Chapter 299: The Egg(End)

A silence fell on the entire area, hearing the bid of three hundred million low soul stones.

For a few seconds after that, no new bid arrived, signifying that the auction was approaching its end and the egg was about to find its owner.

”Does anyone want to bid anymore?” Lewis asked with a hint of irritation in his voice.

Lewis only got silent in his response, so he asked the same question a few seconds later, ”If no one wants to bid anymore, the egg would be sold to the gentleman in the VIP room number 2.”

John, who was sitting in the VIP room, had a mixture of expressions on his face. He looked nervous, hoping that no new bid would arrive, but at the same time, he also had a determined look in his eyes to go big once more if someone dared to bid again.

The crowd also silently waited with their gaped mouths.

One second passed, two seconds passed, three seconds passed,...five seconds passed.

Lewis was going to sell the egg, but before he could announce it, a new bid arrived on the scene.

”Three hundred...three hundred and thirty million low soul stones!”

Even a child could sense that the bid was made out of frustration. The bidder even stopped for a second, but the next moment, while gritting his teeth, he successfully announced his bid.

The man who had made the bid was named Harry Weller, and he was the second in line for the auction of the golden key.

After making the bid, he had lost all his strength as with this bid. He had emptied his treasury if he were to win the egg.

Before he could even enjoy the envy of the crowd for making such a large bid, another bid surpassing him rang in the arena.

”Three hundred and fifty million low soul stones!”

John didnʼt even think and right away made his bid, surpassing Harryʼs bid by twenty million low soul stones.

Harry, after hearing that his bid wasnʼt the highest anymore, felt disappointed and heaved a sigh of relief at the same time.

He felt disappointed as three hundred and thirty million low soul stones were his entire savings and felt relieved because he had made the last bid in the spur of the moment, not to let the egg get away from him.

If he had succeeded and won the egg, in the end, he wouldʼve still failed, as the egg will only give birth to a newborn, not a Level 50 creature, and raising it to the wolf king level will take a large number of resources, which he wouldnʼt have since he had spent everything in the bid.

”Thank you to the gentleman from VIP room number 2 for making the bid of three hundred and fifty million low soul stones. Since there is no one bidding to surpass the amount, the gentleman has become the owner of the egg.”

”Congratulations on winning!”

Lewis, who was already irritated in his heart due to not being able to catch with these persons, announced the result the next second after the bid, without even waiting for anyone to make the next bid. But since none was able to surpass the bid of 350 million low soul stones, no one complained.

”At least, I got the egg,” John mumbled, hearing that he had won the bid.

He then stood up from his chair, went to the door, and unlocked it.

The crowd didnʼt even have any words to explain what they were feeling right now. Even though the golden key made more money, it was only 100,000 for every participant, while around 600,000 for the winner, it only collectively surpassed the highest bidding amount of the egg. But here, a single person had paid an outrageous amount of 350 million low soul stones for only one product.

After exiting the room, John directly jumped on the stage from up above.

He ignored Lewis as he directly went to the egg after appearing on the stage. He couldnʼt help but touch the egg.

The next moment, a smile erupted on his face, feeling the smooth shell of the egg. The egg came two-thirds of him. Even if he wanted, he couldnʼt encompass the entirety of the egg in a single time.

”Cough!”

John was enjoying the feeling of having the egg when a familiar cough interrupted him. A look of irritation appeared on his face as he glared at the source of the disturbance.

”You still need to pay before owning the egg,” Lewis responded, ignoring the glare that came at him.

”Hmph!” John scoffed. He then added, ”Come with me!”

John then returned to his VIP room, while Lewis carried the egg and also went up the stairs to the VIP section.

Lewis didnʼt directly enter room number three, but one, where Aakesh was sitting.

”Adventurer, the egg has been sold for three hundred and fifty million low soul stones,” Lewis respectfully told him.

”You can take 20% of that for yourself,” Aakesh nodded and said.

”Adventurer, I didnʼt do this for soul stones,” Lewis refused straight away. Taking the money from the adventurer meant that he was doing the work for money. He only wanted to make sure that he had good relations with Aakesh since he was currently the strongest party in the town.

”You donʼt have a choice,” Aakesh expressionlessly responded.

Today was most probably his last day in Wolfden, so he didnʼt want to have any debts on him before he left.

Even though Lewis was the weaker party and did his biddings, Aakesh still felt it as a favor on him, so he wanted to end this debt by paying him twenty percent of the amount he had made by selling the egg.

The twenty percent of the highest bid was seventy million low soul stones, and it was a large amount for even someone like Lewis, who only had life savings of around two hundred million low soul stones.

A wry smile appeared on Lewisʼs face, hearing Aakeshʼs words. He had no choice but to take the twenty percent and end his dealings with Aakesh.

”Thank you, adventurer,” Lewis then thanked Aakesh as he was still getting a large number of low soul stones.

Aakesh only expressionlessly nodded in response.. Lewis was then turning around to leave when Aakesh suddenly asked him something, making him stop.
