Chapter 298: The Egg(1)

”Cough!” Lewis did a fake cough to bring the attention of the crowd back to him.

The Townhead trying to make his daughter smile was a commendable job, but he still had a job left to do. For him, the adventurer was scarier than David or Mark, the previous Townhead.

The slight cough broke the silence pervading the area as the crowd looked at Lewis. They then remembered that there was still a product left before the auction ended.

”Congratulations to David Scott for becoming our new Townhead. If it was some other time, we wouldʼve ended the auction, but thereʼs still a product left, and that product isnʼt any less valuable than the golden key,” Lewis announced, as the next moment, a giant egg half the size of him appeared on the stage.

Only David in the crowd was able to see how the egg out of nowhere appeared on the stage.

The crowd gasped in surprise and admiration, seeing the sudden appearance of the egg. Unlike the key, which only had its golden splendor to show its majesty, the egg looked no less than something valuable.

The egg was silver in color, the same as the fur of the wolf king. There were also several red patterns engraved on the shell of the egg, giving it a majestic appearance.

The crowd, seated in the chairs near the stage, could feel the pressure leaked by the unborn creature in the egg. Fortunately for them, the pressure wasnʼt overbearing. They only felt that a breeze continuously passed around them.

”This is the egg the adventurer has given up for the auction. Youʼre all aware that the previous Townhead wasnʼt the only Level 50 around the town, and there was also the wolf king, who had reached Level 50.”

”Weʼre all aware that what wouldʼve happened to the town in the absence of the Townhead, but the world of Panagea blesses us, and the adventurer slew that beast,” Lewis announced with a sincere look of gratefulness on his face, forgetting that the adventurer was the same person who had killed their Townhead.

Many in the crowd understood this, but they still clapped after Lewis announced.

Lewis gave the crowd a few seconds to clap since that was the primary purpose he had behind invoking the name of the adventurer. Currently, the adventurer was the strongest in the town, and he wanted to impress him.

Aakesh, on the other hand, wasnʼt even looking at the auction. He instead was relaxing on the chair with closed eyes.

”This egg is the result of that hunt. I donʼt need to explain to you the terror that the wolf king had.”

”Having this egg is the equivalent of having a powerhouse on your side, so I donʼt need to explain to you the benefits of having it,” Lewis announced.

”Since everyone is ready, letʼs begin the auction,” Lewis announced. He didnʼt stop and further added, ”The starting bid for the egg is 50 million low soul stones, and each bid needs to be the multiple of ten million.”

”60 million low soul stones!”

Lewis had only announced when the first bid for the egg arrived.

The crowd, seated in the lower areas and on the chairs located on the ground, couldnʼt help but get disappointed, seeing that even the lowest bid surpassed their threshold.

They had thought that the bid of the egg would start from a low amount like the golden key, but things didnʼt go as they had expected.

They understood that the egg was solely for the strong and wealthy parties of the town.

David, who had just become the Townhead, was one of the few in the crowd to have no interest in bidding for the egg. One of the major reasons behind his disinterest in the bidding was that he didnʼt have enough funds to even surpass the lowest bid.

So, David stopped focusing on the auction, and instead, began playing with his daughter without holding her.

”One hundred ten million low soul stones!”

While the bid had already breached the mark of one hundred million low soul stones, it still didnʼt seem to stop for even a second.

Time flew by, and several seconds passed.

”Two hundred million low soul stones!”

John, the son of the previous Townhead, suddenly made a bid of two hundred million, exceeding the previous bid by thirty million low soul stones.

The crowd had gaped faces as they heard the bids one after another. Since the bidding war began, they hadnʼt been able to close their mouths, hearing the outrageous amount.

”Two hundred ten million low soul stones!”

It didnʼt even take a second for someone else from the VIP room to surpass Johnʼs bid.

The next moment, a frown appeared on Lewisʼs face as another bid surpassing two hundred ten million appeared. The last bid had been made by his daughter.

The frown didnʼt continue for long as another outrageous bid arrived.

”Two hundred fifty million low soul stones!” John made another bid, surpassing the previous bid by thirty million.

John had already decided to win the egg even if it emptied his treasury of more than four hundred million low soul stones, especially after losing the golden key.

The skill selling store was the most successful business in the town. Previously, it had the direct support of Mark, his father, so John was able to add an outrageous amount of low soul stones in his treasury. But now that a new Townhead had arrived, and if he decided to take the skill store under his control, John wouldnʼt even be able to fight.

So having the egg was not only his need but also a necessity if he wanted to have a stand in the town.

”Two hundred sixty million low soul stones!”

Finally, the bidding speed slowed down as only after two seconds did the next bid arrive.

”Three hundred million low soul stones!” John wasnʼt going to let go, so he made another outrageous bid, making the entire arena suddenly silent.

Lewis heaved a disappointed sigh, hearing the bid since this bid had crossed his entire fund. He had now lost his chance at both the golden key and the egg.

”Does anyone want to make another bid?” Lewis asked with a hint of irritation in his tone.. He had no mood to continue this auction anymore and wanted to end it as soon as possible.
