Chapter 1040: Chapter 1038: The Sacrifice Begins

Baphomet Altar, a relatively rare special building in the wild.

If you haven’t encountered it yourself, no one would even know such a thing exists, and those who do know are already dead.

Because the essence of the Baphomet Altar is an altar for reverse sacrifice. By offering sacrifices to the Baphomet Altar, you can receive double the reward in troops and strength of what you sacrificed.

No matter what you sacrifice, the Baphomet Altar will immediately double it and return it to you.

However, this doubling return has a time limit.

Once this time limit is over, sorry, the doubled return, along with what you initially sacrificed, including your life, will all be taken away.

Thus, for many years, not many people have known about the Baphomet Altar.

No one has spread this information.

The reason is here: those who knew are already dead.

It can be said that this is a desperate last resort for revenge.

The Octopus-headed Undead Mage never thought, due to a moment’s carelessness, he would indeed mess up the direction of his sacrifice.

He shifted his target from Bafumie to the Baphomet Altar itself.

The most important thing is, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage didn’t know the terrors of the Baphomet Altar.

After preparing everything for the sacrifice, he decisively proceeded with it.

When the Octopus-headed Undead Mage began the sacrifice, Gu Xi had already withdrawn with part of the forces outside the city gate.

Understanding what the Octopus-headed Undead Mage intended to do, Gu Xi definitely wouldn’t place himself in danger’s way.

He planned to retreat a distance, roughly three to five miles outside the city, from which he could clearly see the situation within the city, ensuring any incident wouldn’t affect Gu Xi.

When Gu Xi retreated, Dominic did not back down.

Dominic’s current mission was to capture the Death City in front of him.

Gu Xi could retreat, but he could not.

Even in death, he had to die fighting.

To the Undead, death is not terrifying. After Dominic’s death, he could still be resurrected at the Eternal Enslavement Altar in Yalidov City.

So he never worried about this.

When Gu Xi retreated, he charged forward with his subordinates; if Gu Xi hadn’t held him back just now, he would’ve already reached the Assembly Hall.

Now he needed to focus more energy, targeting the Assembly Hall there.

And just as Dominic advanced, the second curse of the White Bone Obelisk was implemented.

Under Gu Xi’s orders, the White Bone Obelisk acted twice in total.

The first was a blessing and a curse.

The blessing directly changed the owner of this Death City, while the curse made the Octopus-headed Undead Mage misdirect his sacrifice.

The second was a curse and a blessing.

This curse was targeted, unlike the previous one, where chance determined its effect.

This second curse had a clear target, wasn’t the Octopus-headed Undead Mage planning to sacrifice the entire Death City?

Then sorry, you can’t leave.

In the heart location underground, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage who had just completed the sacrifice suddenly heard a strange voice by his ear.

The voice was almost indistinguishable, but through spiritual perception, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage understood the meaning within the voice.

”In the name of White Bone, curse all within the city, forbidden to leave the city at this time!”

”Damn it!”

The Octopus-headed Undead Mage shouted immediately.

He realized something went wrong.

If he couldn’t leave Elthorpe Super New City, he would be sacrificed together with this Death City.

This was not what he wanted.

Even though the subsequent prompt informed the Octopus-headed Undead Mage that the curse’s duration was not long, only 15 minutes.

But it didn’t make the Octopus-headed Undead Mage feel much better.

Fifteen minutes were enough for two rounds of sacrifice.

Now the Octopus-headed Undead Mage could only hope that Bafumie remembered him and, when arriving, would show some leniency and not kill him outright.

At this moment, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage suddenly felt something was amiss.

There seemed to be spatial fluctuations emanating from the city.

This was someone using Space Magic in the city.

No, it wasn’t Space Magic, it was the Positional Teleportation Technique.

Mages of the Undead wouldn’t use such magic.

However, in the Death City Cluster, to ensure connection between each Death City, people were specially appointed to set up coordinates used for positional teleportation within the city.

Before, no matter how the Octopus-headed Undead Mage reported upward, hoping for more hands to be sent over.

There was no response, and now a sudden spatial fluctuation, what was going on?

Surely reinforcements weren’t being sent over?

The Octopus-headed Undead Mage was at a loss.

Sending reinforcements now, what was the point?

Coming at this point was already too late; he had already used Elthorpe Super New City for sacrifice, and soon Lord Bafumie would arrive; no matter how many came, it would be useless.

The entire Elthorpe Super New City would disappear altogether.

At this point, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage suddenly felt the ground continuously shake.

The sacrificial array he arranged beforehand had already started operating automatically.

This occurrence startled the Octopus-headed Undead Mage.

How did it begin so quickly, when he hadn’t escaped yet?

The Octopus-headed Undead Mage hurriedly moved forward to stop the array’s activation.

At the last moment, the Octopus-headed Undead Mage had only one thought: he mustn’t die.

As long as the array stopped now, he’d still have a chance.

After 15 minutes, he could start it again.

He just needed more persuasion; he believed there wouldn’t be an issue from Lord Bafumie’s side.

Yet when the Octopus-headed Undead Mage moved forward to halt the array’s power supply, he realized he had lost control over Elthorpe Super New City.

This was unprecedented.

Although he abandoned control of Elthorpe Super New City, it didn’t mean he abandoned everything.

Without Elthorpe Super New City, what could he sacrifice? Himself?

”Damn it, what is going on.”

The Octopus-headed Undead Mage pounded heavily on the ground.

After a few hits, he realized now was not the time to be angry.

The priority was to stop the array, if it continued to operate, not only would the control of Elthorpe Super New City be lost, but Elthorpe Super New City itself wouldn’t remain.

So the Octopus-headed Undead Mage, disregarding everything else, hurriedly crawled out from the array he arranged underground.

Preparing to run to Elthorpe Super New City’s core to see what happened.

Who had taken his control over Elthorpe Super New City?

And just at this moment, the sacrificial array prematurely completed.
