at this term in the dialogue, Lianna felt like she understood the meaning of each word, but didn’t know what Angel was trying to express when they were combined.

”What is the Time Tribute?”
