Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1008: Chapter 1006: The Dead Game World

Walking along the path into Bailian City’s sewer space, Gu Xi discovered that Bailian City’s sewers were not simple.

In the sewer, decaying corpses could occasionally be seen in the sewage.

This situation was rare to see in Bailian City.

In a city that produces Undead Mages and Death Knights, there would only be a shortage of corpses, and no discarded corpses.

The best way to dispose of a corpse after a kill is to summon a soul and turn the corpse into a Skeleton Soldier.

Not just throw it into the sewer.

Such corpses appearing in the sewer indicate that the sewer is starting to intersect with some Game Worlds and is slowly undergoing assimilation.

If Gu Xi hadn’t encountered the attack from the Guo Family, hadn’t gotten the deputy of the White Bone Obelisk, he might have remembered this situation to report it later.

But now, Gu Xi just chuckled.

He pretended he didn’t see it, since he had heard that in some hidden corners of the city, there were many such situations.

Occasionally news would spread about players disappearing in the city’s corners.

One missing piece of information from Gu Xi wouldn’t make a difference.

Scanning the corpses soaked in the water, Gu Xi followed his intuition in a certain direction.

It’s undeniable that the Pathfinding Skill is indeed useful in such a maze.

Whenever he reached a crossroads, Gu Xi could always feel in advance what lay behind each path.

He could also sense where to go to reach his destination quickest.

After testing a few times, Gu Xi found his intuition was correct, so he continued to follow it.

Gu Xi isn’t the kind to explore every path like a pathfinder or squirrel.

For Gu Xi, it’s sufficient to follow his intuition to the most appropriate place.

This time, he came to avoid some trouble and to see what awaited at his targeted location.

With this mindset, Gu Xi advanced at significant speed through the sewer maze.

As he moved forward, Gu Xi was increasingly clear about certain feelings related to the Pathfinding Skill.

Previously, he would just feel which direction was good to advance in.

Now, it’s different.

Gu Xi could sometimes clearly see where was suitable to go, where was not convenient, where there were hidden paths, and where there were secret doors.

Where looked passable, but once crossed, nothing would be there.

This feeling was akin to walking in his own living room.

Familiar and obvious.

So Gu Xi walked faster, and if not for the sewer occasionally having narrow spots, unsuitable for such a large vehicle as the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, Gu Xi might have brought it out to run at the highest speed through the sewer.

About half an hour later in the sewer, Gu Xi finally reached a location with an underground pit.

Looking down from here, even someone as experienced as Gu Xi couldn’t help but take a deep, cold breath.

In front of Gu Xi in the sewer depths lay a seemingly bottomless pit; looking down from his position, he could see the pit walls covered in numerous Purple crystals.

Each crystal contained an aura of death.

But these were blocked entirely at the pit’s exit.

If Gu Xi wasn’t standing right there, he might not have felt anything different.

After a glance downward, Gu Xi took a step back, retreating far from the pit.

Ensuring his safety, Gu Xi wiped some cold sweat away; with just that glance, he felt as if he was about to be torn apart.

Because of this feeling, Gu Xi clearly saw what lay beneath the pit.

He once experienced the Lower World.

That’s a game world in decay and decline.

And in the pit each purple crystal is a piece of a dead game world.

Such a dead game world might have concluded all its missions or been drained entirely of energy, leaving nothing.

All game worlds here are those with nothing remaining.

Their sole function is to serve as a city’s base, preventing assimilation by the game world.

Gu Xi never thought he’d end up here following intuition after testing the Pathfinding Skill.

Luckily, he reacted quickly; a moment longer and he feared being drawn into these dead game worlds.

It’s considered a good place to pilfer from.

Many naive players had the same dream.

But upon contact with these dead game worlds, immediately they’d be drained of life force and their souls sealed within.

The Lower World still has levels and life.

An already dead game world truly has nothing.

If drawn in, even the strongest would be drained to nothing, with no chance of escape.

Players, especially those sensitive to the Aura of Death in Bailian City, are warned about the dangers of dead game worlds from school.

They learn how to respond upon encountering them.

Never think oneself to be the chosen one capable of harvesting from these dead game worlds.

With this belief, they’d be trapped inside, without even a chance to reincarnate or transform into a Witch Demon.

Perhaps after millions of years, the dead game worlds become fossils, and trapped players may be excavated by someone harvesting the fossils.

But what does that mean to the dead players?

The longest-lived players only managed thirteen thousand years.

Not even the start of fossilization.

Expecting anything more is futile; waiting to become fossils?

Wiping his sweat, Gu Xi found a spot near the sewer wall to sit.

He tried not to look towards the pit, fearing a dizzy spell might make him fall in.

No one could save him then.

Yet at this moment, Gu Xi wondered why his Perception led him here.

There’s nothing he wanted here.

Just then, in the Guo Family’s private game world, Mr. Guo, who had just arrived, looked extremely grim.

”What do you mean he didn’t come? I arranged everything, halted the whole private game world operation to await the Full-Power Strike, and now you say he hasn’t entered.

How is that possible, where is he!”
