Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1099: Chapter 1097: Maze and Swamp

Walking to the center of the underground space, Gu Xi looked up and just saw the passage that went straight up and down.

The passage was incredibly large.

Looking up from a position more than sixty meters from the passage, one could still see a massive pipeline with a diameter of over forty meters.

With the size of this passage, two to three Giant Dragons could fly side by side without any issue.

Looking further up, you could even see a bit of sunlight falling in from above.

It was very clear that this passage led directly to the outside of the castle above.

All the Giant Dragons could fly out from here, while the sunlight and rainwater from the ground could also fall into the underground space from here.

Right below this passage was the massive maze.

Unlike the maze between the City Walls seen earlier.

The maze ahead was entirely made of a type of Black square brick.

These square bricks were obviously much thicker than the yellow bricks on the ground.

At the same time, Gu Xi noticed that inside the maze, there were occasional glimpses of some mechanisms, scattered Gold, and bones left behind by unknown people.

Standing outside the maze, Gu Xi had a feeling that if he wasn’t the owner of this city and had no one to lead him, he could very well get lost once he entered the maze.

Even having the Pathfinding Skill would be useless.

This maze had the ability to counteract the Pathfinding Skill.

However, as long as you didn’t go in, there was no problem.

Looking from outside the maze, Gu Xi knew that this enormous maze was clearly a large area that combined seven or eight buildings like Maze, Rotating Entrances, and Enhanced Maze.

Inside these buildings, some were used to enhance the output of Minotaurs, some to increase the Level and Combat Power of the Minotaurs, and some to prepare equipment for the Minotaurs.

Every week, Thieves refreshingly entered the maze among them; they were the ones who delivered food and Experience to the Minotaurs.

The White Bone on the ground was the best evidence of these Thieves’ existence.

With such enhancements, the maze could produce 24 Minotaurs every week.

All of them were above Level 6, strong and robust, wearing Heavy Armor with a War Axe in hand.

When Gu Xi came over, these Minotaurs even poked their heads out from the maze, giving Gu Xi a glance.

But since Gu Xi didn’t enter the maze, these Minotaurs didn’t have any intention of coming out to communicate with Gu Xi.

They just waited inside the maze.

As long as there was no command, they would rather die in the maze like that.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi also noticed a situation that at the entrance of the maze, there was something resembling a pool on the ground outside the maze.

When Gu Xi approached, he could still see traces of blood that hadn’t dried up in the pool.

Just as Gu Xi was wondering what this pool was used for, about sixty Cave Dwellers pushed carts over from afar.

These Cave Dwellers were somewhat different from those Gu Xiyu had encountered before.

They wore White clothes, and on their carts were placed a lot of vines and several already processed whole pigs.

Most importantly, the carts at the back even held large barrels of fresh blood and some already chopped-off cow heads.

Gu Xi was a bit speechless. Was it really okay to throw these things in front of the maze?

Wasn’t this clearly provoking the Minotaurs?

While Gu Xi was silently complaining there, the Cave Dwellers had already stopped in front of the pool.

They acted based on hearing, though knowing someone was there, if Gu Xi didn’t speak, they wouldn’t even know it was him.

So they didn’t greet Gu Xi or anything.

They just directly lifted the large barrels off the cart and poured the blood into the pool.

Then the chopped vines and large cow heads were thrown in.

After handling everything, they heavily struck the large bell in front of the maze and just pushed their carts away like that.

After the Cave Dwellers left, the Minotaurs in the maze came out in pairs and threes.

At least these creatures had eyes; they even greeted Gu Xi when they saw him.

Then they walked to the pool, picked up their food, and started eating.

Gu Xi saw that the cow heads thrown into the pool were quite popular, snatched up by the Minotaurs immediately.

They ignored everything else and sat on the ground, nibbling on the cow heads.

Watching their actions, Gu Xi also felt quite speechless.

Most importantly, these Minotaurs also noticed Gu Xi; one of them even raised a cow head towards Gu Xi as if asking if he wanted a bite.

Although Gu Xi was an omnivore and could eat mice and such, faced with the scene before him, he shook his head in the end.

Forget it, just pretend I didn’t see it; better not to eat anything later with no appetite.

Gu Xi shook his head as he left the maze range.

Next, Gu Xi saw two areas—one in the south and one in the north—where Hydras spawned.

One area looked like a mist-shrouded swamp, while the other was simply a muddy pond.

As Gu Xi approached, many gigantic snakeheads quickly emerged from within.

Obvious enough, Gu Xi’s arrival had already startled these creatures.

However, they had no intention of attacking Gu Xi; they just raised their heads to glance at Gu Xi’s situation.

After watching Gu Xi, all the Hydras retracted and went back to resting.

With just such a rise and fall, Gu Xi could see the differences between these two kinds of Hydras.

The Hydras over at the swamp were obviously the regular kind, having snake-like bodies with nine heads and no legs.

When they raised their heads, the fan-shaped branches on the snake body were clearly visible at the snakehead part.

There was no problem calling them Hydras.

But the ones emerging from the Hydra Pond weren’t regular Hydras.

If you had to classify them, you should call them Multi-headed Monsters.

They had three heads and a pair of legs capable of crawling on the ground.

If you judge the number of Hydras simply by counting their heads, you’d definitely suffer losses in this regard.

However, Gu Xi noticed that, regardless of whether they were Hydras or Multi-headed Monsters, there was a certain intelligence in their eyes.

They weren’t the type of uncontrollable existence.

This was certainly good news for Gu Xi.

At least these types of troops could understand orders.

Unlike the Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldier that Gu Xi had just acquired, which just charged forward brainlessly on a rampage.

This kind of unit would naturally receive Gu Xi’s approval.

After circling around the Training Camp for the two types of Hydras, Gu Xi discovered that this underground space indeed had a lot of arrangements made at every opportunity.

In both the swamp and the Hydra Pond, a large number of swimming fish were raised, which should be food for the Hydras; although not considered the main food, they alleviated some burden in terms of food supply.
