Chapter 1043: Chapter 1041: Enemy Encounter Outside the City (Bonus Update)

When the Octopus-headed Undead Mage rushed out from his hideout, it marked the beginning of the final battle between Gu Xi and the Octopus-headed Undead Mage.

Faced with a doubled troop count, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s confidence soared.

Although the additional forces didn’t restore his troops to their original level, it at least provided some usable forces.

Even though these forces consisted of militias and low-level Undead units.

Their numbers were still adequate.

Most importantly, the Baphomet Altar’s doubling was a true doubling.

Even the troops that the Octopus-headed Undead Mage had forgotten were unearthed from the recesses and put out in the open by the Baphomet Altar.

Now, after gathering these forces, the total number exceeded sixty thousand.

Even the Octopus-headed Undead Mage himself hadn’t anticipated being able to assemble so many troops.

Previously, he hadn’t commanded even thirty thousand troops.

Since his emergence from hiding, he hadn’t even put on clothes, promptly mobilizing his forces.

Although his Death City had expanded to twice its size, he could clearly perceive everything he could control within the city.

Under the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s mobilization, these mud-like Undead moved towards a singular direction from all sides.

Even though he had previously been suppressed by Gu Xi, it was not due to lack of experience or poor intellect on the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s part.

It was simply that the forces he could bring out of Death City at that time were limited.

In addition to momentary arrogance, he failed to notice the strength of Gu Xi’s forces, leading to his defeat and shambles.

Now realizing his abundant manpower, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s ambitions grew.

At this moment, his target shifted, now fixated on Gu Xi outside the city.

As long as he killed Gu Xi, he too could claim Gu Xi’s Death City.

Currently, Gu Xi had a scant amount of forces by his side, with the strongest Bone Dragon still flying within his Death City, and the previous impactful Knight Order outside the city.

Due to his city’s expansion to twice its size, returning would take some time.

Dominic’s offensive could not be disrupted.

With scant forces around Gu Xi, it was the opportune moment for action.

Thus, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage immediately mobilized the mud Undead, sending them out from several city gates, swiftly advancing towards Gu Xi.

But were the forces around Gu Xi truly weak?

Gu Xi himself didn’t think so.

Although the most elite Conversion Undead Squad had already been dispatched to Death City.

All his four main camps remained by his side.

When the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s troops surrounded him from all directions, Gu Xi noticed immediately.

Unaware of the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s intentions, Gu Xi still considered him to have gone mad.

Self-destruction was not meant to be carried out this way.

An Undead Mage relies not on the quantity of Undead, but fundamentally on spells.

Although Gu Xi didn’t have many troops with him, the mere thousands of mud Undead were not significant in his eyes.

”Ghost Gate Opening!”

Seeing the charging Undead, Gu Xi immediately used Ghost Gate Opening.

And this time, Gu Xi used more than one Ghost Gate Opening.

With ample Mana, Gu Xi decisively unleashed fifteen Ghost Gate Openings.

These gates were directly placed amidst the incoming mud Undead.

As the gates opened, a portion of the rushing mud Undead was squeezed into the Ghost Gate.

The Undead inside the gate had not yet charged out before being pushed back.

Gu Xi was already aware of such a situation when he released Ghost Gate Opening.

This was precisely the effect he desired.

Using the gates to attract these Undead.

Then Gu Xi raised his hand, and all the Skeleton Shooters from the Black Dragon Camp raised their bows and arrows, unleashing a rain of arrows upon the charging mud Undead.

The mud Undead were pinned to the ground under this wave of arrow rain.

Yet their essence was mud; even if a portion was pinned down, they could abandon it and proceed forward.

At this time, Brave Fight from the Demon Sacrifice Camp also took action.

He once more employed Mana Extraction to siphon the mud Undead’s Mana.

However, the present situation differed from the mud Undead previously led to battle by the Octopus-headed Undead Mage.

The current mud Undead did not belong to the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s regular troops.

The regular troops’ Mana was entirely based on the Octopus-headed Undead Mage.

Their Mana was personal.

Conversely, these mud Undead were the defense troops from within Death City.

Their Mana was derived from Death City.

As long as Death City was under the Octopus-headed Undead Mage’s control, they could continually replenish from the city’s energy.

Brave Fight’s Mana Extraction, though somewhat effective, was not significantly so.

The mud Undead would dry out as their Mana was extracted, but they would quickly reassemble.

This was unlike the prior battles outside.

At this point, Gu Xi understood why the Octopus-headed Undead Mage dispatched these mud Undead; he believed he possessed an unkillable force, attempting to use them to annihilate Gu Xi.

But he underestimated Gu Xi, as if Gu Xi were just an ordinary Undead Mage.

With Mana Extraction not having satisfactory effects, Gu Xi then hurled the Flame Domain towards the mud Undead.

Various flame effects directly emerged amidst the mud Undead.

The flames inflicted decent damage upon the mud Undead.

While they couldn’t ignite them directly, they could impede their advance.

Meanwhile, Undead from the Ghost Gate emerged to clash with the mud Undead.

They wielded no notable weapons or equipment, requiring three or four Undead to kill a single mud Undead during engagements.

Nonetheless, the Undead from the Ghost Gate seemed infinite, relentlessly attacking despite the mud Undead rising from the earth and devouring their bodies.

”Charge, cut through their ranks!”

During a pause between spells, Gu Xi issued an attack order to his Undead Corps.

In Gu Xi’s view, the mud Undead before him were there to provide experience.

If using this chance to boost his Undead Corps’ combat experience wasn’t seized, then when would it?

Thus, the fourth wave of fresh Undead troops was immediately deployed by Gu Xi.
